Summary: Somewhat Dark Entertainment
Review: This is my first Mary Higgins Clark novel, and I must say, I was quite entertained to a certain degree. What kinda left me wondering about this main character, Jenny is, why she would just let someone, I don't care if it is her husband, (who I think she married too soon without getting to know him better)
take her own precious daughters off into oblivion without phoning the police first. Seems she should have sensed this was a nut case from the beginning! I just found this concept utterly RIDICULOUS!! Get REAL! But despite the rought edges,I'm glad what happened at the end.

Summary: I'm a MH Clark fan, but....
Review: I love Mary Higgins Clark, and have read all of her books. This one, however, has a dark quality that left me feeling eerie, not entertained. A book to avoid if you've been a victim of domestic abuse.

Summary: The Best (and scariest) Book!
Review: I first read this book when I was eleven. I loved it so much, but I have to admit that it was really, really scary. I stayed up till midnight reading it all alone. That wasn't such a good idea because I couldn't sleep at all! I was shaking! It's a wonderful book, though, and if you like excitment and chills, get this book. Oh, and don't forget to read it during the day. Only during the day... :)

Summary: An Honest-To-Goodness Page Turner
Review: This story is great! I recently read this book and decided it was one of the best ever! Clark does an awesome job of developing characters. Erich, a wonderful gentleman, has many different sides to him, and the ending will definitly surprise you. It's so full of suspense that you can hardly read fast enough. I found myself reading it every moment I got, including the late hours of the night. The mysterious ways of the farm life makes you want to read it over and over just to see if maybe you missed something important that may explain why things are the way they are. It's kind of neat how all of the characters are related to each other in ways you never would have guessed. A wonderful book and definetly a must-read for those readers who love suspense and horror.

Summary: CHILLING PORTRAIT ETCHED IN TERROR
Review: Jenny McPartland, a divorcee and mother of 2 at 27 lives in a modest Manhattan apartment. She scrapes to make ends meet for her two daughters, Beth 3, and Tina, 2.

Her luck seems to change when she meets the charismatic Erich Krueger at an art gallery where she works. She is literally swept off her feet by Erich and subsequently marries him. They leave Manhattan for Erich's ancestral home in Granite Springs, Minnesota.

Once in Minnesota, alarming facets of Erich's personality appear. His relentless obsession with his dead mother, Caroline and his constant references to her are alarming. It is interesting that he applies no maternal name to her; she is always "Caroline." Caroline at the start of this story has been dead for over 25 years, having died in 1956 when Erich was then 10. (The story is set in 1981-83). Erich insists Jenny dress like Caroline; wear Caroline's aqua colored gown to bed; use the same pine scented soap Caroline used and in general, replace the mother he lost at 10.

More cracks appear in Erich's seemingly flawless armor. Mysterious deaths are part of the Granite Springs home. A young woman disappeared some 10 years earlier and is presumably dead; dogs also were presumably killed and Jenny and Erich's baby dies a mysterious death. Jenny's daughters say that Jenny killed their brother, that she "covered his face with a blanket."

But did she? Jenny doubts this. She also has doubts in Erich, who kidnaps the girls and hides even more terrifying secrets on and around the property. Life with Erich, as Jenny was to discover was a chilling portrait etched in terror.

Definitely worth 10 or more stars. This is my favorite book by Mary Higgins Clark.

Summary: Extremely Frightning and Chilling...Worthy of 10 stars!
Review: This has got to be one of the most chilling and awesome books I have ever had the pleasure of reading! It literally scared me at times and was on the edge of my seat reading this! This is a classic thriller with all the makings of a blockbuster movie!

~Jenny MacPartland is a single mother of two little girls Beth and Tina. She lives alone with them in an expensive apartment that is shabby and small in New York City. She works as an art dealer in one of the city's prestigeous dealerships. She meets a budding artist with loads of talent named Erich Krueger who sells his paintings for top dollar, almost unheard of for a new artist. Erich immediately begins asking her out and takes it upon himself to do things for her and loves her kids immediately! Jenny is so excited she doesn't pay heed to her neighbor's warning about him being 'too perfect' and marries him in one short month! Things couldn't be better for her and the girls when he asks her to adopt the girls since her ex-husband doesn't bother with them. Jenny is estatic that he would love her girls as much as she and urges him to adopt them.
Erich is rich, he not only paints, but is a successful rancher and owns a large ranch in Minnesota. He wants to bring them out there and live. They do and everyone is happy and things are going great until the lonely nights in the huge house were grating on her nerves as Erich would spend days in the isolated cabin in the woods painting. The eerie nights brought on strange happenings in the house and Jenny begins to feel as though she is alone in her fear. Erich has a secret...a very deep and terrifying one that could destroy Jenny's happy existence...he is hiding a past that is unthinkable and chilling. Erich is desperate to keep her and vows he will never let her go because he loves her so much, but Jenny is beginning to fear for her sanity and her very life...and the lives of her two little girls...

A twisted tale of obsession and madness that will leave chills down your spine and cause your heart to pound. This book could easily be read in one sitting, very hard to put down. It will keep you thinking about it long after you shut the lights off...but will you be able to sleep? A definate keeper! Worthy of 10 stars!
