Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: Well. Lets see. Actually all I have to say about this is just WOW! I got this book off Amazon with a gift certificate here and I thought this would just be another one of those so-so books. But boy was I wrong. The book starts out slow but soon you are [drawn] into the world of young Merlin as he battles creatures and makes some odd companions. Ever since I read this book I have been a T. A. Barron fan and have read all the Lost year of Merlin books. So, once again I say WOW!

Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This is a really amazing book! It's about a boy named Emrys who can't remember anything about his past: where he came from, who his parents were, if he had siblings. All he knows is that his guardian, who calls herself Branwen and claims to be his mother, has strange healing powers. When he begins to discover that he too has vast powers, he also learns how dangerous they can be. I don't want to give anything away, but I will tell you that the book was really a page-turner. Don't miss it!

Rating: Summary: GREAT PICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The Whole series are my favorite books of all time because all of the charcters are absouluty wonderful and colorful! My teacher told us to bring our favorite books. Of course, I brought this one. The only catch is that you have to be a teenager or a VERY advanced reader to read them and at least be interested in these WONDERFUL books. I'm only 10 but, I could read when I was 3. All in all, this is a wonderful pick for anyone really interested in reading.
Rating: Summary: If you loved Harry Potter... Review: Even though this is classified as a children's book, it's enjoyable for all ages. I am an avid reader of children's literature and feel that this rates up there with C.S. Lewis, Madeline L'Engel, Lloyd Alexander, Brian Jacques and JK Rowling. It's a must read for lovers of children's fantasy.
Rating: Summary: The Lost Years of Merlin Review: In this book I liked just about everything. I've always loved wizards and mythical places. Merlin has always been my favorite wizard so that's one of the reasons I really enjoyed this book. The best part of this book is when Merlin (known as Emrys in the book) Fights his father. Merlin uses the legendary sword Deepercut. Deepercut has two sides, white and black. The black edge can cut into a person's soul. The white edge has the power to heal any wound. When Merlin cuts his father with the black edge it makes him good for a little while. Then Rhita Gawr slices his father with the white side to heal him, which makes him evil again. Finally Merlin's pet merlin kills Rhita. My favorite story elements were the characters and the scenery. The author describes many of the characters well. For instance you can see Merlin's mom in your mind because it talks about how beautiful she is (like an angel). The scenery is pretty good. It talks about a forest that is bright and colorful. Then there is a forest right beside it that is the color of dried blood.

Rating: Summary: There is a reason T.A. Barron is my favorite author... Review: I would just like to say that I have been hooked on T.A. Barron's books since I was in the eighth grade (I am a freshman in college now)...I started with The Merlin Effect, and didn't stop there....The Lost Years of Merlin series is purely magical. It's a shame there aren't more books out there by T.A. Barron...Boy, can he weave a story!! Each book in the series seems to fit perfectly with the rest--something you don't often find in a lot of series (once so many books are written, the quality often wavers...however in these books that is not the case). When I was younger, I vividly remember anxiously awaiting each new volume to appear at the library, and after reading them I wasn't disappointed. The part where Rhia dies in The Seven Songs of Merlin was the first time I had ever cried because of a book...Rhia is the ultimate character--brave, smart, totally in-tune with nature, and kind...I eventually plan to name my daughter Rhia someday. Anyway, I just want to say that if you read these books, I know you won't be disappointed. Look out Harry Potter: Here comes Merlin!
