Summary: Good learning while driving!
Review: I am just starting to try and learn the Russian language, as I am contemplating a trip to Russia later this year. I thought I would try this as I have a 40 mile commute each way to work, and this would make constructive use of the time, as I listen as I drive.

It is a good beginners introduction to the language. The scope is limited, to a handful (dozen or so) phrases. And these phrases are repeated in subsequent lessons. And, they tell you not to look at any printed material while you are studying (listening) the course.

So, I guess I would say that it is a good introduction and builds confidence, but it is rather limited. And, contradictory to what they said, I am also studying two books in the language. It complements each other. Seeing and studying the Russian alphabet, words, pronunciation and grammar on paper, really complements what you hear on this program.

Hope this was helpful advice!

Summary: Good for the beginner!
Review: If you drive or fly, this is a great set to have. It starts with the basic's and works forward into more difficult things. But all are good for being able to communicate in Russian. I travelled to Russia recently and was told that the my pronunciation of the language was good. I owe it all to this collection. I have the CD's and feel that it was money well spent.

Summary: Easy Conversational Russian
Review: This tape series was very effective! The brief 30-minute lessons teach not only helpful phrases, but basic grammer rules as well. They suggest you not use other written materials with these tapes, however, being a visual learner I found it helpful to have my phrasebook handy to look up some of the words. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to learn some basic conversational Russian. My 7-year old and I listened to it in the car together and we both have learned a lot in a brief amount of time.
