Summary: It drives me nuts
Review: A librarian friend gave me this book as a shower gift. I thought it was charming. After my daughter was born, I started reading it to her and it QUICKLY became one of absolute favorites! She loves it and at 2 years old, now knows it by heart.

The repetition drives my husband and I nuts but she loves it so much. Sometimes, we don't even use the book. Daughter and I lay down and recite the book to each other. A very special time for us.

Summary: great bedtime fare
Review: Ah, is there anything more relaxing than a cozy nap in a warm house on a rainy day? Every inhabitant of the The Napping House manages to pile on to granny's bed for a few sociable ZZZZZs, until that damnable wakeful flea appears! If you remember cumulative stories such as "the old woman who swallowed the fly (I don't know why she swallowed that fly)", then you'll know what to expect from this charming and funny book. The illustrations are tremendous, and will keep the book fresh even after many readings. This is a book that an adult reader will enjoy, too. The board book is sturdy and easy to clean.

Summary: Great!
Review: Another beautifully illustrated book that makes you feel like you are part of the story! I read this over and over to my son while he was potty training- it kept him interested even at two years and he sat very still while learning to potty! We have now memorized it!

Summary: Book most enjoyed and repeatedly read by my kids (and me)
Review: Both of my daughters (now aged 18 and 11) have thouroughly enjoyed the intriguing illustrations and clever verse of The Napping House. I think it is the single most read book in our house. We all had a good time searching for the flea on each page. It's easy to learn and have the children repeat with you as you read. The pictures are compelling. The complete package keeps children and adults alike coming back for repeat readings.

Summary: my girls love this book
Review: Funny and cute story for this age group. My girls ages 4 and 2 laugh about all the mishaps in the story and always want me to read it to them.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a must-have for all who share a bed with humans and pets!
Review: Funny little story about everyone taking a nap at the same time, in Grandmother's house. Before the nap is through, Grandma, grandchild, dog, cat, mouse and flea are all napping together. The illustrations change on every page to have the nappers sleeping every which way and crammed in and piled on top of each other. One by one they join the bed, then one by one they leave the bed, then the bed breaks and crashes to the floor. Very funny faces on the characters. Cute, short, repetitive text. I recommend that it be read before naps. Anyone who has napped with children and pets in the bed will especially think this is funny.

Summary: Repetitive text & wonderful illustrations; a must-have book
Review: I am a 1st grade teacher, and this has to be my favorite of all the childrens' books I read to my class, followed closely by other Audrey and Don Wood books. If we're having a bad day, I can read this book softly to the kids to quiet them down. The repetitive text and wonderful illustrations are very soothing. The children like to chime in with the repeated lines. There are many wonderful follow-up activities to reading this book which the children always love. This week we all made ourselves out of felt so that we could do a flannel board story, The Napping Room, which I wrote as a take-off from The Napping House. I would recommend this book to parents as a great book to help their children learn words, tracking, and sequencing.

Summary: A nice book for young children, stupid for older children.
Review: I am ten and I read this book. The pictures are pretty good, but the wording was stupid. It said the same thing over and over but just added one thing on every page. This book is just for kids who are learning how to read.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely Excellent!
Review: I have never received such an enthusiastic response to a book from a group of children. My class loves this book. They have dubbed it "The Snoring Granny" book. They can recite all the words (amid much giggling.) I am also very impressed with Don Wood's illustrations. He uses bright colors, realistic drawings and humor. He has included all the characters from the whole story on every page. The children love to hunt and identify each one. It is a favorite in this preschool class!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great book for any children's book collection...
Review: I love the uniqueness of each of the Wood's books. The Napping House is one of our favorites because of the fun, repetitive storyline (easy to memorize and boost self-esteem in a youngster) and the charming illustrations.
