Rating: Summary: A man who thinks like a woman!!! Review: In this novel he truly out did hisself. Writing a novel from a female perspective can be very difficult for a man, but he did it. The story is very exciting, I couldn't put the book down. Of course EJD holds nothing back and brings it to you real, no sugar coating. I also like the way he mentions characters from other books he written. Very beautiful writing.
Rating: Summary: EJD's at the Top of His Game Review: EJD shows why he's held in such high regards by millions with this story. Before The Other Woman, Cheaters was my all-time favorite EJD novel. I repeat..."was". Eric does an excellent job of drawing you into these characters. Your emotions will run high while reading this one. I finished it in one day and can tell you that it was well worth the read. THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GIVE SOMETHING AWAY? Nope.
Rating: Summary: For the mature audience Review: I am a fan of Dickey, and so I was not surprised that I really liked this novel. Unlike some of the other books, the characters in this novel were older, more mature, and professional. Let's face it, we can expect a little bit of [untruths], lies and infidelity among single men and women who are not committed, but Dickey exposed the married couples' weaknesses. I thought that it was very realistic and didactic. The characters paid for thier deamons, and the author offered possible reasons why some marraiges fail...lack of communication, and the desire to place professional lives before our own.maturely written
Rating: Summary: Realy Great Book Review: This is a Great Book. I had never heard of EJD until this book, and I will definitely be looking into more of his books. This was a great story. Great Read for anyone!!!!
Rating: Summary: Another EJD Winner! Review: I have read and enjoyed all of EJD's books. This is not my favorite but certainly it is the most provocative. I read it in one day... I just couldn't put it down. EJD is masterful at developing his characters with a faithful portrayl of reality. They stay in your memory long after you have finished reading the last page.I think to have the female protagonist remain nameless is a very clever detail. I felt her intense pain over her husband's betrayal and think she reacted in a very real and apprehensible way. I found myself cheering for her! I rarely like the way EJD's books end and this one was no exception; however the ending was completely unexpected and unpredictable. This is a must read!
Rating: Summary: Loved it!! Review: The Other Woman had me captivated from the first line. I couldn't put it down. When I was finished, I wanted more. Very good book. I am now a huge fan of Eric Jerome Dickey.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: I was curious about the subject matter having recently been thorugh a similiar life situation. The story is compelling, and the characters well fleshed out. The main characater is a black female, but the book is written by a male. I had to keep checking the back photo, I kept expect to see the photo change to the female protagnonist in my mind ! The end was a slight let down, I would have preferred a slightly different ending, but I was amazed at how exciting the plot was. I literally could not put the book down until I finished it. I plan on reading other books by the author, I enjoyed it immensely !
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: When I first picked up this book, I was expecting the typical story of a man who cheats and the drama that comes with it. But much to my surprise, this book was the total opposite of that. The way the narrator handled herself was totally that of a real woman. She didn't go after the other female, she went straight to the source, HER HUSBAND. Yes, she had her moments of weakness, but who wouldn't in this situation. At least she understood what emotions were running through her and she understood the decisions she was making. I must admit that the end caught me by total surprise. My mouth was hanging wide open, I couldn't believe what had just happened. I had to pick it up a week later and re-read it to make sure I read it right the first time. I would just like to add a note to this review. I have two male friends who were killed this year because of their cheating ways. And it wasn't the girlfriend who did it, in both cases it was THE OTHER WOMAN. Although in this book David (Jessica's husband) committed the crime, the point still remains the same. People have the right to be entitled to their emotions, and playing with them can be a deadly game. People, please be careful of who you do and how you do it.
Rating: Summary: Sensual, Scandalous... I loved it! Review: So far I've read 3 books by Dickey: Between Lovers (pretty good), Friends and Lovers (okay, but Dickey can do better), and now The Other Woman. The Other Woman was the best of the three and I now have his entire collection of books in my possession and can't wait to read them all. The Other Woman is such a sensual, emotional, and painful story. When I closed the book after reading the final page (which only took me 2 days) I sighed and said "wow" out loud. I liked all of the characters and I could understand every point of view in the book. While my life isn't filled with as much drama as the characters portrayed in this novel, I still feel that it is very realistic and think many lessons can be learned from it. I enjoy Dickey's writing because he takes the reader so deep into the life of a limited number of characters and portrays their complexities in such a realistic way that you can't help but to fly through his books in record time. He definitely speaks to the dilemmas faced by contemporary professional African Americans in their late 20s early 30s. As an aside, I am also from Delaware and one of the characters in the book is from Dover, Delaware so I really enjoyed the fact that an author finally acknowledged Delaware and portrayed the state very realistically. Dickey gets 5 stars if for no other reason than because he gave a "shout out" to Delawareans.
Rating: Summary: The Other Woman Review: To sum it up in a word - AWESOME! This was the most intriguing book that I have read in a very long time. It grips you in the beginning and don't let you go. It's one of those books that you make yourself put down - although you want to keep reading. You just don't want it to end. Great job -EJD.
