Rating: Summary: Are you kidding me? Review: This is just a mediocre book from beginning to end. The acutal "heist" itself is fairly interesting, but is over before it begins. The villains are uninteresting, the "mastermind" is poorly developed and I was able to spot him with 80 pages left to go. The fact that our "hero" is a) supposed to look exactly like Wilford Brimley and b) beds every attractive woman he meets is just ludicrous and makes the entire book almost farcical. The villain goes on a killing spree
Rating: Summary: A WINNER IN MY BOOK Review: Austin's Beauford Sloan is going to be liked by all P I fans. Good plot and acton. Very good ending. Thought I had the killed pgged. I was wrong. More please.
Rating: Summary: Tender, tough hero Review: I've just bought more copies of THE EAGLE HEIST for friends. Beauford Sloan is delightful---an older hero who is tender, loyal, honest, humorous, sexy (yes) and tough. I was amazed at the concept of the opening robbery in this book. Rather unusual. Then to meet Beauford Sloan, a retired Virginia cop now a PI, who treats women with respect and abhors evil with the tenacity of a bulldog chomping on raw meat. At last, a detective who isn't drinking, having multiple personal problems, chasing women of the night or trying to forgive his ex-wife or parents for excessive emotional burdens! I like the surprise ending of this novel as Beauford travels to Spain and Moracco in search of a thief and a murderer. The true villian was a surprise. Fast action, great dialogue, and other memorable characters. Beauford's persona is based on the actor Wilford Brimley who writes a foreword for the book which must become a movie!!!
Rating: Summary: A FAST MOVING GREAT READ Review: Pick this up and you'll not put it down until the end. Good plot. Super PI. He's here to stay.
Rating: Summary: A Winner Review: A very Good PI yarn. Beauford Sloan is here to stay.
Rating: Summary: A MUST FOR PI FAN'S Review: Raymond Austin's Beauford Sloan is a book to read. I read this in on. He keeps the polt moving with every page. And if you like a PI, you are going to love Beauford Sloan.
Rating: Summary: Austin Moves into Raymond Chandler Territory Review: If you like a fast moving suspenseful mystery with twist and turns, Ray Austin's Eagle Heist has it all. Austin displays a sharp eye for plotting and characters with a perceptive ear for dialogue. PI Beauford Sloan is a masterpiece of character development along with other major and sub characters. Austin is a superb story teller and a master of intrigue. Looking forward to his next.
Rating: Summary: Austin is an up and comeing talent as a writer. Review: He's directed some of our best TV shows in the past. Now he's turned his hand to writing books. His first, The Eagle Heist is very good. His P.I. Beauford Sloan is one of the best the best out there. looking for the next of Beauford. Good luck Raymond
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE BEST P.I. I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME Review: Good luck to Beauford Sloan and Raymond Austin, the man that brought him to life. And he has brought him to life on the page. Love his eye for detail. His lead up to the plot. He also keeps a sub plot going in the background that keeps you thinking. This TV director is a find. Why so long coming to the fore. More pleased.
Rating: Summary: Would readily recommend this book to all PI fans. Review: The is a very good read. You will fall in love with Beauford Sloan. A real PI.
