Summary: Uninspiring
Review: Patriot Games, although containing plenty of action, is too long. It's moral theme is unambiguously repeated over and over again. The emotional relationships of the characters blatantly stick out as "filler." But worst of all, the plot is almost devoid of imagination. Although the dialog is typical Clancy, which rolls with techno-babble (which, as a computer guru myself, I enjoy) and glib bravado (which helps to keep the pages turning), there is really no twist to the conclusion (which I as the reader was hoping for). All in all, when you close the book after the last page, you feel like the entire 512 pages were a waste. The Hunt for Red October is another story. First of all, half the book was techno-babble (I can't understand how the 90% of readers who know nothing about electronics and signal processing could struggle though this one). The multifarious technical aspects of the battle were enough to carry the book, presenting twists and quirks at every corner. I opine that Patriot Games, had it been written by an unknown, probably would never have played.

Summary: Great job, Tom Clancy.
Review: Well there ain't many things to tell about this book, else then WOW. This book can really keep you awake till long after midnight. Jack Ryan a "normal" history teacher, with a Marine Corps past, is on a vacation to London, were he tries to get some info for a new book. But the harmony takes a sudden end, when Ryan foils an assassination against the Prince of Whales and his family. The problem is, the terrorists ain't very happy about this action and plan an avenge-mission.

Don't try to put this book away, as you can't succeed with that

Review: An excellent action adventure book. Clancy is very detailed but still keeps the reader wanting to turn the pages. His characters are real.

Summary: Patriot Games
Review: I thought Patriot Games was on OK book. It was really long, not that that matters, but it just droned on without really any plot to it. I didn't enjoy it as much as his other books and only would read another book of his because of Rainbow Six and the good reviews of that one.

Summary: A fairy prince story with some good action
Review: This is a prequel to Hunt For Red October, where Clancy first expands on the Ryan character. It reminds me of a sappy girl's bedtime book that my daughter used to read about Polly Pocket. Polly is excited about the ballet recital, but the best part goes to her friend. Polly is happy for her friend and helps her practice. The friend gets sick and Polly has to do her friend's part in order to save the show. She is a little unsteady at first but then does a wonderful job and everyone is happy.

Patriot Games is a real fairy prince story. Ryan saves the Prince from IRA terrorists. He becomes good friends with the royal family and gets to stay at the castle. Everyone loves him, including the castle guards. We meet Ryan's perfect wife and Ryan's perfect daughter. He is a little unsteady at first but does a wonderful job and everyone is happy.

There are some exciting parts to this book as the IRA terrorist try to get back at Ryan and the Prince, and the ending is pretty good. It is just hard to believe that the Secret Service is so inept and could be outgunned by some IRA terrorists.

Summary: Totally awful
Review: What is wrong with Clancy with this one? I have read Rainbow Six and The Hunt for Red October and thoroughly enjoyed them but I had to force myself to read this one. It is totally awful. It is slow and British people do not speak the way that he says they do. I've never heard one say "chap". Do NOT waste your time with this book.

Summary: THIS BOOK ROCKS!
Review: This book is so good you will not be able to eat, sleep, or do anything else until you finish it! It is one of THE BEST books Tom Clancy has ever written! The action is well written and the insights into the CIA are fascinating! It is about a guy named Jack Ryan who saves the Prince and Princess of Wales from a terrist attack and then must suffer the ramifications. The ending will leave you spellbound. IT IS AWESOME! There are no adjectives in the English language that can possibly describe how much I liked this book! IT is an instant classic!

Summary: WHOOOO! a lot of action
Review: This was truly a good book. It is about Jack Ryan and his family. Jack is on vacation in Britain when some terrerists start shooting the heck out of a Rolls Royce. Jack who is unarmed four-arm-shivers the guy and then gets shot. Then the castle gaurd comes and the attack is stopped. Jack recovers from his bullet wound the becomes the terrerists number 1 target. Led by Sean Miller these Irish terrerists are relentless and could care less about who they kill.

Summary: Sensational
Review: Patriot Games was my first "Clancy" and it was a thrilling novel and probably one of his best. I've read many more since Patriot Games and if you like Jack Ryan, than this is a must read.
