Rating: Summary: Great Beach Book! Review: I just loved this book so much! It was everything I was expecting and more. It had non-stop suspense and an interesting story. Wonderful surprise ending!
Rating: Summary: Engrossing Review: "You Belong to Me" is an engrossing book with a good mystery and a very likable heroine. Mary Higgins Clark is an excellent author and all her books are very interesting. In this book, Dr. Susan Chandler unwittingly stirs up trouble and a few innocent people are murdered due to her actions. Two women who call her radio show are murdered after Dr. Chandler brings up the case of a missing woman. So, Dr. Chandler does a lot of investigating on her own. The more clues she digs up, the more people that are murdered... until Dr. Chandler herself is in BIG trouble. Of course, there are a few different suspects in this book and there are many clues that indicate each one of them is the murderer. So, happy reading and happy sleuthing!
Rating: Summary: Good Suspense! Review: This is the second book that I have read by Mary Higgins Clark. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it kept me guessing until the very end. Dr. Susan Chandler has a radio show where she interviews an author about his book called Vanishing Women. Little does she realize, but this interview sparks a chain of events that lead to several murders and puts her own life in danger. It was a good suspensful read. My only complaint about this book is that I disliked the strange motive behind the killer's actions. I didn't really get a clear sense of what was driving him to such horrific acts of murder, and the explanation just didn't seem to satisfy me enough to really believe it. Otherwise, I enjoyed the quick pacing of the story.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful !!! Review: I have no idea why people have been so negative about this book. It was so great! It was the most suspenseful book I have read in a long time. Mary did a great job building up the suspense. Plus the ending was so unpredictible. I would never have guessed who the killer was. I recommend this to all mystery/suspense lovers.
Rating: Summary: Not enough suspense! Review: Even though I've been reading mystery/suspense books for years, this was my first by the so called "queen of suspense". I didn't like this one as much as I thought I would. I found the whole story to be very unbelievable to start with, and it almost seemed like Dr. Chandler was putting her listener's in harms way! Also, this killer was "offing" everyone who was even remotely connected to him, without any fear of being caught. The reason I gave it three stars is because I was surprised by who the killer was, though his motive was a little strange. I never would have guessed the ending, but I still didn't care for this book. I will try Mary Higgins Clark again, I just hope some of her other novels are better than this one.
Rating: Summary: Guessing til the end... Review: This was a great book! Dr. Susan Chandler finds herself in the midst of a murder mystery when she invites an author to be interviewed on her daily radio show. Soon potential witnesses are being killed and the closer Susan comes to putting the final peices of the puzzle together, the more her life becomes endangered. I didn't know until the end the book who the real murderer was. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something would happen to point the finger at someone else. There are also intersting sub-plots involving Susan's family and their problems regarding the recent divorce of her parents and an old rivalry between Susan and her sister, Dee. I have read many of Mary Higgins Clark's books. You Belong To Me may not be her best work but it was definitely very good.
Rating: Summary: Just not Good enough Review: I love Mary Higgins Clark. I find her books to be quick and easy reads. There never seem to be a dull moment and stories move a long at a great pace. I would have to say that one of my favorite things about her books is the killers. However, with this book I was disappointed with thie killer. While I love the heroin and I thought all together that the book was still an excellent read, I felt that the killer was shallow and with out dept and I found his reasons for killing (although his method was scary)boring and unimaginative. If you are a diehard fan I would recommended this book however if this is your first time reading a Mary Higgins Clark book try All Around the Town or Moonlight Becomes You. Then come back to this one!
Rating: Summary: Obvious Lack of Ambition Review: Though Mary Higgins Clark threw out yet another interesting twist to an intriguing plot, You Belong To Me fell short on the "well-written" portion of the rubric. Clark again uses her usual soap-opera style to intertwine multiple numbers of characters, and thus causing the suspense she bargains for. As a supposedly new spice of killer, Clark's target area preys on lonely and emotionally distraught women on cruise ships. Influenced by her recent radio talk show theme of disappearing women, Dr. Susan Chandler, a New York psychologist, becomes involved in the who, what and why of the vanished, wealthy young woman Regina Clausen. Chandler sets out to uncover the mystery behind the whereabouts of Clausen and soon discovers there is more to the story. Little does Chandler know that with each edge she receives, the killer is one step ahead, disposing of any evidence that would assist her in discovering the alleged murderer. Just short of her own death does Chandler realize that the killer is not only after women on cruise ships, but is also slowly reeling her in. Unfortunately, Clark's novel, You Belong To Me, is quite the stereotypical murder mystery: There is a mysterious murderer, someone becomes involved to solve the crime, that person is in danger, the crime-stopper miraculously solves the case, the murderer is caught and all is well. Though Clark's intentions were good, based on deductive reasoning, the murderer may be easily depicted from the bunch. Long-time readers of mystery novels should shy away from You Belong To Me due to lack of ideas and subject-matter. On the flip side, anyone who is new to Mary Higgins Clark may enjoy the brevity and simplicity of the novel.
Rating: Summary: very engaging read! Review: It was difficult for me to put this book down! I really enjoyed reading it. You'll have a hard time guessing who the real serial killer is! Clark leads the reader down many different paths, and only reveals the true killer at the end! Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: You Belong To Me Review: Depite flaws, this book is a "can't put it down, on the edge of your seater." The flaws: There are only three suspects. Two are obvious red herrings. So guessing the guilty one is easy. Nevertheless, how this is revealed is still hair-raising. This book also requires the reader to suspend judgment and common sense in that a former assistant district attorney, now turned clinical psychologist, would never endanger people by prodding them to reveal information on the air which could possibly endanger themselves. This is done continuously, weakening the book's credibility. Yet if one is willing to go along for the ride in good fun this book is a skillful winner because of the unique and special talent of it's author.
