Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: First to start out with, I'd like to say that Dee Henderson is an amazing writer w/ the special gift of writing. I would not recommend this book. The other books she has written (O'Malley Series, Danger in the Shadows) were very well written, w/ the feeling that your can't turn the pages fast enough because it's so good. Unlike the others, True Valor was slow read, and I found my self skimming and completely skipping whole pharagraghs. But even tho I don't recommend this book, the others books by Dee Henderson I HIGHLY recommend.
Rating: Summary: A read that grows on you. Review: Having read all of Ms Henderson's books I especially like the first book in this series,TRUE DEVOTION. What made this new one in her military sereis a bit unique is the love grows through the strength of the letters our couple exchange while together and apart: she serving in the Navy and he in the Air Force. That they are both some of the time on very similar missions in the same part of the world allows for an incredibly dramatic rescue that is sure to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. In true Inspirtational Romance fashion there is no intimacy, however the sexual tension is there but more importantly so is the development of love for each other with their reliance on their faith. What I especially like about all of Ms Henderson's books is that the characters are well steeped in their own spiritual faiths or their journey toward that end. She doesn't preach to the reader and her characters are not there as a means of converting the reader. Their spirituality is who they are and as characters searching for that one true love they rely on their spirituality to make it happen. Because of this Ms Henderson's books could easily stand side by side any single title romance that was not Christian based and hold her own in the development of the couple's search for that one true love. That through this series she has chosen to have her characters be in the military and in locations right off the front page news makes it that much more enjoyable. I look forward to reading the next installment in this series and the O'Malley series. I am assured with future offerings of excellent reads which will allow me, the reader to identify with the individual journey toward faith and love through her incredible characters and interesting plots. Her research is impeccable. I wish more romance readers would take the time to throw off their misunderstandings about Inspirational Romances, they can start by reading the reigning Queen of Classic Inspirationals...Dee Henderson. No one in the this sub genre does it better than Dee Henderson.
Rating: Summary: So-So Review: I am an AVID Dee Henderson fan, and I just have to say that this book just wasn't up to par. I LOVE the 1st and 3rd ones in the Uncommon Heroes series, and the O'Malley series kept me enthralled, but this book lacked some of the magic. I didn't feel the chemistry between Bruce and Gracie the way I know Henderson is capable of creating between characters. The letters were a bit slow, too. Having said that, it's still a good read with some good military action. A fun book, just not an on-the-edge of your seat book like her others. I suggest any other of her books instead.

Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, but not her best. Review: I enjoy every Dee Henderson book I've read. True Valor was actually my first, and it's probably a good thing I started with this one. At the time I found it exciting and romantic and loved it. I've since read her entire O'Malley Series, and am working on True Honor after reading True Devotion and then True Valor a second time. I do enjoy this book and the characters, but now I feel that they are incomplete. The romance between Grace and Bruce is OK, but my least favorite of her books. Now I know the depth of emotion Ms. Henderson is capable of conveying in her writing. This book falls short of the high bar she has set with previous novels. That being said, this remains an above par action novel, especially for the military-minded. Her description of Gracie's flights and Bruce's rescues were very lively and exciting. And I found their letters back and forth to be more interesting than their in-person encounters (except maybe for the short descritions of their two post-deployment reunions, I enjoyed those parts. But that could be because I'm a military spouse and understand how emotional they can be.) My conclusion is that this is an essential read for Henderson fans, if only to make us appreciate the other books even more. For people who have never read a Dee Henderson novel, this is a good book to start with...it's still excellent writing.
Rating: Summary: I liked it, but... Review: I have read all of the other books written by Dee Henderson. The O'Malleys are great and the first Uncommon Heroes books was superb. True Valor left something to be desired. The book starts out slow and the way that the storyline goes it seems like this book is more about Jilly and Wolf instead of being a budding romance between Bruce and Gracie. I like the book, don't get me wrong, but this story moves slower and lacks the action and adventure that other books by Dee Henderson contain. To be honest, the best character in the book is Emily, the elderly Lab. I'm waiting eagerly for the third Uncommon Heroes book. Maybe I will like that better.
Rating: Summary: Slow paced Review: I have read most of Henderson's books and enjoyed them all except for this one. The story line was mediocre but all the rest is really hard to get through if you are not familiar with these planes. I made my self finish it but I really hope her next one is better. The O'Malley series are so much better! Also try Terri Blackstock's Newpointe series-excellent.
Rating: Summary: Dee Henderson Does It Again! Review: I love this series - I think this is Dee's best. I can't wait to read the rest. You will never be disappointed, or shocked by the love scenes. She keeps things real, and interesting all the way to the end
Rating: Summary: The best of the Uncommon Heroes books! Review: I really enjoyed the other two books in this series, but didn't enjoy either one quite as much as the books of the O'Malley series, so I was sure what to expect with this one. I'll say this; True Valor is a fast read and such a good one that when I finished, I immediately started rereading it! Navy Pilot Grace and Air Force Pararescue Jumper Bruce are friends, they know each other through Bruce's sister Jill. As they both set out for long deployments they began to forge a stronger bond through letters. In their letters, they encourage each other with their words and with quotes from Scripture. The sweet gentleness of their blossoming relationship is starkly contrasted by the stark background of rising tensions in the Middle East. Simply put, this is an excellent book. It clips along at a nice pace, the characters are engrossing and the days stateside are realistically all too brief. The strongest and most enjoyable part of this book, what really makes it stand out, is the eloquent letters Grace and Bruce exchange. As they share the highs and lows of military life in their letters, the reader gets an often poignent glimpse. As always with Dee Henderson books, True Valor has strong and well written inspirational undertones. A definite must read!
