A. Milne children's classic "Winnie-the-Pooh have done so by the time they get to kindergarten. It has taken me a little longer - until last week, as a matter of fact. On first try, I did not get very far. I decided my failure was not due to my resistance to the teachings of The Way, but because I had never read "Winnie-the-Pooh".The production is performed by the incredible Peter Dennis, who plays all the parts with flawless confidence. The graceful, original music for piano and woodwind is by Don Davis. THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR - J.C. MARTIN

His warm British tenor successfully portrays stuffed, slow-speaking Pooh Bear; busy, easily rattled Rabbit; excitable Roo; melancholic Eeyore; bouncing and optimistic Tigger; and snorting, nervous Piglet. Changes in vocal pace and timbre, as well as varying animal "accents", make this an excellent performance. Between stories, music as light as sunlight filtering through the Wood enhances the text and renders this excellent production outstanding! AUDIOFILE 1997 - J.H.B.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Actor Peter Dennis turns in a meltingly lovely narration Review: The unabridged recording of A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories and the 44 verses from When We Were Very Young is my best bet for a holiday gift for a young child. This is neither the hyperactive stuff of Disney nor the saccharine treacle of so many other children's recordings. The recording has a wonderful pastoral feeling to it. It is sweetness and warm-hearted fun through and through. Actor Peter Dennis turns in a meltingly lovely narration. His voice is calm and friendly, yet he manages distinctive voices for each of the characters. He does an amazing little snorting noise for Piglet. Eeyore is suitably dour, and Pooh, the "bear of very little brain", sounds endearingly witty. This is an imaginative production to boot, with original music and sound-effects. In the beginning, there's a grandfather-sounding clock ticking serenely in the background. In the outdoor scenes, frequently there are birds chirping. In many productions, sound-effects are too loud and compete with the narration, but this is the first one to have gotten the balance just right. PHILADELPHIA ENQUIRER - SANDY BAUERS
