Rating: Summary: Skip this one, read "The Other Daughter" instead. Review: After reading Lisa Gardner's novel "The Other Daughter" (which I found very interesting), I was anxious to read "The Perfect Husband". Unfortunately I found this first novel to be weak, with a disappointing and very unbelievable plot. The second novel is a strech too, to be quite honest, but nothing like this first one. We are honestly expected to believe that this serial killer, while constantly on the move, changing his appearance, makeup, clothes, is able to murder someone and then drag another dead body to the top of a building in a short span of time. Additionally, I found the addition of JT's sister rather odd and didn't add to the plot. Read the second book and skip this one.
Rating: Summary: Trite. Review: Based on a painful reading of the first 63 pages: Trite dialog. Unrealistic characters. In a word, "Unreadable".
Rating: Summary: Excellent read, lots of surprises Review: If you like a good mystery, this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book. Once you start, it will be difficult to put it down. Lisa Gardner has only written two books so we have a lot to look forward to in the future.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful reading! Review: I purchased and read this book after reading Lisa's other book, The Other Daughter. I think Lisa gets better with each book, because I did like The Other Daughter better, but I could not put The Perfect Husband down. I read it in one day! I will look forward to Lisa's next book and plan to be first in line to buy it!
Rating: Summary: Don't miss this one! Review: After reading The Other Daughter I just had to read her first book. Just as great! This is a must read!
Rating: Summary: A true Page Turner! Review: I just now finished the book and am in the process of ordering her second novel. We are getting ready for a long plane trip from Saudi Arabia to San Diego and I have this one ready to go on the plane for my husband to read. He likes to sleep alot on long flights, but he will be too busy turning the pages to get much sleep!
Rating: Summary: Superb!!! Review: This book is great!!!! A gotta read. You cannot put it down for one second.
Rating: Summary: Was this book a movie? Review: I loved this book! It was awesome page by page. My friend started to read it and stopped because she says she saw a movie exactly like the book, but can't think of the name of it. So if anyone knows what the name of this movie is, please email me and let me know! It's driving us crazy. I've searched the web and came up with nothing. Thanks, Kim (mrscpumakr@aol.com)
Rating: Summary: I HAD TO HOLD MY BREATH A FEW TIMES Review: OKAY, FIRST OFF I HAVE TO ADMIT THIS WAS A VERY GOOD BOOK. THE ONLY PARTS THAT I WAS NOT INTERESTED IN WERE THE SEX SCENES. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CAN LOVE SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY ARE F-ING YOU. I DONT THINK THERE WAS ANY CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS AND THEY SHOULDNT HAVE GOTTEN TOGETHER IN THE END. I THINK WHAT HAPPENED TO MARION WAS A CHEAP WAY OUT. SHE WAS A STRONG PERSON TO BE KILLED OFF SO QUICKLY(SORRY TO SPOIL). I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK THOUGH. YOU WILL DEFINITLY GET GOOSE BUMPS. TRY TO ENJOY EVEN WITH THE HARSH SEX SCENES.
Rating: Summary: The Perfect Husband? More like "The Dysfunctional Family" Review: I read the reviews after this book was recommended to me and I expected an unstoppable read. It did start out very well making me think of Dean Koontz' - "Intensity", but as the story progressed the main character - Tess/Angela/Theresa became a sub-plot and the story behind Marion (raped by her father), her brother J.T. (ex-marine, alcoholic, married his father's girlfriend and adopted his half-brother) and their brutish/insestuous father (who was dying of cancer) became the focus the rest of the story until the end when -- (Well, I won't give that away) All in all it was a good story, but remove a lot of the story conserning Marion/J.T. (except a sufficient amount so that they are not flat characters) and focus on the real story (Tess and her psychotic husband Jim) and you'll loose well over 100 pages. I purchased it used and I enjoyed the afternoon hanging out on my deck in the sun, but I would not recommend purchasing this at a hardbound price.
