Rating: Summary: Just the right blend of heat and mystery! Review: Love Amanda Quick. She is by far one of my many favorires in the romance suspense genre. A woman that knows her craft and she knows how to use it! Dont Look Back is one romantic suspense story you don't want to miss!
Rating: Summary: No emotional depth; uninspiring Review: My book club accidentally shipped me "Don't Look Back." As it looked mildly interesting and I hadn't read Amanda Quick before, I kept it. Then I realized I needed to read "Slightly Shady" first. So I bought it and was truly disappointed. The characters, what I could make of them (with little written about their physical characteristics), were uninspiring. There was little emotional depth to the story. You hardly ever saw what the characters are thinking or feeling. I just could not get to know or even like Lavinia or Tobias. I did read both books, and by the end of "Don't Look Back" I was mildly amused by the dialogue. So I give 2 stars for good dialogue and great plotting. That's all these two books have going for them.
Rating: Summary: "A Writer I Enjoy" Review: No matter what name this writer happens to be writing under at the time, she can't fool me! I would know her style anywhere! I love her and all of her books. This one is no different. A great read by a great writer!

Rating: Summary: don't look back Review: Not one of Quick's best. I wouldn't buy the book. The characters are not well developed and the plot isn't interesting at all (too similar to other plots). I feel that she is cut and pasting her plots.
Rating: Summary: Give her a break! Review: Once again, Amanda Quick has produced an interesting, witty, enjoyable historical mystery romance. I think if you have read even a few of her previous works, you know that she follows a predictable pattern. But, it works. I read each and every one of her books no matter what the reviewers say because I know I will be entertained for a few hours.
Rating: Summary: humorous Regency mystery Review: Pushed by his lovely wife Celeste who sees her husband's skills as a means to enter society, Dr. Howard Hudson moves to London to open up a medical practice. Howard uses mesmerism to minister to patients suffering from nervous disorders. However, the elation felt by the move turns ugly when someone murders Celeste and apparently also steals a valuable bracelet.Howard asks his long-term friend and fellow mesmerist Lavinia Lake to investigate who killed his wife. Fearing for her safety, Lavinia's lover and partner Tobias March tries to persuade her not to get involved. Tobias firmly believes Hudson killed his spouse and wants Lavinia to locate the missing jewelry before he disposes of his so-called friend. However, Lavinia remains as obstinate as ever and begins making inquiries with the help of Tobias' brother-in-law Anthony and Lavinia's niece Emeline. Tobias soon feels obligated to help if he wants to keep the three people he loves safe. DON'T LOOK BACK is a humorous Regency mystery with a touch of romance as a secondary subplot. The quick story line is quite funny especially when an exasperated Tobias tries to keep Lavinia from diving off the deep end as is her penchant. As Amanda Quick did with the Lake-March first novel SLIGHTLY SHADY, the author provides a delightful who-done-it. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: dull, dull, dull... Review: Quck continues her trend of writing increasingly worse books. The story is incredibly dull...there's no action, just plenty of dull non-sparkling dialogue and boring characters. I don't understand how her writing has weakened so from her first enjoyable books (scandal, surrender, etc.). The ending is such that I'm sure we'll endure another story about the March/Lake investigative team.
Rating: Summary: Where's the old Amanda Quick? Review: Thankfully, I checked this out of the library. I was appalled to find that this was a sequel to Slightly Shady involving the same characters. I read Amanda Quick for the combination of romance and mystery. By using the same characters, she completely got rid of the romantic tension. Lavinia and Tobias were good characters but they aren't the best ones she's ever had and they certainly aren't compelling enough to inspire two books. She never even really described Tobias's looks in the first one. By using the same characters, Amanda Quick is declaring herself a mystery writer instead of a romance writer. Unfortunately, her mysteries are a bit predictable and often unrealistic. I hate to say that since I absolutely love her earlier works. I've stopped rushing out to buy her books. Now I borrow them from the library.
Rating: Summary: So So Review: This book was interesting while reading it. I had read Slightly Shady before this one. I found Lavina not to be so much like herself in this one, yet to me she wasn't as annyoning as in the pass. I thought the background plot between Anthony and Emiline was great. However a day within reading this book I totally forget how it ended!!
