Summary: Childhood Revisited
Review: My school's librarian read this book to my first grade class in 1986. I still remember it to this day. My husband and I are expecting our first child, and this book without a doubt is going on our registry. It's so cute. The illustrations still stick out in my mind many years later (I am twenty-four). A must-have for children!

Summary: Great Book - must have
Review: my son Sam loves this book. He is 1 and smiles and giggles when the room turns yellow with sunlight. It also has a soothing rythm for nighttime.

Summary: There is a House,a Napping House, where everyone is sleeping.
Review: Not Long ago, I was at a pizza party at my High School. A classmate recited the entire story-in-rhyme to me. She had read it in the school library. Then I went and told Mrs Weyers, one of the teachers in the student club, about the book. She said that she loved that book. When her kids (now into their twenties) were little and their granny would visit, Granny would say, "It's time to be quiet, because this is the napping house." Mrs Weyers will be glad to know that it is still in print, because she desperately wants to acquire some copies in preperation for grandchildren someday.--Robert Metz

Summary: Where no one now is sleeping
Review: One of the best children books I know and believe me, I know a lot. The pictures are wonderful and the text is easy to remember so your child will know it by heart and be able to "read" it to you. A sweet book and a highly recommended purchase.

Summary: Dasia's Favorite!
Review: She says, "This is one of my favorite books in the world. I love to read it at bedtime, lunchtime, and quiet time. I learned to recite it at age 4 and still love it. The pictures are so funny, they make me laugh... not a good idea at quiet time (hee hee hee)!"

Dasia is now learning to read the words, and she still laughs at the story.

Summary: Simple, soothing text, hilarious pictures!
Review: The book gets off to a slow, sleepy start, with granny, child, dog, cat, and mouse drowsily stumbling into bed. Don Wood's illustrations transform what might have been a dull beginning with hilarious details as the group try to squish themselves into a "cozy bed" (twin size). It is fun to try to find each member of the group in every picture--especially the flea.

Then the *wakeful* flea joins the pile-up...

The consequences are dramatic and hilarious, as the action rises to a crescendo. Although other people have described this as a bedtime book, to me it is more of a waking up book--a good way to ease through that crabby time right after a nap.

Summary: This is a must read for all ages!!!!!!!!!
Review: The book is about a family and the animals who live in a house. When it is time to go to bed the Grandma starts sleeping and then the kid and so on. My favorite part of the book is the pictures. They are funny and make you laugh as you read the book. I would recommened this book for all ages because it has a theme for all ages.

Summary: In middle age, this is still my favorite book
Review: The illustrations in The Napping House are masterful. My kids and I have enjoyed looking for the flea over and over. We have a large library of children's books, but this one is the "read it again" winner. I can still quote much of it and my kids are 11 and 18!!

Summary: Beautiful art and peaceful story make a great combo
Review: The Napping House covers a whole family falling asleep: granny, child, dog, cat, mouse... until the wakeful flea bites the mouse... and then everyone wakes up! Audrey and Don Woods have written a gentle bedtime story pre-schoolers will want to hear over and over. The text is easy to read and repetitive, perfect for young children. The gorgeous, expressive and detailed illustrations, provide enjoyment to children and to adults alike. It's fun to sit and just look at the pictures and point out the details that are there. My kids love that! This is a classic book and is a wonderful addition to anyone's library. I've used it sucessfully in children's literacy programs - kids never seem to get tired of reading it and looking at the pictures.
