Review: What a fabulous book! The Lorax is one of my favorite books. In the Lorax, Dr. Seuss uses compelling illustrations and rhyme to teach a valuable environmental lesson to children and adults. He writes about the importance of taking care of our Earth and its resources. Readers are transported to a beautiful world in which animals and plants are thriving. As the story unfolds, readers learn about the effects of greed and destruction a group of people can have on the environment. In the end, the readers are taught the lesson of what can happen to our Earth and its resources if we do not take care of them. What an exceptional book for children and adults to read! Thank you Dr. Seuss!!

Summary: Dr. Seuss's BEST book
Review: I'm 14, and don't typically read kid's books but I LOVE Dr. Seuss, and The Lorax is my favorite story of his. The illustrations are typical Dr. Seuss fare- wacky but beautiful- but the story has more to it than most of his books. The sad but hopeful story of a land destroyed by pollution gives kids a good understanding of environmental issues. Not only kids; I'm in high school and our science teachers read it to us sometimes. It's a very important book, one that I think everyone should read. If your kid misses out on "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", oh well, no big deal, but you MUST read them The Lorax. You owe it to them and to the world. Remember: UNLESS.

Summary: Inspiring for a lifetime
Review: When I was in elementary school in the mid-1970s, probably around the age of 7 or 8, all the students in the school were assembled and shown the film of the Lorax. The film was very similar to the film of The Grinch that was made at about the same time and is now a video classic - - wonderful animation and great word-for-word narrative reading of the text. I had been unaware of the book before that. I remember very clearly being very moved and inspired by the tale, and I can trace part of my development as an environmentalist to it. I now work in environmental outreach/education, and every once in a while I get out the book of The Lorax and get re-inspired, especially by the line "UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." I still find the book very relevant to today. It's not extremist in any way. Even its depiction of the Once-ler is not as an evil man, but someone very recognizable. He doesn't mean harm, but "Business is business, and business must grow." Sound familiar? He doesn't recognize the damage he's causing, or understand just how painful and permanent it will be, until too late. This book reminds all of us to not take our beautiful world for granted, but to take responsibility for it.

Summary: Book Review of The Lorax
Review: The Lorax by Dr. Seuss was an interesting and entertaining read. It is a great example Seuss's typical writing. It is obviously meant for children but is entertaining for all ages. It carries a somewhat of an environmentalist message and in that respect seems somewhat political but is still a very good story due to its well-developed plot and its skillfully done rhyme scheme. Many aspects of it are very humorous especially in the naming of characters and in the names of various places and things mentioned in the story. This element makes it a perfect book for young children as it keeps them interested in the story at hand.

Summary: An Important Book
Review: Seuss, a former editorial caroonist, turns in a most compelling message with this parable about corporate greed and environmental destruction. Many adults remember this book from their childhoods, and I strongly suggest that they reread it every now and again. Seuss begins with a very engaging premise to draw the reader in - an old mysterious person locked in a tower in a ruined wastelend that will tell you a story if you ask carefully. The story he tells is of himself in the past, when he came to a thriving environment and set up shop exploiting the resources of the area. This draws the Jeremiads of the Lorax, who points out the ill consequences at every turn. The narrator ignores them, not out of ill will towards the environment but out of ignorance and the belief that he can do whatever he likes anyhow. In the end, the place is utterly destroyed and all its creatures leave, including the Loraz who departs with an infinite sadness on his face. The story sounds like a dark one, but somehow Seuss's whimsical rhymes and drawings make it more palatable, though it speaks harsh truths. The ending is superb and offers hope - a small boy is given the last seed of the disappeared trees, and asked to do what he can to renew the land. May we all do the same to the best of our abilities!

Review: This story about being a steward for our world and environment is a job for parents and kids alike. My two year old has is memorized (as I do) but we never tire of reading it.

Review: My children love this book. By the time my son was two, I had read it to him so many times that he had memorized it! He, as well as my daughter, just love this story.

Summary: Not a good children's book
Review: I still remember when I was five or six and my dad would read Dr. Seuss books to me. He would want to read this one to me every night, while I would protest and ask to read another Seuss book that was more fun. This one, though it has clever rhymes and a valuable message like all the other Seuss books, it's just not a lot of fun. Let's face it- you're not going to "reach" a five or six year old child in a book as short as this about environmental issues. Now it would be alright for the book to teach those issues if it didn't drill it in, but sadly it does. This book is not funny like other Seuss books, it's downright depressing. It is quite well-written and clever, so while you may enjoy it, your children's attention will likely soon be lost, as mine was. It is important to remember when writing a children's book who the target readers are. Sadly Dr. Seuss forgot this time.

Summary: i know every single word by heart!
Review: this is one of my favorite books. its an awesome story, the pictures are really cool, and it tells a good lesson. i hadn't read it since i was really little (i'm 15) until i went on a backpacking trip this summer and one of the counselors had a copy of it with him, with the binding duct taped together and the pages all thick from being rained on and dried again and it was very dirty and it had obviously travelled very far. he finished memorizing it on the trip, learning the end after dark with a flashlight and told it to us from memory on the last night. when i got home i had to find my copy and i read it several times and eventually i memorized it too. now when i can't get to sleep at night i tell it in my head from the beginning to wherever i get when i fall asleep (haha yeah that's why i kept my name anonymous, i tell myself stories in my head). so if more than one person took the time to memorize the whole book than obviously its incredibly good and you'll like it.

Review: I absolutely loved this book! It is th perfect children's book. I love the way ot combines the rhymes and silly creatures that Seuss is famous for along with an educational message about the environment. This book makes for a quick and entertaining read for all ages, and I would reccomend it for anyone
