Summary: A real eye opener
Review: Warren Farrell has certainly compiled a lot of good documentary evidence that shows how in many ways women are treated better than men in the USA. This book is especially recommended for people who imagine that because men hold most of the positions of secular authority, woman are being abused at the expense of men's desires. The way I see it, men tend to hold the positions associated with intellectual prestige, while women hold the prestige of physical attraction. This causes women to be treated as queens more often than men are treated as kings. One area of criticism I have is where he discusses sexual morality. Although Mr. Farrell doesn't say that sex outside of marriage is sinful, the readers can see how this sort of behavior is very problematic for men. Perhaps this is the main reason religious organizations with only male pastors are much more strongly against sexual sins (e.g. homosexuality, fornication, abortion) as compared to the religious groups that allow women to be pastors. This book is especially recommended for people who are interested in the subject of women's ordaination.

Summary: A Book That Everyone Should Read
Review: So much has changed over the last 40 years through the women's movement. And at the same time men in our society have never felt so isolated, so hurt, and in many cases, so worthless and depressed. But we as men continually do our best to keep up our mask to the outside world and make it look like everything is really just OK.

While the advancement of women's rights has definitely been something that has been good for our society the women's movement in recent years has moved far beyond the original goals and intentions of its founders and has taken on a more bitter, hurtful approach in how they treat men. We as men have become so shell-shocked with all the change that has become expected of us that oftentimes we're very concerned about how we act in the presence of women. We've been accused of being sexist and chauvinistic so often that we simply try to guide our conversations with women away from any arenas where once again we may get these accusations thrown at us. We're always trying to do our best in this area but our best rarely seems to be good enough. As a result this kills deep, meaningful communication with women from occurring with any real consistency.

In this book Warren Farrell discusses the great injustice that we as men feel directed towards us in our society today. While much has been said over the decades about a double-standard in our society that favors men, we as men feel that there are so many double standards today that favor women over us. And we know that we cannot have the ideal relationships with women that we would like to have until all of this is resolved for both men and women.

Our usual response to all of this is just to suck it all up and once again try to look like everything is OK. The idea of expressing to others that we feel like the victim in some situations in our society is one of the most embarrassing, un-manly things that most of us could ever imagine doing. And yet we continually see and feel the quiet desperation of so many men in our lives.

If you are a man you may find this book to be a great relief. You may find yourself reading it and saying to yourself, "Finally there is someone out there who understands how I feel." The truth is that there are a lot of men who feel exactly the same way you do in our society.

This book will probably have you feel like you've finally found a long lost friend.

Summary: this book changed me
Review: First introduced to Mr. Farrell's books at the age of 18 I responded with righteous indignation, "just a man making excuses" for his behavior and discarded the book. Now age 35 I have read every book he has written. His writings changed my relationship with myself (as a man), every man in my life (father, brothers grandfathers, friends and strangers) and woman in my life. I consider my vocabulary inadequate to accurately articulate the quality and integrity of Mr. Ferrell's thoughts and conclusions. Although many of Warren Farrell's ideas are contrary to common thinking --- 100 percent of his conclusions are consistent with my experience as a growing man. Purchase this book for yourself and all others that you love.

Summary: A must read for any student of human relationships
Review: Other reviewers have already given an accurate synopsis of the book. So, I won't waste your time. This is one of the most thought provoking books I have ever read. Get it! You will surely be more enlightened.

Summary: Very interesting book
Review: I'm really interested in this book, just curious to see how powerful American women are to make men cry for equality. But nowhere to buy this book in this country, nor will it be popular or have any market in this country. Because no men believe women are truly powerful here. They are all very proud to be men. We also work full day, but if there's any chores or boring and repetitive work, it goes to women first. Because they are believed to be simple-minded, careful and patient. And that's the reason I've jumped work for two times. Still men in my company who comes from outside the city said women here have too many rights, because in the rural areas, women should take all the housework at home no matter she works outside or not. So they can't think comfortably of women in city who puts career as important as family.

Summary: for our fellow travelers -- women
Review: One of the most important books I've ever read. There are well-known feminists, esp. first-line feminists, who endorse it
as well. "Explodes the culture of victimhood," etc. I
think every *woman* needs to read it, esp. American
women. After I read the book, I was probably too
apoplectic to explain it to a woman, but Farrell has
done it, and calmy -- with every page filled with
facts and figures that turn much of modern-day
"women's studies" on its head. Tell your friends about this one!

Summary: A Must Read
Review: Women who have always been suspicious of "woman as victim" propaganda: read this book and get it into the hands of every man and woman you know. Warren Farrell is a true hero.

Summary: Finally a book that is not biased towards men
Review: I earlier read books that are on relationships between men and women. These books are almost always biased towards men (we call this "insight"). If a book is biased towards women, we call it "sexism".

The Myth of Male Power is a book that deals with men's issues such als early life expectance, male victims and the fact that many women live on men's cost (i.e. spending obligation in restaurants). It finally becomes clear what the exact male problems are and not it's time that men will realize that it's not only easy-going to be a man. However, well-thinking men already know of this problems.

This book is much better than books that deals with men-women issues (relationships etc.), because they emphasize the fact that "men don't listen" or "men are thinking simplistic". It explains a lot of male issues in more detail, including statistics (even with sources, because of the male-bashing culture many people are skeptical if they read that men are the victim, just to name something). This book is not only a must read for men, also women can learn that it isn't that "bad" to be a woman.

Now it's time for a book that explains what women really want (a user guide for men) or a book that critically looks at women, written by a man.

Summary: Compulsory reading for post-Feminist era Men
Review: Reading it's like getting the touchy-feely flip side to Tom Leykis' radio-broadcast anger, sarcasm and profanity. Same message, however, and just as truthful.

Men, unshackle yourselves from the dark side of Male Feminism! Buy this book, read this book, do it now.

Summary: Shocking!
Review: I could write about this book for hours and not make it justice. All I will say is that it has redefined my world. It has changed the way I look at myself, the world, history and the role of men so deeply that basically all my life has been altered. No other book, and I have read thousands of them, has had such a deep impact in me. Buy it, read it, expect to be shocked. The truth is at last put in print.
