Summary: Hot Chocolate & M&Ms
Review: I read this book in one sitting. The book was realistiic, placing the reader in a world of stereotypes, actions & reactions. Full of surprises, twists, & unexpected developements. I don't like books with a lot of "fluff", everything tied up neatly, beautifiul people with lots of money & no worries... In this book, you can relate. To friendships & worries & the whole being single "scence". I loved this book & am looking forward to reading his other books. Grab a cup of hot chocolate & a bag of M&Ms and treat yourself to this excellent book!

Summary: Made me change my attitude and view about relationships.
Review: Like my title said, this novel forced me to question my attitudes about interracial relationships at the door. I never thought I had a negative attitude about interracial relationships, but I did.

Through Jordan's voice, I could actually feel his discomfort when African-Americans saw him with Kimberly, how he felt alienated from other African-Americans.

Through Kimberly's voice, I saw how alienated she felt, how she tried (unsuccessfully, I might add) to identify with her family, and why she lived her life the way she chose (not that I would agree with her choices).

I didn't like the fact that Jordan let Kimberly was off the hook about her secrets, especially since he was kind of forced to be honest with her (as honest as a person can be when you first start dating someone). Maybe Jordan was just trying to take the high road and let it go. If so, he's a better person than I am (smile!)

I did learn valuable lessons: love truly has no color and all meaningful relationships require trust, honesty, and respect. If those three are missing, you are wasting your time and the other person's time. Nice work, Mr. Dickey!

Summary: Too Many Stereotypes
Review: The novel plays up to the stereotype that all black men want a white woman. Also that he would leave a good black woman the moment a white woman gives him glance. After reading this novel, I know that I would never read or purchase anything else by this author. I am very disappointed in this book as well as for this person being of African-American origin.

Summary: Eric Jerome Dickey
Review: The topic of interracial dating has gotten its fair share of debate. To be honest, it's a subject that will get some "sistahs" heads moving quicker than a speed of lightening. While this subject has caused many heated discussions, Author, Eric Jerome Dickey's in his novel, Milk in my Coffee, set in New York City, decides to tackle this issue in his own creative style.

The main characters of this book are Jordan Greene, a young, professional brotha, reared in Tennessee; and Kimberly Chavers, a young, white artist, who was raised as a military brat. This story set in motion when Jordan and Kimberly meet on a cold December day in a cab ride. Although this book focuses around the romantic relationship that eventually ensues between Jordan and Kimberly, the lives of Jordan's girlfriend, Janette, brothers, Reggie and Darrell, along with his best friend, Solomon, and his girlfriend, Zoƫ, as well as, Kimberly's best friend of Jamaican descent, were all smoothly intertwined and added flavor to this novel.

While on the cab ride, Jordan and Kimberly began having an interesting conversation and would before long learn that they lived within close proximities of each other. During their dialogue, Jordan would soon find himself becoming relaxed, intrigued and even attracted to Kimberly. These feelings began to make him feel uncomfortable. After all, Kimberly was a white woman, and Jordan had never had any interest or the intention to date one because he was only "down" with the sistahs. Therefore, he couldn't understand his current thoughts and more importantly, why his body temperature started rising in Kimberly's presence. Jordan was always known for his "power to the people" stance, so this cab ride really perplexed him. On the other hand, Kimberly was at ease engaging in conversation with Jordan and had no problems in finding him attractive.
From that very moment in the cab, Kimberly and Jordan both had an attraction towards each other. Kimberly even invites Jordan over to her place on the very day of their encounter.

Jordan would eventually succumb to his feelings for Kimberly and a romantic relationship would soon develop between them. Although Jordan and Kimberly are comfortable with their relationship, they soon learn that they must ignore the negative comments and stares from some of their friends, family members and even strangers. They decide to take a chance on love by following their own hearts and not focusing on what other people had to say about them. With a few twists and turns, Jordan and Kimberly learn that what matters most in life is the power of love, and when it's all said and done, everyone's heart beats the same way, whether their skin is black or white.

After reading this novel, I now see why Dickey is recognized for being a master at the craft of writing. His characterization and dialogue are superb throughout the entire novel. Dickey knows how to pull the reader into the story from the very first page. This novel is entertaining and thought-provoking and clearly demonstrates that the color of a person's skin has no barring on love. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this page-turning novel. You won't be disappointed. I certainly wasn't.

Summary: Love Has No Color
Review: This was another great read by EJD. Milk in My Coffee shows the struggles of what love, friendship, betrayal, and family entail when put together. The novel also gives us a glimpse of what bi-racial couples go through. After reading MIMC, you will begin to realize that love has no color. As long as the person you're in a relationship with is making you happy, that is the only thing that matters. You can either be miserable and alone, because of what others might think, or you can choose love and happiness. That is what this book symbolizes. The twists and turns, and surprises in this book will keep you turning the pages until the end.

Summary: Don't judge this book by its cover!
Review: When I first picked up a copy of ejd's "Milk In My Coffee", I thought it would be about interracial dating: black man with white woman. But when I looked at the cover, the white woman didn't seem... WHITE. As I read the story and learned more about her, I realized that what I'd "predicted" was true. This is an excellent novel and will definitely go into my personal library, along with ejd's other works. Ever since I first read one of his books, ejd has never let me down.

Summary: Terry Mcmillan's Brother by Art
Review: With out a doubt Eric Jerome Dickey is an outstanding author. Milk in My Coffee allowed me to see, as well as belive that although males and females live in different worlds, it is so amazing how males and females live in the same world as well. To see how Jordan Greene ,aka "SmooVe", deals with some of the craziest but also realistic situations is amazing. It allows readers to really see that men are emotional, they just don't show it as openly as women do. Also, to be introduced to Kimberly Chavers and to see her characteristics Dickey helps to teach the lesson, never judge a book by its cover. Milk in My Coffee also makes me want to check out another novel by Dickey. Just like Terry McMillain's novels "Waiting To Exhale", and "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" became movies, I looked forward to seeing an awesome director make a movie out of some of Dickey's work. Of course all readers know that a movie will never be as good as the authors's work. Without a doubt I look forward to Dickey's next piece of work.
