Rating: Summary: Fabulous... Review: This is a wonderful book. It's not at all like the movie,so don't judge it from that. I can't even watch the movie, because it's so horrible. I love the ending in this book.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: This is the first time I have read a John Grisham book and I loved it. I could hardly put it down because I wanted to see if Mitch got away with it. A couple of twists in the tale kept up the suspense and I will be ordering the rest of his titles ASAP!
Rating: Summary: Great, but not the best I've read Review: This book was honestly a great read! But to be honest, the suspence wasn't enough . . . BUT . . . the one thing I did appreciate about this book was the fact that it was fast-paced, & didn't dwell too much on one subject.Another thing that annoyed me was that John Grisham seemed too desperate to convince the reader that Mitch McDeere's wife was attractive. Stopping traffic here (B.S.), "long brown legs" there. It was excessive.
Rating: Summary: I Was Confused? Review: I have to admit, in this case, I saw the movie before I read the book. With a few exceptions of likeness, it was difficult to believe the movie and the book were related. Why do authors allow their writings to be so mutilated? I wish I had read the book first. John Grisham is truly my favorite author. I'm very anxious to read his very latest.
Rating: Summary: Someone please stop Grisham... Review: Since I so enjoy when Grisham fans yap about "how much better the book is than the movie", I decided to take a crack at one of his more well-regarded (or at least popular) works. After a few painful days, I must say that this insipid "suspense" is truly a work to behold. The watery writing isn't so offensive until you realize that this book was (I assume) written for adults. The quick-plotting and neat and tidy wrap-ups may work for someone who wants to read, watch TV, and maybe curl their hair at the same time, but for someone who wants to get involved, this is definitely NOT the book. As sappy and disgusting as this book is, however, I fear that it may not even be his worst (this is speculative, granted), that is why I am begging John Grisham to stop before more people waste their time on his "books". And in response to my original query, no, the book was not better than the (albeit horrible) movie---at least Gary Busey brought some fire to his character, John Grisham certainly didn't...
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I have Ever read Review: The Firm is definitly the best book I have ever read! I am a teenager and I loved the book. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of reading this book! I am currently reading "The Client"ΓΏ
Rating: Summary: good grief Review: It takes a lot of guts (or possibly a brain problem) to write a book this bad. I was amazed at the thinness of the plot, the weakness of the attempts at suspense, the dull characters. Surely you can find something better to do with your time.
Rating: Summary: the firm Review: Mitch was caught between a rock and a hard place, with no choice, if he wants to live.
Rating: Summary: A fast, easy to read story Review: The Firm has a great plot, characters that are easy to understand and identify with and a quick pace. Like other Grisham novels, The Firm is not bogged down with page after page of useless detail and description. Instead, the author uses dialog to carry his story and adds just enough narrative to make the story come together. While I don't like the fact that Grisham leaves a few loose ends, I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to just about anyone interested in a fun, exciting book that doesn't make you think too much. It's a book that will keep you entertained and probably up late because you want to keep reading. (I completed it in just 3 days.)
Rating: Summary: One of my all-time faves! Review: The Firm is indeed one of my all-time favorite books. I first read this book in 1992 and 7 years later, I am reading it again for the umpteenth time! The very first paragraph is gripping and once I started reading, I toted that little paperback with me wherever I went! I am not generally into "lawyer stories" but I would have to say this took the cake.
