Summary: This book helps make life what I want it to be.
Review: Many self-help books focus on a single aspect or component of life. This one effectively speaks to the balance of all of them.

I greatly enjoyed the fact that it began by helping you get in touch with your mission in life which is the foundation upon which it all builds. Once you identify why you are here, moving forward to set goals, the "What's in it for me", becomes a very natural process.

"Winning in the Game of Life" helps you balance all the components in your life including intellect, psyche, physical, spiritual, career, and family and get more from each of them by giving more to them. This book beautifully blends traditional management techniques of planning and organizing with the less tangible facets of our lives that allow us to stay centered and keep things in perpsective.

It is especially refreshing to read about Tom Gegax's newfound perspective towards his teammates (employees) as a result of his experiences in life.

I found this book energizing to read and have had fun sharing the messages with my family and coworkers.

Summary: Derivative and Underwhelming
Review: The book appears at first glance potentially as unique insight into a wide variety of insights within the author's supposed personal journey.

However, it becomes apparent quite early that it seems to be a series of random thoughts all pieced together. Many of these ideas are recycled and presnted as new ideas through his eyes.

Pass it by, I returned mine.

Summary: A Waste of Time
Review: This book could easily be cut in half. It rambles in so many areas -- going into mind-numbing detail about unimportant subjects. Don't waste your time

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very practical, everyday usefulness
Review: This book is great for those of us who've never really taken the time to examine what it takes to be a whole person: all the elements of wellness are included here. I'm very appreciative and especially like how simple, but thorough and honest the book is. Each chapter reveals the next steps to creating a plan that I can use step by step. I feel like I can start to lay out a plan and move ahead as I'm ready.

Summary: Solid
Review: This is an interesting book for someone who is just starting on a personal improvement plan. The best part about it is that Gegax's approach is holistic - he really has a strong understanding of the connection between the mind, body and spirit. The writing style is smooth and the book is easy to read. The concepts all make sense and he gives a clear plan for readers to follow in applying his steps. The parts I found most useful were the first two sections, on personal mission statements and action planning. After that, I found the book was at turns too simplistic and too far out there for me.

The caution I would give people in reading this book is two-fold. First, Gegax writes in a very autobiographical style. I learned more about him and his personal trials and tribulations than I wanted to; I'm the type of reader who prefers more theory and fewer examples. Secondly, as someone who has already read Stephen Covey and a host of other self-help/health authors, I found that alot of what Gegax had to say was old news to me.

This isn't a bad self help book to have. Some people will really value having a book that encompasses physical, emotional and mental health, and the connection between them, in one volume. If you don't mind the oversimplifications that can result in trying to bring such a range of material together, and you're interested in these sorts of issues, you may find the book of value.

Summary: Charming self-help guide for personal improvement.
Review: Tom Gegax has written an easy-to-read book that covers new ground for those of us in the business world. Ever had a series of events that made you believe life might not be worth living? Read about Tom's experiences and learn from the health-sustaining and life-giving techniques he discovered in turning things around for himself, his loved ones and for his company. I wonder what kind of world we'd live in if there were more executive "coaches" at the helms of America's corporations.

Mr. Gegax is hardly alone in dealing with these kinds of struggles. But his is a unique voice in discussing and transforming life's difficulties into opportunities. A "must read" for fast pacers whose lives have suddenly encountered what appear to be too many bumps in the road. Way to go, Tom!

Summary: A complete Game Plan on how we can overcome our challenges.
Review: Tom has shared his life successes and mistakes with us in "Winning in the Game of Life". His honest depiction makes it okay for me not to be perfect. His thorough and thoughtful work will be a great guidebook to my everyday living. It was warm and practical from cover to cover. The layout of the book will allow me to easily re-reference material for a long time to come.

Summary: Enthusiastic, Purposeful, and Helpful
Review: Winning In The Game of Life is one book that should be on everyone's bookshelf. It is a great guide and reference for those needing help to nail down (or fine-tune) their purpose in life.

It's about lifelong learning and working to be the best you can be and continually reflecting on what you do right and where you can improve--without being critical or judgemental--but in a nurturing way. From the perspective of individual wellness, this book is it. There is nothing more important than how you feel (health and otherwise). If you aren't well or working to be in balance, then everything that you do and say, how you act and react to things is going to be dictated by your present state of being. "Winning" helps you feel good about you and your actions.

From the business perspective, I wish more organizations embraced this way of thinking and doing. There are more ways to measure the success of a company than the bottom line. If corporate and social responsibility were the measuring stick, then we'd certainly have a much more conscious business community if they followed the secrets for success outlined in Gegax's book.

"Winning" reads quickly and has very practical information to incorporate into your life right away.

It is definitely worth reading.

Summary: Motivational and Inspiring. A truly, worthwhile read!
Review: Winning in the Game of Life motivates you to really examine your life and make an honest assessment of your present and future lifestyle. This book provides you with all the necessary "coaching" to enhance your life and the lives of people you care about. Winning in the Game of Life will inspire you to be all that you can be and have all that you deserve from your endeavors. This book will empower you to establish and achieve your mission in life and more importantly help others to achieve their missions.
