Rating: Summary: Francine's Best!! Review: I have red 3 other of Ms. Rivers books and so far this is the best. She has truly become my favorite author. Haven't been disapointed yet!
Rating: Summary: Powerful! Review: This book was nothing less than remarkable! Five stars does not give the credit Ms. Rivers deserves for such a powerful and astonishing book as Redeeming Love. Throughout the whole thing my emotions were twisted, and I loved how she tied in the name to express different points and affections. The whole analogy between Michael and Sarah, and Hosea and Gomer, to God and us, was wonderful and made me fully see in a down-to-earth way how much God longs for us to run to him from all of our other idols. It challenged my faith and opened my eyes to how hurt our Lord feels when we disown him especially considering his grace and mercy. In conclusion, Redeeming Love is a fabulous book, certainly one of my favorites, and brought upon conviction in my own life. Well done, Francine Rivers, your God-inspired book was powerful!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful retelling of the Biblical story of Hosea Review: W-O-W!!! This book is just amazing. A retelling of the story of Hosea in an 1850s California setting. I felt so deeply for Michael all throughout, and I had such a hard time even putting the book down! (I even got scared by the waiter at a drive-in restaurant today, because I got so engrossed!) I just hope that I can have that much faith in God, and follow His will no matter what, even when it hurts or seems wrong to the worldly point of view.
Rating: Summary: awesome writing Review: One of my friends suggested I read this book. I am not one to enjoy romance because most of the romance novels out there are disgusting and trashy...but I told her I would give it a try. I was surprised and very impressed by Francine's writing, the book had romance, suspense, love, all of that and NONE of it was degrading or nasty to read. I love this book!! It tells the story of Hosea and Gomer from the Bible. The story is set in the midwest in a gold mining town. I got so frustrated with Angel, she was so stubborn. By reading the book I saw the kind of love God has for me. It is overwhelming!! I have anther of her books, Unshaken which tells the story of Ruth. I can't wait to read it!! God bless you all!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: I'm NOT a great reader. I don't know what made me pick this up...but I'm very glad I did. It takes alot to keep me interested....and at 500 pages...I never thought I'd make it. But from the first chapter....I was hooked....could not put it down! Fascinating. I'm online ordering more Francine Rivers now! Try it, you'll LOVE it! Faith, history, romance, adventure; it has it ALL!
Rating: Summary: A definite must for fans of Christian fiction Review: I loved this book. I am a Francine Rivers fan and this has to be her best. The book parallels through Angel and Michael, God's redeeming love for us, and I loved the two main characters. Francine Rivers brings a gritty reality to this story through Angel's horrific life as a prostitute - but manages not to glorify the lifestyle or go into unnecessary detail. You also understand Michael's questionning of God while obeying Him. The book grips you from the start and I could just about read the last page because I cried. Don't be put off by the 'Mills and Boons' type cover - my husband is currently reading this (after I went on about it) and he thinks it is excellent. Even writing about it now, I want to go and read it again!!!
Rating: Summary: I can relate... Review: Although at times, I felt this book was a bit repititous, it added to the story. That's the way it can be in life. Especially for those that have been abused and discarded, it is difficult to love and trust immediately. This book gave me hope and faith in God, and in mankind...
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is one of the best if not the best book that I have read. You can tell that Francine wrote the book right after becoming a Christian. The book may be fiction but the way is is written lets everyone know that God will always forgive you even if other people don't. It was a great inspiration to me. I have read all of her books I wish she had that many more to read. They lift your spirits.
Rating: Summary: Moving, powerful, and life changing Review: I'm not usually an emotional person, but this book spoke volumes into my life and my walk with Christ. Angel's life as a prostitute teaches her to be cold and unfeeling but Michael Hosea comes in and destroys her carefully constructed facade. She learns the true meaning of unconditional love and friendship. Recommend this book to everyone you know. It's great.
Rating: Summary: I give it 5 stars because I can't give it more! Review: I LOVED this book! Ordinarily, I do not recommend religious books to anyone, because what works for me will not usually work for other people. In times past, I would simply say that I enjoyed the book, but would be very noncommittal when asked if I would recommend it. This time, however, I highly recommend this book! It was an excellent retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea. It moved me from anger to love, from tears of sorrow to tears of joy. It was a great example of how God's love, expressed through man, can heal another person's heart. It showed how no matter how far we try to run, God is always there for us and with us, and He will take as much time as we need to teach us of Him and His love. Redeeming Love is, at its heart, a story of restoration and forgiveness -- the kind that has to take place not only on a spiritual level, but also on an intrapersonal level and within one's self. It's also a lesson on judgement. So many people had so quickly passed judgement on Angel that she internalized their negativity, and they missed out on the opportunity to heal her wounded spirit. Even Micheal almost missed his chance, until he allowed the Lord completely bend his will to the divine purpose the Lord had intended. This book will make you fully appreciate the goodness of the Lord. I will awaken in your spirit a renewed desire to be drawn into His fold. If you are not moved by this story, check your pulse, you may be dead.
