Rating: Summary: A great kids book! Review: I read this one to my great-grandson when he was four years old, and he listened wide-eyed and was entranced.
This is a good, well illustrated kid's book with nothing objectionable to take away from its entertainment value. I recommend it for children, aged 4 to ?. (...)
Rating: Summary: Just as fun now as then! Review: Before I could read, my mother must have read this story to me a hundred times (at my request, no insistance)! I loved this book - it's such an imaginative, upbeat, and entertaining story. I just bought a copy for my great-neices who are 9 and 6 years old. I'm sure they will love all three dragon stories as much as I did (and still do).
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite books for 5-7 year olds Review: Don't miss the next two books in this series: Elmer and the Dragon and the Dragons of Blueland. These are the first chapter books that I have read aloud to my children and they have both loved the creative fantasy in them. If you can find a copy of them with at least some color illustrations inside (not just on the cover), but hey are difficult to find. These books are funny, creative and feature an indepentant, quick-thinking child hero. THe illustrations are really great too
Rating: Summary: An Enchanting Delight! Review: Hoorah! Hoorah! A fanciful story of adventure, friendship, cleverness, inginuity and resourcefulness that toddlers, grade schoolers and adults can all enjoy together. I homeschool children of various ages and it is hard to find read aloud books that capture the interest and imagination of them all. This one is a true winner! Even my three year old was enthralled! The story is thought provoking enough to be a great spring board for discussion with older children, yet endearing enough for little ones to stand up and cheer about. This is a treasured part of our library. Even if you don't have kids, this is a quick and easy "must read". You don't have to be a child to love this book...only young (and adventurous) at heart!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful example of thinking outside of the box!! Review: I enjoyed this book as a small child. I read it to my younger siblings in the sixties, my students in the seventies, and my son in the eighties. I still have my original copy and would recommend it to children of all ages. Elmer Elevator is a loyal young lad who shows great initiative and courage.
Rating: Summary: The book was great I read it twice. Review: I read it in first grade and in third grade last week
( 3-19-97). I thought it was good because the pictures told you a lot about the story. My favorite part was when Elmer made a bridge out of crocidiles.I am 9 years old.
Rating: Summary: FUN! Review: I read it to my 5 and 6 yeard sons with my mother eavesdropping. No one would let me stop so I read it straight through. The boys really enjoyed the maps. My six year old was very unhappy when it ended! We were happy to see there are two more tales.
Rating: Summary: ***** Review: I read this book about 5 years ago, in first grade. My teacher had it on the book rack and I read it (along with most of the other ones). I can't remember most of the plot, characters, or anything else, all I remember is that I LOVED it. I'm going to try to read it again someday. Although this book is said to be for 9-12 year olds, I would definately say it's for 8 and under kids, maybe nine at a stretch (average books for my age group I read three years ago). If you're trying to get your kid to read, buy them this book. Nice and easy, but with enough action to satisfy any imagination.
Rating: Summary: It is still a great book Review: I read this book for the first time in 3rd grade. It is a book I reread every year to remember the ability of a great book to take you away. I am now 25 and have to replace the 3rd copy of the book, as it gets so much wear. A wonderful and timeless book for children
Rating: Summary: A fun adventure story -- perfect to read to 4-5 year olds. Review: I read this book to my five-year old son and his four-year old friend in one sitting. It took us a little over an hour. They were enthralled thru the entire story. It is about the clever tactics a boy employs to free a dragon from a island of animals.
