Summary: This book is off the Chain!!!!!
Review: This book was amazingly wonderful. The story is real and the characters are so real! it makes you think that the characters are actually friends of your own or they may resemble people that you have actually met. This was the first book of Eric jerome Dickey's that I have read and as soon as I finished this one, I went out and bought the other 5 books that he had written! they all measured up. Thanks to Eric Jerome Dickey for reaching out and touching a part of my soul that even I didn't know existed. Everyone should get this and all the other books written by Mr. Dickey 1) Friends & Lovers 2) Sister, Sister 3) Cheaters 4) Liars Game 5) Between Lovers and 6) Got To Be Real!

Summary: You Must Read
Review: Milk In My Coffee talked about how two feel in love with one another despite their differences. They realized that color doesn't matter and that they would be together despite what everybody thinks. We should all learn from this and my black sisters let's not hate on the other sister's who date our black men because we date their men as well. If you like milk in your coffee I say more power to you and don't playa hate.

Summary: Bottoms Up
Review: This book was amazing! The characters were so well built, it felt as if they were real. Eric Jerome Dickey certainly knows how to write a well thought out and certainly true to life book. This read will most definitely leave you with a caffeine high for more of this incredible authors works.

Summary: Dickey mastered suspense
Review: You will never guess the ending, it is worth it and it shows that sometimes people really don't know what they want.

Summary: Unfortunately old stereotypes still sell new books
Review: I picked up this book in a Japanese bookstore, hoping to find a different perspective on interracial dating. I have to say that I was very disappointed with the way in which Dickey unrealistically portray's the characters in this book and even the topic of interracial dating itself. Why does he have to use the same old offensive "tragic mulatto" formula to sell his books? Why is he contributing to mass media's negative portrayals of Black women in order to make a buck for himself? Had Jordan's Black girlfriend not been uppity, feisty, out of control and sexually loose and had Kimberly not revealed her Black roots, would the outcome have been the same? It is especially dishartening to me that a Black man would make all these comparisons which negate Black women and put us into the same degrating box that runs constant in non-Black media. Not all of us wear weaves, hate white women or denounce interracial relationships. I gave this book two stars because if I cut through the rather annoying and excessive use of brand references, I liked certain aspects of his writing style.

Summary: Who Would'a Thought...
Review: I really related to the book. It was reality, these things happen all the time. People are always trying to play someone out. I wasn't too crazy about the reunion, I had to skim through those chapters. Some parts were slow and little too detailed for me. But nevertheless, the book was very good. I could not put it down. I was always wanting to know what was going to happen next. I think this was the first book I enjoyed from beginning to end. And great to read on the Path on your way to work...I can't wait to get more.

Summary: The girl is a sister!!
Review: Although I am not, it didn't matter. I am Puerto Rican, but I could really relate. It was a shock to find out about Kimberly Chavers. That shows you can't judge a book...you know how it goes. I enjoyed the book!! It kept me going throughout. I went through every emotion and I've never been a book fan. This is actually the first one I've enjoyed and couldn't wait to pick up again. It felt as if someone was giving me some real good gossip. I can't wait to read more from Eric Jerome Dickey. I just ordered Cheater and I hope it's just as good.

Summary: Easy, predictable read
Review: This book touches on but never fully explores interracial romance. Sure, there's background characters that question the love affair, and you do get a sense of the reluctance that the main character feels, but it's really only 2 dimensional. I bought this book to read on an airplane, and really that is all it's good for. It's not particularly funny, or the characters particularly thought-provoking. I haven't read Dickey's other novels, so if you're looking for one of his to read, I suggest you begin with a different one.

Summary: A Realistic and Good Book
Review: I thought this book was going to be good because of what I'd heard about it and because there aren't a lot of good books about two-toned relationships. At first I didn't think I'd really like the book because I didn't really like Kimberly because she's too bold - I would have liked it more if Jordan would have done more of the chasing. Another reason I didn't think I'd like the book at first, is because I thought it might be a book of nothing more than boring love scenes. But thank goodness it only had a few boring love scenes. The book did go off on tangents that had nothing to do with the two main character's relationship, but that's good, because those tangents gave the book depth and personality. The book would have been boring if it was nothing more than Jordan and Kimberly's relationship. The book had lots of surprises that made it good. I loved and enjoyed the book (one of my favorite parts, in addition to the interesting surprises, was 'Family Reunion'). But I think the main focus of the book wasn't just about two-toned relationships, it was about stereotyping, doing what's best for you, and just being yourself and discovering yourself and appreciating all of you no matter what you're made of or where you came from or where you're going - which is all part of who you are. The characters and situations were realistic. Jordan was admirable - both noble but yet humble. Even though I am giving the book 5 stars, I still don't think Kimberly deserves Jordan. I never really liked her - not because of her secrets, because I can understand why she needed to be secretive about them - but because she was too bold and did most of the chasing. Jordan fell for it, but he deserved much better.

Summary: A DIFFERENT FLAVOR
Review: All of Eric Jerome Dickey's books are good (and well worth reading), but MILK IN MY COFFEE is wonderful. This book gets away from the standard man/woman adventures and misadventures, and introduces a stronger storyline with better, more believable and deeper developed characters. It's the book where Dickey did his biggest writing stretch and it really pays off.

This is the story of Jordan, a young Black New Yorker, with a Southern upbringing, who's trying to get out of a relationship that didn't work; a relationship that may have left the gift that keeps on taking. It's also the story of Kimberly, a young, White New Yorker, who's a striving artist. These two people acknowledge an instant attraction and begin an intimate relationship. Their biracial companionship causes problems for them by the general public, their friends and ex's.

The minor players who contribute to the mayhem are Jordan's ex-girlfrend and his best friend.

The ending to MILK IN MY COFFER is surprising, well thought-out and-well written. Several of the players are not what they seem, in a finale that lets truth and honor out the window.

I highly recommend this book. It's a keeper! Dickey, keep 'em coming.
