Rating: Summary: The best gift my son ever got Review: My husband collects rhinos so this gift was to both him and my 20 month old son. I think that Sandra Boynton has outdone herself in this effort. My son and husband take this tape/book along on all their road trips and it gives us a happy break from the monotony of playing with toys and talking. They both now know all the words so that they can sing along with the tape.
Rating: Summary: Excellent choice for kids AND parents! Review: Rhinoceros Tap is far and away the best tape/book I've seen in recent years. The songs are fun without making parents crazy. In fact, we all like to sing along. The only complaint I had was that the songs are pitched a little too low for children to sing comfortably. The tape is well done and the book is wonderful! One half is simply words and illustrations and the other half is the actual sheet music! WOW! I can't say enough about this set. It is definitely worth the price and the wait!
Rating: Summary: One of the best children's music tapes available. Review: Sandra Boynton and Michael Ford have teamed up to create one of the happiest, hippest tapes available. Both kids and parents will love it, even after hundreds of hearings. The tape should be better known--it's leagues ahead of the dreck that is marketed as "children's music" these days, and well worth the price. Favorite songs include "Bad Babies," "Tickle Time" and "Oh, Lonely Peas." Workman, if you want someone to go and sell this as a backlist title, give me a call...
Rating: Summary: A Must Have for LONG Rides with kids in the Car Review: Sandra Boynton's book and cassette not only have the kids singing but my husband and I find ourselves humming the tunes too! We were facing a nine and eight hour car trips with three kids (3, 2 and 3 weeks) and this made the trip go FASTER! The tunes and words are catchy and easy to sing along with. Some of the songs are from Boynton's other books, like"Barnyard Dance". Others became new favorites to us; Oh Lonely Peas and Bad Babies. Unlike other kid cassettes we have, this creation is done perfectly! Kids and their parents can both enjoy the humor, music and cleverness of Boynton and Ford. This became the only tape played in our car whenever we went anywhere, in fact we played the tape so much from August to October we wore it out. I'm buying another set today!
Rating: Summary: An Adult can listen again, and again, and... Review: So many children's tapes leave out the adults. Not THIS one! The kids beg to listen, and I'm only too happy to let them! The sublime humor in "I Love You More than Cheese" and "The Crabby Song" leave even the adults crying for MORE! I'm afraid I've become a "hungry dinosaur" for MORE of Boynton's songs!
Rating: Summary: Fantastically entertaining for kids and adults Review: The tape is such a wonderful break from Disney songs. My daughter and I listen to it over and over again in the car and sing the songs to each other at home. The tunes are catchy and the lyrics are really funny. A must have.
Rating: Summary: Creative, fun, well worth purchase Review: This book and accompanying audio cassette is filled with creative, upbeat songs. Listed for ages 4-8, my two year old was still delighted with the tunes about tickling and peas left on the dinnerplate. Fun for wriggling, giggling, dancing or just listening.
Rating: Summary: Hysterical for the young and young at heart! Review: This is a fantastic book/tape set. My family and I listened to it on a 7 hour ride in the van and it soon became a favorite! Several of the songs were familiar to us from Boynton's book collection- "Horns To Toes" and "Barnyard Dance", and the kids and I particularly love "Oh Lonely Peas"! The songs are varied in style and there is something for everyone, even a love song called "I Love You More Than Cheese". I am ordering 2 more sets for a gift for my 7 year old neice and a spare to have at home. This will be a forever favorite!
Rating: Summary: If I could give this ten stars, I would Review: This is by far the best gift my son has ever received. He got it when he was 12 months, and is now 19 months. He loved it from day one, and loves it to this day. He sings the songs, dances to the music, and requests his "sawns" (songs) everytime he gets into the car. The best thing about this tape is that the music is completely unlike other children's songs in that it is not at all annoying and doesn't talk down to children. Adults can listen to it over and over and not get bored with it. In fact, two of my friends without children insisted on listening to the tape as we drove, even though my son was not in the car. The humor in the lyrics spans all ages, and the music is well-written and perfectly performed. I hope the authors do this again! I look forward to the sequel.
Rating: Summary: The best kids album ever! Review: This is by far the easiest to take children's music I've ever heard. Not a dry earnest folkie effort that tries to teach lessons, not a goofy jokey thing filled with mediocre musicianship, not a rehash of all of the old standards (thank God, no "Itsy Bitsy Spider"). Fresh new words (for the most part; at least one of her books comes recycled as a song), and inventive music across several genres (R&B, funk, dance hall, straight Brill Building numbers), including perhaps the first ever turkey on the make pitching woo via the blues. Adam Bryant's singing of these songs could not be improved upon even in one's imagination, and the arrangements are sprightly and appropriate. A masterpiece; brava, Ms. Boynton, you've done it again! Can you do no wrong?
