Summary: Great Book! Exciting and Breath Taking
Review: Patriot Games is such a great book that deserves so many people's attention. Mr.Clancy has gone into great detail and it seems so real. When I was reading this book, my head had the pictures of the book as I read along parts with great violence and action. This book is truely a remarkable book and I have recommended to all my friends and my 8th grade teachers.

Summary: This is a book that you never want to end.
Review: Tom Clancy really over did himself with this action packed thriller. This book explains what can happen in the world of international terrorisim. Jack Ryan, PhD, is a naval historian who happed to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. He and his family are living in fear of an escaped terrorist named Sean Miller. An attack on Ryan's family leads him into hunting down the creature that could do this to his pregnant wife and four year old daughter. But before he could find the terrorist, the terrorist found him...

Summary: ONE OF CLANCY'S BEST EVER!
Review: Tom Clancy's Patriot Games was the first book of his that I read, and it got me hooked. I love it. Since then I have read almost all of his other books, and they were great too, but this is deffinatelly one of his best. If you liked this one, I would suggest reading The Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising, Debt of Honor, and Executive Orders.

Summary: See the movie-don't read the book
Review: It is not often I say this-but see the movie, don't read the book. The movie is far more polished, believeable, and interesting. And I generally do like Tom Clancy-we went to the same college and I am familiar with the Annapolis area. But portions of this book are almost painful to read. It is not very well written, it often gets bogged down in ridiculous minutae. Several pages are devoted to Ryan's fear of flying on the Concord-my advice is just skip over these sections. The story is interesting but the sexism , unrealistic scenarios, and pompousness severely detract from it. This book is pure fantasy-whomever believes it to be realistic needs a serious reality check. Jack Ryan appears to be Tom Clancy's alter ego. He is annoying and juvenile-from his ludicrous pompous banter with the Royals to his successful taking on of a defense lawyer when he is supposed to giving testimony as a witness. If I were Prince Charles I would seriously consider suing Mr. Clancy for libel. I know Ryan is supposed to be a larger-than-life hero but there comes a point when his pompousness and chauvenism is simply too much to take. Mr. Clancy had reached and exceeded that point. The Hunt for Red October was a well-written, suspenseful book-read it instead.

Summary: Classic Tom Clancy
Review: This book was fantastic. The pace and length are reminiscent of The Hunt for Red October. The characters were tough but also endearing. A perfect balance between action and drama.

Summary: EXCELLENT!! The first Clancy book that i read in two days.
Review: This book is quite definitely the best book in Clancy's Jack Ryan series. Ryan, the quintessential american hero unconsciencely gets himself involved with the ruthless ULA with a heroic act of bravery while on vacation. This book has a good balance of Ryan's personal life, and the how the CIA, FBI, and ULA respond to the events which occur throughout the book. You will lose track of time and conciousness while reading for you will be so enthralled in the book. You'll love it!!

Summary: Best of Clancy's Bunch
Review: Every time I re-read Patriot Games I find a couple of more irregularities, but over all it's a great book. Full of action, but no lacking in character development.

The irony of going back to early Clancy works is how it blows away his latest effort Rainbow Six. This makes me think he simply tried to bang out Six in as a marketing tool for the accomanying PC game.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Though long, the book is well worth the time.
Review: Patriot Games by Tom Clancy

If you're a fan of long, realistic, action filled novels, you'll love Patriot Games, but if you enjoy reading short books filled with pure action and suspense, don't even bother trying to read it, unless you are feeling adventurous. Patriot Games dives into the world of terrorism matched only by Rainbow Six.

It starts with amazing action- a terrorist attack upon the Prince and Princess of England. John Ryan, the hero of Hunt for the Red October and Clear and Present Danger, is caught in the middle. He stops the attack and kills one of the attackers; but unknowingly, he has brought himself into the world of terrorism and the cubicles of the CIA. Clancy describes beautifully, as he always does.

But then comes the part that can cause one to abandon the book: the huge number of pages that separates the action. However, if you have enough stamina and survive the dull parts, you soon get pulled back in as terrorist activity spreads for the first time into the United States. It is one of Clancy's finest, and is a thrill to read.
