This novel is so spellbinding, that I am unable to sleep at night because of how suspensful it is. If anyone has any suggestions of other suspense or mystery books that are definite page turners, feel free to email me.Kerry Bute
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Powerfully Gripping Police Suspense Novel Review: Jeffery Deaver weaves such a web between the covers of this book. The character expositions is masterfully constructed, the technical references (to police lingo and equipment) put you in the room with Rymes and the other officers. You'll be on the edge of your seat from page to page.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: This was an excellent book! Deaver keeps the reader guessing right up to the end.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Riveting and educational Review: Definitely an entertaining book with some excellent core characters. Not only do you get involved with searching for the serial madman, but you also learn about physical evidence and walking a crime scene. If you're a fan of police novels, welcome to The Bone Collector.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A great cast of characters Review: It was great to meet Lincoln Rhyme, Amelia Sachs and the rest of the characters in The Bone Collector. Deaver has put together a great story with interesting characters you want to know more about. I immediately went out and purchased the follow-up, The Coffin Dancer, upon finishing Bone Collector. Deaver provides interesting characters, great pacing and excellent detail. If you like Patricia Cornwell or Ridley Pearson along with some Sherlock Holmes then this is a book for you. I really enjoyed it and look forward to future installments in the series.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An exciting and intelligent story! Review: This was one of the best mystery books I reviewed for a local newspaper. Deaver's writing and descriptive nature bring the reader into the story, making it impossible to put the book down. A real treat for readers!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Confusing horror tale of Anatomy 101 gone astray Review: From the start "The Bone Collector" is confusing. Why would anybody hop in a cab that had no door or window handles and then the author expects us to believe that they slammed the door before the cabbie shot away from the curb. With what? In my last job I hailed alot of cabs and would NEVER have entered a cab with those design features. But then what do I know? Its like my cousin used to say who dressed sets in Hollywood "with logical thought progression they wouldn't sell any tickets in Hollywood. Another instance of movie license." Only in this case it is book license. The author takes us back to the 19th Century through the mind of the collector and are we to believe that he is a reincarnation of someone who lived then? A member of the living dead who is now cruising around in the 20th century? He doesn't collect much. His first vic was scaled to death and nothing was collected. His next victim was sliced up, but nothing much more etc. Are we to believe that the police just didn't give him enough time to do his work? In other words they were smarter than him and headed him off at the pass? I don't know, but one thing I do know is I couldn't care less about a sequel to the characters in this book. They aren't that interesting. I also found his fascination with technical equipment that a forensic scientist uses abit B O R I N G. I haven't read any other books by Deaver and after this one I don't know if I care to. Entertaining, but better buy it in paperback or check it out at the library because it is not worth hardcover price.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It actually kept me off the computer! Review: I usually read non-fiction. The last two books I read were "Into Thin Air" and "A Civil Action". This one, although obviously not a true-crime story, kept me on the edge of my seat. As a former lab technician, I liked the attention to medical and forensic detail. The developing relationship between the main characters makes me want more. I will be buying the next one!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Choices can haunt us so Rhyme and Sachs learn Review: This book was a rare treat. Deaver is a gifted writer who grabs at your throat and won't let go. Rhyme and Sachs made for a unique combination. Each being reluctant to work on such a chilling case. When you finish you'll go back a read the last 60 pages again. It's a good read and you'll even learn some history about NY in the late 1800's. You search the clues trying to figure out the killer's identity. When you do (at the same time Rhyme does) you're not really shocked but more amazed you didn't see it before. The clue hits you in the face but trust me you'll over look it. The ending is superb for such a chilling story. It's masterfully written and one not to start if you have to get up early the next day. It's a book you should take your time to read since so much happens and until the end nothing seems to make sense. Choices come back to haunt our two heroes. You'll never look a people the same when you finish this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great read/sloppy ending Review: I really loved Deaver's story, but I have to agree with the guy who rated The Bone Collector as "horrible" that the ending is kinda lame. Set that aside, though, and enjoy a really good romp as forensic science tracks a whacked out serial killer! I'll read anything Deaver cares to throw my way, lame ending or not! His forensics is right on and well-used to propel the plot forward. I, too, couldn't put The Bone Collector down!
