Rating: Summary: The Lost Years Of Merlin Review: I was in a book store and was looking for a good book to read and found this book. When I started reading I couldnt stop reading. This book was so good that I wanted to buy the whole series. If you like Harry Potter this book is just like it but it is a little older version. This book is about a boy who has veary strange magical things happen to him self. His mother is veary mistearious, she tells him nothing of his past. He finnaly goes and trys to find his past. He ends up on a misterious island where there are faries and mistical creatures. But he finds the truth about his father.
Rating: Summary: J.R.R.Tolkien, Move Over, The Barron Is Here Review: First, I must say that "The Lost Years Of Merlin" by T.A. Barron is posibly the best book I have ever read. It explains the (as the title says) the lost years of Merlin. Emrys (Merlin) is a young boy, when after a few unexplicable happings, strives to discover his past. Being washed ashore as a young boy leaves him without memory. His "mother" will simply not tell him anything. So he travels to the mythical land of Fincyra, where a run in of lots of exciting and dangerous characters help him with his discovery. He learns of how Fincayra is slowly being destroyed, and he now must help restore it too. This book also contains many side adventures, some of which might even continue in one of the 4 sequels, which are also all must-reads. I encourage everyone to read this book, you will not be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: The best book ever written Review: The best book ever written! Undoubtedly 20x better than Harry Potter, and for those of you who have read the Golden Compass (by Philip Pullman) and thought that was good, wait till you read this! I ended up reading several of these a week. Thomas (author) has an amazing way of leading the reader into the described world, allowing you to "become" the main character and, although this book is fantasy, one can become very attached to Merlin/Emrys (main character), his sister and all of the other characters. Wonderful book!
Rating: Summary: A fantastic, epic novel that is destined to be a classic. Review: The boy who goes by the name of Emrys has but only a dim memory of his past. He questions his own mother's identity, though she loves him. He lives in a land where he is uncertain he was born, and when a fatal blow blinds his eyes, it is then that his powers come to him -- though distant and unknown, he is determined to learn who he really is. This begins a mind-shattering journey to learn his past -- and his future. When he washes ashore on Fincayra, a land rich in fruit and strange animals, he meets a friend, Rhia -- and encounters a deadly hawk, dangerous foes, and ultimately, a path that leads him to a dark castle shrounded in evil and shadows. His own destiny will change his life, for even he doesn't know how powerful his magic is -- for one day he is destined to become Merlin. The Lost Years Of Merlin by T.A. Barron was an absolutely wonderful, colorful novel bursting with adventure and power, making this an unforgettable, fantastic fantasy the author has created.
Rating: Summary: Merlin's Lost Years (before going to King Arthur) Review: T.A. Barron entrances many readers with wonderful descriptions and a captivating, exciting story. A young, scrawny boy finds himself washed ashore in a very unfamiliar place. So, he first asks himself, where did he come from? He doesn't remember. Then, what's his name? He doesn't remember that, either. As he frantically probes his blank mind for more memories, he finds that nothing remains of his memory. He has no idea where his family is or how he can find them. Then, he finds a beautiful, sapphire-eyed woman who, too, had been washed ashore. She claims she is his mother and is named Branwen, while the boy is Emerys. But Emerys cannot believe that he, such an ugly boy with devil's pointed ears, could be the son of such a beautiful woman. He also doesn't believe his true name is Emerys. How could it be? It didn't feel right. Emerys then finds himself calling upon magical powers that he never knew he had. He sets flame to a tree to harm a large bully, but then Emerys dives into the fire to save the bully, whose name is Dinatius. But Emerys lost his eyes while trying to (unsuccessfully) save Dinatius. Then, a gift of either his magic or from god, he gains second sight, where his eyes do not work, but he can sense and still see things. He then leaves the safety of Branwen and sets out to find his past, his name, and future. Many things happen to him on the enchanted island of Fincayra. This is a must buy for any Harry Potter fan. I encourage many people to read this book- it is great!
Rating: Summary: Don't bother with that Harry Potter junk go 4 the good stuf Review: I've read harry potter, and i just red the 3rd book of Merlin, the only one i've read so far, but i know that harry potter does not even compare to the well written books of merlin. I was swept away with delight as the story took many unexpected turns and opened up the life of Merlin as a 14 yr old, the life not many thought of before he became King Arthur's mentor and was all powerful. A great book to read, you cant put it down as the world of Finicayra seems a reality.
Rating: Summary: What Lost Years? Review: When I first started reading this book is was only doing it for the acceleratewd reader points. But then I got really into it and found myself holding my breath in a scary situation. I like the way it explains whaat the character is thinking. This was an awesome book!!!
Rating: Summary: T.A. Barron, The Lost Years of Merlin, BK 1 Review: This is an unbelievable book filled with fantasy and wonderful stroy line. I have never read a T.A. Barron Book before, but now this author has won my attention. Let your imagination soar with this book! 5 STARS!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I read this book a few years ago, and it was great. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the other books, but I most definantly will soon. Trust me, you MUST buy this and read it. You won't regret it. (It's best if you love fantasy books, though.)
Rating: Summary: Magical Reading Review: Many people have heard of the magical and wise Merlin but his childhood is a mystery. "The Lost Years of Merlin", written by T.A Barron, fills in most of the gaps. This enchanting tale is about a young man named Emrys who loses his memory and finds his way to Fincayra, where he searches for his future though many adventures wait for him. Fincayra is a place of wonder and mystery because it contains many good and bad creatures. Along the way he meets many people (or things) who help him find the secrets of Fincayra. T.A Barron did an extremely good job of describing Merlin's dangerous yet magical life. One of the many tings he gets in Fincayra is his new name, Merlin. Kids tend to like books about things they don't usually see or hear about but some kids don't. If so, they would not like "The Lost Years of Merlin" because you don't see a young wizard learning magic in a place called Fincayra and being pursued by another evil wizard. Another reason this book might not be liked is the large variety characters and setting. There is a wide range of new characters in every new book in the series that are fun to read about yet some might become confused. Even so, I don't think any of these reasons is good enough to stop someone from reading this book. Others might like books that move slowly or books that are realistic but if not this book is perfect. One can tell that the author took a long time to think out this book so that it is understandable and simple. I am, myself, a really slow reader but I read this book with ease. It is mostly a calm book. This is one of the best series I have read and I am confident you will think so too.
