Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: After reading several reviews on here, I felt that I had to respond. This book has changed my life. I am Catholic, but this book does NOT denounce religion. Rather it enhances it. What Redfield was saying in the book was that there are religious leaders who would feel threatened by people experienceing spiritual fulfillment OUTSIDE of the church.I can only tell you what I've experienced and I experienced several of the things mentioned in the book before I even read it. It's uplifting and it gives one a different way to get closer to God. It is NOT saying that you can think of a shiny new car and "poof!" there it is. If more people were to follow the insights, perhaps there wouldn't be as much violence and corruption in our society as there is. This book talks of how peace between people can be acheived. Isn't that what Christianity and other religions are striving for? If a path offers peace and love as God is trying to teach us, isn't that okay? Some paths are better for some people as others are better for other people. But as long as they all lead to the same place, isn't that the goal? The Celestine Prophecy does not negate any organized religion. Perhaps, it's not for everyone, but that's okay. Just because one person is Catholic and another is Buddist does not mean that one person is right and the other wrong. How arrogant to think such a thing!
Rating: Summary: Redfield is the best Review: I could not put your books down. Thank you for making one aware of our soul.
Rating: Summary: Not what it seems Review: I first became aware of the Celestine Prophecy from a friend. Although a New Christian, he was spiritually aware that something was wrong. On reading the book myself I found that although a piece of scripture from the Bible was at the start of the book and it mentioned somethings about Jesus it was rather twisting what the Bible says, (but then twisting what the Bible means into other meanings is something New Agers are used too). I became rather concerned on reading the book because of the content, that people could be misled into things that are far from as good as they seem. It is little more than a primer into New Age and hence, into the occult (as in nasty). The New age movement talks about a loving, caring peacefull sharing world. Sounds good if you do not realise that the teachings behind New Age are those of witchcraft, spiritualism, and every vile occult practice going, including satanism. I would advise to seek Christian help if you are involved in any of the practices mentioned or using any of the other authors books, or in anything else New Age (if you are aware that it is New Age that is, there a lot of things about where they do not tell you). Please be warned It is also sad what some companies are involved with to make money despite the consequences to those that do not realise what the book(s) deal(s) with and are misled. It will be interesting to see whether this is actually printed, despite the 'interested in what people think' bit.
Rating: Summary: myself being on the great spiritual gathering Review: I found The Celestine Prophecies and the Tenth Insight both a great start to realizing that there is more to life than what the close mind percieves. I am paying greater attention to those around me, I am listening to my dreams and actually shooting towards some of them. I think that with every event in life either good or bad there is a lesson to be learned to carry forward to becoming a much rounded individual. I am a 29 year old Canadian female who has recently returned to school. I will be first majoring in Cree 100 and then furthering into journalism, I only hope that someday I will have the respect and ongrowing interest from readers that James Redfield has, James you are truly an inspiration.
Rating: Summary: It changed my life!! Review: I read 'The Celestine Prophecy'in 1994, a few months after my boyfriend had died. It was the day before New Years Eve and I was feeling very lonely. I was at a very low point in my life and looking for something - though at the time i didnt know what it was...it just happened to be 'The Celestine Prophecy'!! To some that might sound completely bonkers but i believe that the book was the thing that changed my life and made me look at life without the dark cloth that had been veiling it. Some may criticise the book for being a little to 'alternative' but if it has the power to make a very sad, depressed person optimistic for the future then it is wonderful. The book made me think about the bigger picture and perhaps the meaning of life!! What a statement to make!! For me it certainly was true and perhaps it may be for you too. Happy reading xxxx

Rating: Summary: contrived claptrap preying on the weak minded Review: I read this to understand what had tipped an acquaintance over the edge. This attempts to guide lost souls towards a new way of thinking, but in fact provides justification for alienating those you know/love in the event that they dont see the light in the way that you do. The last third of the book is a poorly disguised manifesto for Mr Redfield's chosen 'church' of thought, and he is guilty of promising assistance, but is in fact providing a reason for self destructive people to alienate themselves further. He has claimed in the past this is merely a novel, but only those weak enough to be taken in by the book are fooled by this, shame on you, you have ruined more lives than you have saved.
Rating: Summary: A very good companion to Celestine Prophecy Review: I really enjoyed the exercises and all the wonderful references to other good works. You can take the material further here and you can really study the Celestine Prophecy with this book! Its worth buying and then looking up all the neat things that James Redfield is talking about. Great for beginning seekers who want an adventure to discover truth. Very good primer for philsophy and psychology students alike!
Rating: Summary: It changed the way I see myself and everyone and thing Review: I recently finished reading The Celestine Prophecy. A friend of mine leant me the book and I could not put it down. It brought to light a lot of the feelings that I could not put into words and it honestly changed my life. I look at everything as a whole, not just as one thing. I would recomend that everyone Christian or not read this book. There are truly no words to describe how you feel after you finish, and I go back and read all of the time now. I love this book.
Rating: Summary: The most inspiring book i have ever read Review: I was introduced to this book by my friend and i couldn't put it down for 2 days until i had finished it. It was so good that when i finished reading it i went out and bought "The Celestine Prophecy: An Experiential guide" and "The Tenth Insight". Which i also thought were extremely interesting. Even though it has been a couple of years since i read it i still find it amzing hen i meet someone else who has read it and how it has changed their life.
