Rating: Summary: Devastating Phone Call Review: Back with his eighth novel in as many years, Eric Jerome Dickey pens a raw, intense and sensual story titled The Other Woman. Told in the voice of an unnamed female narrator, he examines the cause and effects of infidelity. "Freckles" is a TV news producer who has to work all the time, every weekend, every holiday and is usually called in to work on her day off. Charles her husband, a middle school teacher, is home when she is at work and sleep when she is home. The differences in the work schedules has its quirks, neither is happy about it, but they just deal with it and work around their schedules to get quality time. For "Freckles" everything seems to be going well in her world, until she receives an unexpected phone call. This call sends her world spiraling out of control and the lives of four people are adversely effected. What is the best thing for her to do? Seek revenge! What is the best way to do it? Hurt him as much as he hurt her. Do you leave? Do you stay? Do you give up everything? These are questions for all parties to ponder. Their actions can have dire consequences with a domino effect. Herein lies the thrill, excitement, and the unexpected twists and turns of this novel. Dickey has the ability to astonish his readers by always offering something new, edgy and unexpected. His ability to narrate this story from a woman's point of view is phenomenal. The dialogue and prose used helps the reader experience the gut wrenching pain and anguish of the characters. Surprising twists in the plot will have readers gasping aloud. While not a quick read, you will not want to miss a word of this page turner. Jeanette APOOO BookClub
Rating: Summary: Dickey's Best Book Ever! Review: I literally could not put the book down. The Other Woman is a book that every woman should read. Reality actually sets in after picking up a book like this. The writer really did his homework. I was amazed that I could just keeping reading after I read the last page. Every woman think they actually know their husband but after reading this, you will certainly ask questions. I could actually see movie rights to this book. It was excellent. Dickey's other books were also good. This book is awesome. David Lawrence's character was outstanding. All of Dickey's fan, please read this book. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: EJD's BEST!!! Review: I was completely FLOORED by this book. I am a fan of EJD, have read all of his work, and I think that this is quite possibly the best book that he has ever written. I knew that the book focused on infidelity; obvious from the title. But I was completely unprepared for how events unfolded. I was expecting fights, unhappiness, SOME level of drama prior to the infidelity; but there was none. What I was faced with was a seemingly happily married couple who seemed to be totally in sync--sexually, spiritually, financially. Until our narrator--who remains unnamed throughout--is contacted by the husband of the Other Woman. His name is David Lawrence--and he informs our narrator that her husband is sleeping with his wife. What follows is a tale of revenge, betrayal and tragedy that the reader probably doesn't expect. What makes this tale so unique is that since the reader is seeing everything through the eyes of our narrator, all we see is a great relationship--until the Phone Call. And then we see a relationship unravel; and we find ourselves also the unwitting partner in a marriage who sees everything as being wonderful when it most certainly is not. We are truly the partner who "thought everything was fine," while the miserable other half seeks solace in another. This book actually made me cry, and took me completely by surprise. It is quite possibly Mr. Dickey at the top of his game.

Rating: Summary: The most intense 8 hour read! Review: I bought this book when it first came out, with high hopes of finding time to myself amidst the crazy rat race of family, job, etc. to read it. Luckily, I had to go on a cross-country business trip that lasted 36 hours, so I packed it along for the 4 1/2 hour journey each way. Once I started, I was completed taken in by the storyline, the realness of the characters, and the honesty of the narrator. By the time my plane touched down on my return home the next night, I was reading the last few pages, and could not wait to get home to my husband. Friends and Lovers was my favorite EJD read, now this is. Bravo for raising the game again!
