Rating: Summary: Top-notch sleuth worthy of a sequel Review: I was enthralled with The Bone Collector. I read an average of 10 books a month and this was a special one. I love the character, Lincoln Rhyme; he is not your run of the mill murder mystery detective, but a sharp tongued, intelligent man who is at times self deprecating, especially concerning his handicap. Despite this, the transformation that occurs as he becomes close with Amelia Sachs and enthralled by the work which he lived for prior to his accident, makes him a believable, imperfect (but admirable) character. Add to this the fascinating forensic deductions and the suspense associated with trying to save the victims in time and it's one of those "can't put it down" books. Come on and write us a sequel, Jeff Deaver!!
Rating: Summary: Very good for the ameteur couch sleuth. Review: Jeffery Deaver stimulates the deductive powers of the mind; tricking you into thinking you know the answers, then changing course. The Bone Collector also has a lot of emotional qualities. This is the first of his publications that I have experienced and I am ready for more!
Rating: Summary: Graphic and Compelling Review: Never having read Jefferey Deaver before, I didn't know what to expect. But to listen to this book, read by David McCallum who brings you into each scene and makes you a silent witness, makes me want more - from Deaver, from McCallum, and from these characters. I hope there is a sequel in the works! Just remind me not to eat lunch while I listen!!
Rating: Summary: Fast-Paced and Exciting... AlthoughNot Much Depth Review: For those of us who read for entertainment value first and literary value second, this is certainly a worthwhile read. I would liken it to a Schwartzenegger movie...fast-paced and very exciting, but not entirely memorable. This book is heavy on the technology angle, which is not necessarily bad (Tom Clancy fans can appreciate such detail), but more energy could have been devoted to character development. I didn't leave the story particulalry liking (or even hating) any of the characters.
It's no "Silence of the Lambs", where you held true passion in your like and dislike of the characters, but it is a good read in its own right.
Rating: Summary: A Read While You Are Walking Kind of Book Review: I really enjoyed "A Maiden's Grave" so I was thrilled when I saw "The Bone Collector". I was NOT disappointed. This book was in front of me as I was eating, walking and (when I could get away with it) working. It keeps you guessing all the way up to the end of the book.
Rating: Summary: Chilling Review: I haven't even finished this book and can't wait to purchase all his others. I read for entertainment, not for literary merit. This book is great so far and gets better with each page. The main character is a quad criminologist. Certainly a twist from other serial killer books I have read.
Rating: Summary: Spine Tingling Supense and Great Characters Review: This book is very hard to put down. The characters are drawn realistically and compel your interest. I would like to read of the further adventures of Lincoln and Amelia. They have great chemistry
Rating: Summary: Not every Thriller fans cup of tea ... Review: The Bone Collector is my first Jeff Deaver book and I must say he has done well in certain areas, notably those forensic details, which at times, can be a little too technical. Overall , this book is still quite a thriller, with a rather twisted and unexpected ending. It could be better, if JD could do a little bit more on the characterization part.
Rating: Summary: The best book in a long time! Review: This book was SO good! It was a suspensful, cant put it down, stay up late at night, never wanting to finish book! It was the best book I have readi a LONG time! I love all his books. They are all very good! I suggest reading all of them especially this one.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK!!!!!!! Review: It started out slowly (the first chapter), but then it just got going. The main characters become friends of yours (Sachs I fell in love with). The story has a dramatic ending where all the bits and pieces fall together like a jig'saw puzzle. I'm going to buy another of Deavers books on my lunch-break, it's a must!
