Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: "The Intruder" was the one of best books I have read. I never use to like reading, I though watching a movie was better then reading a book. But one day I went to Library and saw "The Intruder", I had this good feeling about this book. So I took it home, and started reading it. Immediatly started liking it, I couldn't stop reading it. I use to read 50 pages of it a day. It had everything I looked for in a good movie except this a book. Anyone looking for action, suspense, violence, should get this book.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced, but somewhat disappointing Review: Blauner's novel starts with a gripping premise: What would you do if a ragged, homeless person insists that you have stolen his wife, family, and home? Blauner's main character Jake, a New York lawyer, finds himself in such a tight spot. I won't disclose any further plot details, but I think that most readers will find the story fast-paced and exciting for the first half of the book. I was disappointed, however, in how the story developed in the second half of the book: I thought it was somewhat predictable and also thought the ending presented more problems than it solved. (Perhaps this was Blauner's intent.) The relationship between Jake and his family include some very good moments, but the scenes of conflict don't really lead anywhere. Blauner is obviously a talented writer with an exciting style, but the ending for me was a disappointment.
Rating: Summary: heard taped version and it was ok Review: but nothing to rave about . . . just didn't care very much for any of characters.

Rating: Summary: Stephen King was paid off Review: First, the write-up on the back cover of this book is definitely more exciting than the actual story. I felt like I had been deceived after reading this snore-inducer. This book is not about a "malevolent stranger" terrorizing a family - it is about a cardboard-character Mafioso terrorizing a family (and doing it slooooooooowly). This is nothing but a very blaw tale - flat characters, boring plot, stereotypical bad-guys. It wasn't completely awful, but there was nothing new or exciting to the whole book. Avoid at all costs.

Rating: Summary: A gripping thriller that'll keep you up all night Review: I devoured this book's 449 pages in three days, unable to stop reading --- on the train, in the elevator, over dinner, and long past bedtime. Peter Blauner has contructed a realistic, shocking story that explores how far a man will go to protect those he loves, and, should he fail, how far he can fall. The characters are complex and believable, the situations plausible and the action non-stop. If you love stories that send a shiver up your spine, you must read this book.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read in a long time Review: I expected the book to be about a wealthy family tormented by the crack-addicted bum from hell, with the cliched deadly confrontation. What I got was something totally unexpected and much more satisfying. The characters were real, the plot was unpredictable, and the tension was suffocating. This is a fluidly written book that stays with you long after you put it down.
Rating: Summary: Good suspense novel. Review: I found this book entertaining. Blauner really knows New York City and it's clear he knows his characters. The book jacket copy is very misleading as to who the real Intruder is, but don't let that throw you off.. My only complaint is the ending was a tad melodramatic and a little unbelievable. If you're a suspense fan you could do a lot worse than this book. I'd recommend it
