Summary: Same old story line
Review: I bought this book because I enjoy true crime novels and thought that this may be equivalent, but was I wrong! I read it on a flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis, and decided to leave it on the plane. I could barely bring myself to finish it. The entire book is corny--the ease at which the case is solved, the dialogue, the prose, and basically the entire story line. How about something original? When I closed the book, I didn't care anything about either of the two main characters, or even the victims. And the tie in for the next novel at the end was just pathetic.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!
Review: I had read Coffin Dancer before I read Bone Collector so I was not only thrilled by the story itself, I was also thrilled to discover how Lincoln and Amelia met. I recommended these books to all my friends!!

Summary: Great police procedural wrapped in an infuriating package
Review: One of the best police procedural novels, The Bone Collector is a riveting, edge of the chair story. Each page leaves the reader looking forward to the next. The story slows down infuriatingly as the author puts forth more and more police anagrams. The manner in which they are introduced, the initials first and in the next paragraph the explaination as to what they stand for, gives the reader the feeling of condisention, as if the author is saying "Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah, I know what this means and you don't." The story line is excellent, but the constant repetition of these initials really slows the the reader down because in the enjoyment of the story the reader does not remember what ESU or TOD stand for. To get the meaning the reader either has to go back to find the first time it was introduced or consult the glossary in the back of the book.

This, obviously well researched book, leaves something to be desired in the manner of emergency medical care. The care of the victims at the scene is not overuled by the police. That is not the way it works. The explainations of the tortured deaths the perpetrater plans for his victims is not very accurate either. In the case of the young woman left in the tunnel, the description of the injuries are such that this victim would have bled to death before the criminal left the scene, as two major arteries would have been cut. The on site medical care this woman would have received is extremely inaccurate. Supposing that a live victim had been found, the amount of blood loss would have been so great that this would be referred to in the emergency medical community as a "swoop and scoop" meaning that the majority of the care delivered by the emergency medical personel would have been done in the ambulance as it was screaming with lights and sirens to the nearest hospital. There would never have been any suturing at the scene because the manner of the injuries would need to be repaired in the operating room by a general surgeon, a vascular surgeon and a plactic surgeon, all working together (a neurosugeon may also have been needed) and, even then, it is unlikely that this young woman would retain full use of her hand because numerous nerves would have been severed as well.

Other than the initials and the emergency care, the book is a page turner. Perhaps in the future the author will be less hung up on the initials and research the entire scenario in depth.

Summary: If you are a fan of Silence of the Lambs.....
Review: I loved this book. I will admit, I purchased the book because the movie seemed somewhat interesting. But now I am nervous about going to see the movie, because in all honesty...I really dont think that the movie can live up to the suspense that this book has to offer. In the beginning I thought that this book would confuse me with all of the forensic "terms" being used. But the author does a wonderful job at the explanation. Dont let this book pass you by.

Summary: Great Book! A Real Page Turner!
Review: Enjoyed reading this book very much. Just couldn't put down the book. Had to finish the entire book in order to get to the end of the great story.

Summary: This book deserves six stars
Review: Engrossing...., captivating.... an excellent read from the beginning, crowned with a great ending, ....suspense galore. Besides entertaining with its many twists and turns, also provides forensic elements and even divulges principles of science. Rhyme character is great and originally crafted. I enjoyed it very much "down to the bone".

Summary: Twists and turns till the very last page!!!!!
Review: This book has taught me so much about the life of criminal investigators...Right down to specific tools they use and how. The rubberband on the shoes was a brilliant idea! It all seemed so acurate...unlike most of J.Deavers rivals! I give it five stars... and two thumbs up!!!! Lets hope the movie gives this book the justice it deserves...

Summary: Fast paced, compelling, and utterly absorbing.
Review: "The Bone Collector" features a both a detective an a serial criminal who are new and unique in the genre, no mean feat in itself. It is tautly plotted, full of forensic detail, hangs together neatly, yet shocks the reader with a dilly of a surprise ending.

Summary: a page turner from deaver
Review: I have just finished reading this "bone chilling" thriller. It was refreshing to have the main character with a disability, instead of him constantly bouncing off speeding cars etc in the quest for justice and detection of crime. Highlighting Amelia,s bad habits and the development of her friendship with Lincoln was a clever way of keeping the reader interest and heightening a sexual tension. I felt a great deal of sadness when I had finished the book, and further sadness when I realised that I have no other books of his to read. I will be looking for his other titles and recommending the Bone Collector to customers in my bookshop.

Summary: Finally an original mystery hero (and heroine)
Review: I was told about this book by a friend who is interested in forensic science. Immediately I was hooked, reading close to 150 pages in the first sitting, and finishing the book in less than three days. While there are some technical elements of the book that are confusing, ie all the forensics tests, there is a glossary at the tend of the book that explains them. Great, and unexpected ending! Check out Coffin Dancer for the return of Rhyme and Sachs.
