Rating: Summary: Not bad at all. Review: This book however still not being able to surpass it's two predesessors, it is still an OK read. The reason why this book does not live up to Casino Royale, and Live and Let Die, is the card scene in the beginning. It is completely, and uterly boring. This goes on for six chapters, then things really start to get going One of the most creative villians, turns out to be... not what I expected. I had an entire other thing that I thought was going on. But, all in all it is far better than the movie, which just shares the title, and the name of the villian. Moonraker, in this book is not even a spacecraft, and Bond never steps foot of off planet Earth, it works far better that way.
Rating: Summary: Moonraker is pure brilliance. Review: Through James Bond's many adventures he has had to deal with men who are obsessed with world domination and destruction. But in Moonraker Ian Fleming creates an amazingly real picture of a classic villain, not bent on world domination, who uses his intelligence to succeed. Although Hugo Drax is completely unbelievable Fleming's description's make him and his story of revenge on Great Britain come alive. In some of the most exciting and gripping scenes of all of Bond's adventures we seem to get to know Bond and his detective work better. Another reason that this book was so entertaining was the fact that the Bond girl, Gala Brand, was even different. Gala never really fell madly in love with Bond but all the while she kept her appeal and she is probably the most useful and most appealing of all the Bond girls.
Rating: Summary: Fleming is a gifted writer... Review: I love the fact that Ian Fleming easily gets me involved with Bond's card game with Drax even though I know nothing about card playing. I understood exactly what was happening and thoroughly enjoyed Bond getting the better of Drax. Flemings books are all superior to the films. I've read every Bond book at least twice and look forward to a third time. Do yourself a favor a give Bond and Fleming a chance.
Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK Review: i recomend this book to anyone that is obsesed with the master spy, JAMES BOND!!!!this book is an award winning novel to me! the books plot is kind of hard forsome people to understand. ian fleming should have won an award for this book! if you liked this book read, live and let die, from russia with love, the living daylights, goldeneye, tomorrow never dies, diamonds are forever, moonraker, chitty chitty bang bang(another book by ian fleming), the man with the golden gun, dr.no, and all of the other james bond books!!!
Rating: Summary: 007's adventures continue in the utterly awesome Moonraker. Review: Of the first four novels that Ian Fleming wrote, Moonraker is, without a doubt, the best. This third Bond adventure revolves around the plot of Hugo Drax to decimate England with a nuclear missile, the Moonraker. Suspense is present on page after page, even when Bond and M are just sitting at a bridge table with Drax. Gala Brand is another atypical Bond girl, and their relationship certainly doesn't take the course one might expect. Moonraker is one of my very favorites, and one of the five best novels of the Bond series.
Rating: Summary: One of Fleming's Best Review: This is easily one of the best Bond books I've ever read. This is MUCH better than the movie. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the world of Bond!
Rating: Summary: Better than the movie! Review: Not the best of the Bond books, still a much stronger entry than most of his later books. The scene where Bond plays bridge against Drax at Blades is my favorite. The plot of the film Goldeneye was taken from this book. You will find no hint of the film Moonraker here, even though the deceased Mister Fleming seems to think otherwise. What is it about death anyway?
Rating: Summary: Best Fleming ever! Review: I couldn't put this book down intill I was done. A real page turner. Exciment on every page. oo7 best adventure yet.
Rating: Summary: Don't Be Fooled By the Movie Review: This third book in the James Bond series is easily better than the first two. "Casino Royale" was dark and lacking in character development, while "Live and Let Die", though better, seemed to have a few plot holes despite the exotic locales and awesome villain. In "Moonraker" the plot moves along at a good clip, the villain is easy to despise, and we get a good view of Bond's life in London. Though the notion of a missle capable of saving Britain from nuclear destruction at the hands of the Soviets now seems a bit quaint, the story hooks you immediately and keeps you interested. A lesson learned: don't be fooled by the movie. Having seen all of the James Bond films, I can state unequivocally that "Moonraker" is my least favorite. Thus I approached the book of the same title with a bit of trepidation. Definitely not warranted; "Moonraker" the book is a good read, different (and better) than the movie. Certainly the best of the first three books in the series. Recommended for lovers of espionage tales; required for James Bond buffs.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: One of the best written and exqusitely wrought novels by Fleming. Tense, gripping and surprisingly romantic.
