Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Who knew forensic science could be so sexy? Review: I'd been getting tired of the same old cop and/or medical thrillers...until The Bone Collector came along! An excellent read. Deaver's attention to detail is echoed in Lincoln Rhymes' meticulous forensic analysis. I felt like I was leaping right out of my seat at times, especially since Lincoln Rhymes very well couldn't. The frustration, the race against the clock...talk about nail-biting! I totally sympathized with Amelia! Readers MUST read this book and its sequel of sorts, The Coffin Dancer. I'm looking forward to the next Deaver
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A definate must Review: As this is my first in the genre I can quite easily say this book is on my recommend list. The historical and technical detail is really quite extensive with strong characters that have the right amount of cohesiveness. I shall be buying 'Coffin Dancer' for sure.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book is great - keeps you guessing until the end Review: Deaver is a great author. He has created a character in Lincoln Rhyme that I feel like I know and love to spend time with. The plot twists and turns and keeps you holding your breath till the last second. I am reading all of Deaver's books and loving them. Can't wait for another chance to spend time with Lincoln again. A MUST READ

I had to sleep with the hall light on for three nights in a row while reading this book. Lincoln reminded me just a little bit of Nero Wolfe, which, of course, means *someone* has to be Archie. In this book, that someone is the combination of Amelia and Thom together, with Amelia doing the legwork and Thom having the smart mouth. I had never read anything by Deaver before, but I liked this book so well that I went right out and bought "The Coffin Dancer". If that one is as good as "The Bone Collector", I might just have to read everything he's written.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: engrossing and realistic Review: This book was fabulous and I can't wait for more featuring Amelia and Lincoln Rhyme. The Bone Collector is by far my favorite Deaver book and the follow-up was also wonderful. The story has it's quirks and they all work. The story is realistic and well written. The characters are well formed and likeable. Deaver gives you just enought background info to keep you wanting more but not too much so that it takes away fromt he plot. I highly recommend this one - it will keep you up all night reading because you just can't put it down.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Good idea for a plot but far too gruesome. Review: I normally read the thriller type book but after reading half of this book, I just could not read another page and didn't want anyone else I knew to read it either so I threw it in the trash! The plot line was good, but the continual use of gruesome details was just too much.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: I thought this book was amazing! I could not put it down, and when I did I couldn't turn the lights out! But I recomend it to anyone, it's just a really great book.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: The ultimate wheelchair detective, but mundane otherwise. Review: I picked up this book at the library due to the interesting premise on the back cover: a quadriplegic detective. "Cool," I thought, "this is the ultimate armchair detective novel." I still think the gimmick is "cool", but I was otherwise pretty disappointed by this book. I found Lincoln Rhyme's character almost believable, but I couldn't identify with his female sidekick/protegee. Why does she have to be a beautiful ex-model (other than guaranteeing a large male audience for the upcoming movie)? Also, everybody had a painful past--too many painful pasts in one book (outside of Wuthering Heights). The mystery itself was interesting at first, but I found the end too pat. I was also disappointed by the too-neat tie-in to the next book. Yes, I probably will read the next book--I always want to know how things end up--but I'm checking it out of the library instead of paying for it.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: AWFUL!!! Review: From a forensic scientist's point of view, Deaver butchered reality. As the greatest criminalist ever, Lincoln Rhyme breaks all of the rules even the most dim-witted criminalist would observe. The interpretation of the evidence was impossible by today's standards or the future for that matter (individualizing soil samples, running dirt through a GC/MS in minutes???). Deaver needs to do his homework if he wants to include forensics, crime scene investigation, and criminal profiling in his books.
