Summary: Beyond the Edge of the World
Review: The largest meteorite known to man has been found on a remote island off the coast of southern Chile after being buried for eons and billionaire collector Palmer Lloyd wants it for his museum. To achieve his goal he organizes a secret and sophisticated salvage team to get it.On the island, they uncover the meteorite is more than they bargained for, it's a deep red, twenty feet in diameter and it emits periodic bursts of electricity of up to a billion volts, killing anybody close to it. Team members are dying and when they try to take the meteorite back, they soon learn they aren't taking it anywhere, it's taking them. It had been waiting. Summary: These guys can't write a bad one....
Review: These are some of my favorite characters in any Preston/Child book. From the doctor who would rather read than practice medicine, to the engineering genius who refuses to fail, this ensemble keeps the pages turning when the plot does not. The reason I took off a star is that at certain points I wasn't into the what was going on. These moments were few and far between, but luckily when it drags you have these characters to keep you engaged. Every character transforms into something you would never expect them to be. This applies to the meteorite as well.

Summary: Ice Limit
Review: I enjoyed this title very much. As a librarian, I do a lot of Reader's Advisory and this team of authors is always one of my top suggestions. I was like many others who were not overly thrilled with the ending of The Ice Limit. If you read the paperback version, however, you are directed to the website .......... for "further information about the story". If you search for The Ice Limit, you are guided to a page that has "collected news stories" about the mysteries that happened shortly after the book ends. These stories offer a more satisfying "what happened next" but still leave some room for a bit of mystery and, possibly a sequel.

Summary: Picked up this book on a whim - glad I did
Review: This was the first book from these authors that I read. I was leaving on a long business trip and my wife pointed the book out to me while we were in a book store. I'm a picky reader and won't stay with a book unless it moves fast and is technically accurate. Anyway, I decided to give the book a try and was totally consumed after two pages. I couldn't put the book down and ended up reading the entire thing by the second day of my trip. I loved the technical details and the speed at which the story moves. Just when you think this story is over, they throw you a jaw dropper in the last sentence of the last page. Great stuff! I have since read all the co-authored books from Child and Preston. These two authors know how to write page turners. If you like very clever and technical stories - pick this one up.

Summary: The Ice Limit and Beyond
Review: This is not the fastest page-turner the authors have produced, but it is just as well crafted as their best. A multi-billionaire with too much money has been buying up the treasures of the world for a personal museum greater than any other in the world. His newest passion is a meteorite that defies description. It is larger by far than any known meteorite and by rights should not exist. Obtaining it will be an engineering feat of the grandest scale. The rock weighs as much as five Eiffel towers and would be the heaviest object ever moved by humanity. The rock lies on a small island in Cape Horn at the southernmost tip of South America. Freezing weather, unforseen circumstances, engineering on the grandest scale, international politics, and an obsessive destroyer captain all come together to make this a true thriller. Of course, it would not be Preston and Child if there were not some very curious details about the rock itself (you'll have too read it to find out as I won't spoil the surprise). It then all culminates in a satisfying ending with an unpredictable twist. Fans of science thrillers will definitely want to read this one.

Summary: LIKE WAITING IN A LONG LINE...
Review: Let's put it this way. This book is 491 pages long. NOTHING happens until page 364 !!! That is all you need to know. This book is like waiting in a long line. It is wretched, there isn't any "conflict" until the last quarter of the book (page 364). Even then it is tame compared to other classic action/adventure writers. Do not bother buying this book.

Summary: Not their best work, definetly not.
Review: I was very dissapointed with the book. It didn't hold attention very well like their others. It really seems like they took a dive writing this one. I would really like to know where all the "non-stop action" some people post up is. It is not a very good work, and only at the end is where it is the best, like most books, but not a usual Child/Preston book. It was ok, but I would not reccomend this over any of their other books.

Summary: Hardly Worth The Time
Review: I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this book. It was a lot of techinical information with a weak story to back it up, which is unusual for these masterminds. The characters were hard to get attached to and the story just drug to the point where you just want to take some Tylenol or skip ahead and hope there is a point coming soon. The book comes across as one long funeral and was not thrilling or gripping as a lot of their past books have been. The ending is upsetting and leaves you with the feeling of: "well that [was bad]". It had potential to be a great story, but somewhere behind trying to impress us with their knowledge of egineering the story was lost. I just can't say enough how dissapointed I was in this novel. All in all it was an annoying read leaving me going page after page hoping it would get better and sadly it didn't. I highly recommend Riptide and/or The Relic over this disappointing read.

Review: Ice Limit is an adventurous book that will keep you guessing. Once you start, you won't be able to put it down. Ice Limit is about a rich man who buys the most valuable items in the world. He sends an expedition to South America to excavate a meteorite. They have no information about the meteorite and a battleship is trying to capture them. The ending is a surprise that you would never expect. It will make you wish there was a sequel.

Summary: J's Ice Limit Review
Review: The Ice Limit is a very good book. Although it started off a little bit slow, it became very intense and had an awesome ending. In this book, there is a meteorite down in Antarctica. A very rich man named Palmer Lloyd hires a crew including the main character, Sam McFarlane, to retrieve the meteorite. The reason that it is such a big deal is because it is believed to be the largest meteorite ever to be discovered. Many interesting discoveries are made, and the subplots make it vey interesting.
