Summary: Great book, terrible cassette
Review: The book is of course a classic--I give the book by itself five stars. But this cassette is unbelievably bad, yet another example of his widow's mishandling of the Dr. Seuss estate. Ted Danson's turgid, pretentious reading is so over-the-top melodramatic that it's almost funny--I've been to cheerier funerals.

The good doctor wrote this book in part to deflate the dull preachiness so common to the environmental community, but the reading turns out to be a perfect example of what he was rebelling against. Yuck.

Summary: Fantastic lesson in a fun book!!
Review: I had never read this story, until my son got it for his 4th birthday. It is a wonderful story that teaches about how important every animal and thing is on our planet and that they all relate to each other. It certainly inspired my son to think about things and brought up some great questions. This is a MUST HAVE IN A CHILD'S LIBRARY!!

Summary: El Ambiente esta mas seguro con este libro.
Review: "El Lorax" is a Dr. Seuss book translated into Spanish that is a must for children. Any conservation project, discussion of the environment should include this fantastic story. I start second grade children with The "Biografia de Dr. Seuss" book to introduce how a person can make a difference and the "El Lorax" to introduce how any person can make a difference.

Summary: Wow.
Review: When I was younger, this was just a fun book with an ending I didn't like. As I got older, it became...well, a fun book with an ending I didn't like, but definitely UNDERSTOOD.

If you tell one of the uninitiated that Dr. Seuss wrote one of the most readable yet chilling cautionary tales of our environment, you will probably be greeted with laughter. But in this book, Seuss has created something so simple, yet so meaningful, that it cannot help but get it's point across.

The illustrations, I think, is what realy hits home for me. The scenes before the Oncler arrives are so radiantly hued and multicolored--only to turn drab under an eventually brown and darkened sky.

The last time I read this book, I just sat there when I had finished, looking at the last page. Pretentious eco-intellectualism on my part? Perhaps. But I don't think so.

Summary: Inspiring for a lifetime
Review: This story about being a steward for our world and environment is a job for parents and kids alike. My two year old has is memorized (as I do) but we never tire of reading it.

Summary: The Lorax
Review: My children love this book. By the time my son was two, I had read it to him so many times that he had memorized it! He, as well as my daughter, just love this story.
