Rating: Summary: Very Entertaining Review: I thought this book was great, and I loved the way EJD put on twist on Kimberly's character. I was great that the couple featured were able to come together in spite of what everyone else said or thought. However, one review included a comment about white women being the bomb, "real everything." Excuse me, but black women can be the bomb without, nail extensions and weaves, like white women can be without collagen implants for the lips, tans, and liposuction. Being the bomb has nothing to do with physical aspects, it's about attitude and the way you carry yourself. Kimberly was the bomb becuase of who she was, not what she looked like. This book isn't making comparisons between black and white women, just telling a story about two people who met and fell in love. Great job EJD!
Rating: Summary: The book makes black women look bad Review: Mr. Dickey is a good writer and I am looking forward in read Friends and Lovers right now. However I have major issues with this book. It really makes the black woman look bad. None of the black women were positive, just Kimberly. As a black woman living in NY, I don't know anyone like the black women in the book. I also didn't like the reference in the book were the main character insult all the black women by comparing their weaves to Kimberly's real hair.I don't think it was necessary. Being that African-American women are the main readers, I think Mr. Dickey has to take some statements into consideration. Don't put down Black women just to make Kimberly look good.
Rating: Summary: I give this book 5 stars Review: I was very suprised when the narrorator turned into Kimberly Chavers. I know the writer did a lot of research because I think he did a great job with Kimberly... He really knew that white girls use friz ease, and little stuff like that. The book gets very suprising in the ending, it will definitly keep you turning the page. As I was reading these reviews I noticed that a lot of African American woman gave many negative reviews, but guess what -- get over it.. White woman are the bomb! Real everything! (in exception to pamela lee). I really think this is a great book, and you know you want to give it its props or else you must of skipped all of the good parts. Stop player hating on the white girls -- let them do there thing. African american women have stuff going for them too.. Do you ever see a white women walk down the street and see a sista with a white boy and say something smart.. I don't think so, unless they are from the trailer parks. I loved the ending, this was a great book -- If you don't have an open mind then please do not read it, b/c it's just going to have you hating white women more.
Rating: Summary: Milk in my Coffee Review: This book like his others was wonderful. A little slow at first but once you know the characters you really get into it. I felt as though I knew the characters personlly and hated that the story had to end. I recommend this book to all readers.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful, touching novel on LIFE. Review: Before a few days ago I never knew this book existed. I am a 17 year old male, with that being said, that makes me one of "those stupid teenagers." Maybe not. My reading has tapered down in the past few years, I used to do it a lot. 3 days ago I was at my local grocery store and just happened to see this book. For some reason I felt the urge to buy the paperback right then and there (not neglecting my bag of ice) but I didn't have enough. I ended up buying it last night (Tuesday) and neglecting my ton of homework to read it for 2 and a half hours. Read more today during my study hall period, even a little during English. I had a tremendous load of homework tonight, but I neglected it and finished up the hundred-plus pages I had left. It sucked me in. This is a hell of a novel. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. By the end of the book you feel like you have watched the whole story unfold in real time from the moment Jordan meets Kimberly till the wonderful conclusion (I won't tell, lets just say it's worth reading 362 pages for!) This book shines a touching light on an interracial relationship, relationships in general and life in general. The way you get commentary from both Jordan and Kimberly is great too. You see both sides of the spectrum. I could tell you all about this book, but let me just say that it is definitely one of the greatest novels I have ever read in my life, only outdone by Ralph Ellisons "Invisible man." This book is really wonderful, you just don't want to put it down. Soon you get sucked into the lives of Jordan and Kimberly, and find yourself extremely empathetic towards both of them. The artist and the corporate slave. This is an exquisite work. Mr. Dickey, you have outdone yourself and if by some remote chance you are reading this, I just want you to know that "Milk in my Coffee" has made for two of the most enjoyable days of reading I have had in a very long time. Bravo Mr. Dickey. Bravo.
Rating: Summary: Thank you Eric for bringing out the issues Review: It was nice to see a writer bring forward some issues that are often over looked. As a white woman with two beautiful multiracial children I thought that Dickeys look on interracial relationships was intriguing, well written, and honestly a relief from the norm. I wish more writers (and people in general for that matter) could be so "colorblind". I have a new respect for this great writer.
