Rating: Summary: Could have been an interesting story Review: Although the plot and storyline intrigued me, I found the writing to be so bad that I dreaded reading the next page. I wouldn't have finished it, except that I had to for our book discussion.
Rating: Summary: Interesting to me because the people dont realize... Review: After reading this book once and once again, I have discovered that we shouldn't be hating the book because it's so pointless, but admitting your defeat to the fact that Carson McCullers has this talent to manipulate and drag you all the way to a pointless dead end.
Rating: Summary: Ewwww.... Review: I'm sorry, but after reading this book I just wanted to throw it against the wall. Frankie is so annoying that I could barely keep myself from ripping the pages apart. Frankie was an annoying and obnoxious brat who had no cares for anyone but herself. And where did her cousins death come from? It was just thrown in there for obviously no point! If I could give this book no stars I would....
Rating: Summary: very boring Review: This book was very tedious and pointless. Frankie seems very unrealistic and stupid . . .the whole book is based upon a stupid fantasy of hers. It is very tedious reading, and I'm sorry I wasted my time.
Rating: Summary: It felt like there were missing parts to the story Review: This book does get into the mind of a twelve-year old girl, but doesn't always go into detail. For instance, why is Frankie afraid of the dark? Why does she hang out in her kitchen with her cook and six year old cousin? What does she do to other kids her age that made them say she was too mean? It definitely could've used more details.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece of youth and longing Review: Don't listen to the nay-sayers. This is a great little book. It's a quick read and well worth the few hours you will devote to its pages. While it isn't as full a novel as To Kill a Mockingbird, readers who loved Scout, the young heroine of that book, will very likely find a place in their heart for Frankie. I recommend this very highly.
Rating: Summary: extremly uninteresting Review: The only reason I read "The Member of the Wedding" is because I had to write a research paper about it. I found the novel disorganized, and extremly boring. There was almost no action in the novel. The book is very difficult to read and understand. When you finish reading the novel you feel like the book is missing some pages, but it is not missing any. In "The Member of the Wedding" there wre some good points describing the problem of youth, but in general I think it was a poor written novel.
Rating: Summary: A very true-to-life book about a realistic charcter Review: I loved this book. At first, I was only reading it because I wanted to audition for the part at a local theatre, but I soon became entranced. Frankie Addams is a very real character, and I found that I related to a lot of her problems. Her longing to get out, to be a we instead of a me, it was all very close to my heart -- I am sure that it is the same for many others as well. I felt that it was very well-written. I also decided that the only reason that anyone would truly dislike the book would be becauuse they were only denying the fact that there is a little bit of Framkie Addam's longings in each of us. I loved the book, and I recommend it to anyone who can appreciate a vibrant, colored story.
Rating: Summary: An underrated book Review: Personally, I find this to be a better book that The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. It is one of my favorites, and I'm disappointed that there are so many bad reviews of it.
Rating: Summary: Maybe I wasn't paying attention Review: but this book didn't seem to have much point. The dialogue was interesting and amusing on several occasions, but when I got to the end I suspected my copy of the book was missing some pages. That was not the case. The book was just over and I was quite disappointed that I spent any time reading this one.
