Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Predictiable Story Review: The Napping House is one of my favorite children's books to read. The story is fun and engaging. It is also short and to the point. The ilustrations are nice and they depict the action in the story. Audrey Wood does a wonderful job with this story. If you like this book try , Elbert and the Bad Word. It's wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Good for bedtime and memory Review: This book did not bowl me over the first time we read it, but the more you read it, the better it gets...and we now read it a lot! The Napping House has found its way on to the proverbial "short list" of bedtime books for our nearly three-year old daughter. The pages build on each other, repeating most of the prior pages and then adding a new layer (or animal, as the case may be) on each new page...until the flea bites the mouse and the layers start peeling off! As the characters pile up on the bed from page to page, this books is great for helping develop a young child's memory, and he or she will likely end up "reading" to you, grinning all the way.
Rating: Summary: The Napping House Review: This book is beautifully written and illustrated. It captures the attention and giggles of young children, as well as adults.
Rating: Summary: Sure to make you smile Review: This book is just so cute. The story is simple about everyone falling asleep one by one and then getting woke up one by one by "A wakeful flea on a slumbering mouse on a snoozing cat on a dozing dog on a dreaming child on a snoring granny on a cozy bed" The pictures are both cheerful and funny. You will have a smile on your face for sure when you are done reading this and so will the child you are reading it too.
Rating: Summary: Napping House makes me yawn Review: This book is O.K. When I was younger my teachers were always like: I love this book, this is such a good book, lets read this book. It must have been read to me 15 times. I never understood why it was liked so much, to me it was boring and pointless. Aparently it's just me so I'm not going to tell you not to buy it but I'm certainly not going to recommend it either.
Rating: Summary: So Much Fun to Read! Review: This book is so very sweet and engaging. The illustrations are so animated that you can throw the television out the window! I enjoyed this just as much as my little pumpkins did. This is a book they like to pull down from the shelf over and over again.
Rating: Summary: A Marvelous Story Review: This book is so wonderful because even though the story is simple, there are rhymes that build upon one another throughout the story, and the outcome of the story is lighthearted and humorous. The illustrations of this picture book are incredible and of high quality. The colors are so gentle and warm. The expressions and details of the characters and scenery are so inviting. The pictures, coupled with the rhythms of the text, are what make the story so charming. One can actually feel the mood of the story by the changes in the weather, the yawns of the characters, and the relaxed sleeping positions. As the ending unfolds and the excitement builds, the pictures are what actually "wake" up the reader with the use of bright colors and the surprising facial expressions of the characters. This is a must have book for all children to enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Can You Find The Flea? Review: This is a fabulous book, not only for its words, but of course for its pictures as well. I've read it to all of my nieces and nephews, ages two to ten, and they've all gotten something out of it. I especially like to get the children to follow the pictures and let me worry about the words, and this book makes it easy to do so. Talk to your kids about the pictures; there's so much to see! The little girl and the granny change positions while napping, the dog gets added, then the cat, then the mouse. And, see if they can find the flea! It's great fun, and by the time the sun comes bursting its way into the room after the story's rainstorm, you'll be a whole lot closer to your kids. It's a great book for snuggling up with in bed.
Rating: Summary: A great book for young children. Review: This is a wonderful book for early readers who need to master basic sight words. Repeated reading of this pattern book increases fluency. Children never seem to tire of the delicious pictures or the language. As a parent and educator, I say it is a must for every young child's library.
Rating: Summary: There was a house, a napping house... Review: This is my all-time favorite children's book. I read it so many times I have it memorized! The pictures are beautiful and the story is simple. My favorite part was always looking for the flea as it moved closer to the bed. This is a must-have for kids to read!
