Rating: Summary: It's a good read but leaves sisters looking bad Review: Milk in my coffee is a good read with lots of twists and turns in the story. The characters are deep and have a lot of baggage that they need to work through or drop. However the book seems to attack the black woman making her look like a player and the "brotha", a poor victim. Jordan was portrayed as a weak brother who couldn't cut it with the sista's. Jordan did not take enough responsibility for his own life and allowed himself to be "dominated" by the black woman. On a positive note, the book dealt abruptly with stereotypes and racism in the black community. The book clearly demonstrated that whites alone do not have the corner on racism, and there is a lot of self hatred in the black community. A must read, as it is a powerful book on the complex issues of racism within racial groups and between racial groups.
Rating: Summary: E.J.D U GO BOY U R THE MAN Review: I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY BUT IT'S THE BOMB I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I'M SURE I WILL LOVE THE OTHERS. I LIKE TO READ A BOOK THAT I CAN FEEL AND I REALLY FELT THE LOVE, LAUGHTER, THE PAIN, AND THE HEARTACHE AND THATS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS BOOK I WAS SO INTO AT. Rating: Summary: Great Book, colorful, hip, and mordern Review: Whoever doesn't like this book is crazy, it's odvious that they can't enjoy African-Amerocan literature. Milk in my Coffee has spice, it's a creative way of showing one of today's major issues from both sides. I'm a African-American woman and I don't feel threatened by white women because I know what I've got is real. So we all need to keep it real and give the man his props!! Eric Jerome you go boy, job well done!
Rating: Summary: It's okay if you're into interracial committments. Review: I really like Mr. Dickey's works, however it took me a while to get into this book. I'm not big on interracial relationships so it was slow beginnings. I'm not knocking any one's perference, it's just not me. All in all, it's still good reading. Cheaters is next on my list.
Rating: Summary: Give me a break this is a total waste of my money Review: I must have not read the same book as the rest of you. The whole story is totally unrealistic and is full of character assassination. I know that everyone has there own little secrets but none of these people are true to themselves or the people they say that they love. I have to agree w/the QUEEN from Washington she is one of the few people that told the truth about this book. One last commit for Jonathan Smith for you to even have the preconceived notion that black women are out there torturing black men tells me that either you are not African American or you have already cross over the other side and my point is that you my friend will never be able to understand the depth that this reader is trying to give to you. And if you ARE black then you need to ask yourself who are you being true to.
Rating: Summary: Really Memorable Review: I think Jordan (the main character), is the type of man that most women would kill for. Unlike his 2 crazy brothers. :o) This book was funny, romantic and touching. You could feel his pain over the break up with his best friend Soloman. I wanted to give him a can of whoop a--!! Kimberly was lively, adventurous and real. The hospital scene with Jordan and her parents had me rolling on the floor laughing. Thanks for making my couple of days Mr. Dickey. Great job!!!
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL BOOK - HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!! Review: Okay I must be honest - being an African American woman I was kind of not into reading a book about an interracial relationship - I am glad that I changed my mind!!!!!!! This book was excellent! It made me see interracial relationships from a different perspective - and somewhat understand and appreciate them. The ending totally BLEW MY MIND!!!!!!!! (No I won't tell) I have just ordered Cheaters and I am looking forward to it - thank you Mr. Dickey for this book - YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Review: I think that Eric Dickey is the best male author there is. I have all of his books. This book (Milk In My Coffee) was so excellent. I enjoyed every word. I could not wait until my reading time to read this book. Usually it would take me two weeks to read a book, but it took me one week. Love it!!!
Rating: Summary: SURPRISE SURPRISE Review: JORDAN AND KIMBERLY PERFECT TOGETHER. I AM VERY OPEN AND SOME CHARACTERS MADE ME MAD BUT I'M GLAD LOVE OVER CAME THEM. YES MILK WAS IN THE COFFEE BUT IT WAS NOT MILK IT WAS STRICTLY HALF AND HALF.
Rating: Summary: Superb from Beginning to End Review: I must say that I am so happy that I had the pleasure of reading this book. I was going through a period in my life where I was looking for reading material in the arena of Black love, pride, success, unity, and strength. This book exemplies that from cover to cover. I am now a member of the Eric Jerome Dickey following and have recommended this, and all of his novels to my friends. He gets major, major, major, props for taking on the issues that he did in this one. Never a dull moment.....keep up the excellent work.
