Rating: Summary: Talented! Review: Eric does it again! We recommend that you read his other books if you haven't already done so. People get so emotional about interracial dating. Eric puts this into perspective for the reader. He repeats the message that love does not have a color, it truly comes from the heart.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyed this book. The ending was surprising. Review: I enjoyed this book. The ending of this book shows you just how "assumptions" can be a foolish thing.
Rating: Summary: A new insight into the interacial lifestyle. Review: This book caused me to review my perspective on interacial relationships. I for the first time had some insight into how men feel, sistas feel and how hard it is for both parties to overcome the stigmatisms that are faced within that type of relationship. It also gave me some much needed insight into the world of the biracial child. Kimberly as a character faces many difficulties however her true war is within her self. This book of conflict, love, economics, social mores and values was of great interst and kept me reading for two days straight.
Rating: Summary: TOO DEEP!!! Review: All I can say is...WOW!!! I've been blown away. For some, MIMC may be difficult to swallow simply because it makes one question their own character and integrity. Why did I, an African American female, feel relieved upon finding out that Kimberly was indeed African American? It is a question which still remains unanswered. As with any of EJD novels, I felt that I was able to identify with all characters, even those I despised in some way or another. Either I'd been in similiar situations or know those thereof. What has been written in MIMC certainly is no "negative stereotype", but REALITY! There are indeed Jordans and Kimberlys and Solomons (ladies we have certainly known a Solomon or two), as well as J'nettes and Wandas. If you are without any traits of any of these characters or have not known anyone with them, just keep living, your bound to meet one.Eric Dickey, my hat is off to you, you defiantly have a "no fear" mentally to take on such a delicate subject matter. One that I must say you've handled quite well. Apparently, you are a deep thinker. I love it!! The twist and turns of this novel validates that you are a writer to be reckoned with. My recommendation is that your next novel be that of a mystery. Without a doubt you have razzled and dazzled many of us with your romantic, African American, 90's flavored love stories. You are far and beyond the writer that I thought you'd ever to be.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Review: This book kept my interest from beginning to end. I have to admit when I realized the topic of a white woman and black man I felt a little edgy. However, after I got to know Kimberly Chavers' personality I ended up liking her. Good job Eric.
Rating: Summary: In love with your books Review: I really loved this book! I love all of your books and I look forward to "Cheaters". Eric you really know black women and men when it comes to relationships. Personally, I would not mind meeting you in person! Your Big fan from The City of Roses (Portland, OR) Gari Barnes (female)
Rating: Summary: Breaking down the color barrier with a surprising twist Review: Mr. Dickey as always provides a realistic look at relationships: past-lovers, lovers, best friends, and families. Never have I read novels by a brother who could actually write from the point of view of a black woman and make me believe it. "Milk in My Coffee" dealt with issues still very sensitive to African American women and the country. I loved the twist that came at the end. I also admire Mr. Dickey's ties to his roots. Being from a small town in TN and my husband is a native of Memphis, I found myself reading parts of the book that took Jordan Greene back home and him saying "yeh that's in (pick your direction) Memphis" or "my dad lives a few streets over from there." I look forward to reading "Cheaters" it takes me only a day to read your stuff, I can't put it down
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: You are a great writer. I've read all of your books and enjoyed each and everyone. Continue to entertain your fans.
Rating: Summary: This book was great, very well written. Review: This book was not the traditional black man, white girl scenerio. It was a different twist which made the book very interesting. The characters in the book seemed to come alive and each had a story to tell. I couldn't put it down until I finished the entire book. P.S. The nice picture of the author on the cover of the book was an added incentive to read the book. (smile)
Rating: Summary: Dickey covers a topic not easily found in today's fiction. Review: Every one should read this book no matter what their color. Dickey brings to life real characters dealing with today's issues. I think it is wonderful that he is opening people's eyes to interracial relationships, that they have the same basis as all other relationships. We need more authors to address this topic with the same candor and sensitivity. I can not wait to read more of Dickey's work.
