Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I have enjoyed Woodiwiss' previous novels. This one, however, was so badly written that I had the impression that it was written long ago, discarded, then resurrected without any editing. The prose was difficult to slug through ... kinda like chewing rocks. Did not finish the book because I got bored with the characters and did not care what happened to them.
Rating: Summary: Out of sequence Review: I am an avid Woodiwiss fan and have read and re-read her books. I especially enjoy following all the different escapades of each of the family members but was a bit disappointed with this one as I read the books in the order it stated only to find that "The Elusive Flame" should actually have been the last one as in this Jeff and Raelynn already had grown up children which made this one look extremely odd. I have read books out of sequence before but this has usually been my own fault. Apart from this I found the book enjoyable but not as riveting as some of her other books.
Rating: Summary: Dull & Monotonous Review: Okay, I am a Woodiwiss fan just like the next reader. However with this book, I think the villain is a "unbelievable" and an "ineffective" character. Its too bad this story is not a hot one that you can really sink your teeth into because Woodiwiss is a wonderful writer and I think her fans expect her novels to be a good read. Which comes to mind that I started reading this book way back in January of '02 and I still have not finished it because of its lack of depth. Meanwhile during this time, I've read close to 60 other books from cover to cover and this one is by far the dullest one I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: Okay when i read all the customer reviws to this book i odviously thought it wouldn't be good at all since most people said it was very badly written. But still....I am a true fan of KEW's books and i just had to read it for myself. I thought that The Elusive Flame was greatly written just like the rest of her books and when i read A SeasOn beyond A Kiss I felt the same way. This book just like all of KEW's books has captured my heart. I mean...i couldn't piut the book down. And i didn't think that anyone could ever match up to Brandon Brimingham but his brother was just as captivating. I loved this book and I would recommend this book to read just like all the rest of KEW's books.
Rating: Summary: Woodiwiss- shame, shame, shame Review: Shame, shame, shame on Katheleen Woodiwiss. If you have nothing good to write, then it is better not to write anything at all. I have read many of Woodiwiss' previous books and found them to be intriguing, interesting and well-versed. This book, however, was a true disappointment and did not bear any similarity to the style or intellect of the other books. I had to look at the cover flap a number of times since I couldn't believe that I was reading a Woodiwiss romance novel.
Rating: Summary: A TEAR-JERKING, INSPIRATIONAL, AND ROMANTIC EXPERIENCE Review: WHEN I FIRST PICKED UP THE BOOK I WAS SKEPTICAL BECAUSE I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE AUTHOR NOR DID I LIKE TO READ ROMANCE NOVELS. WHEN I STARTED READING THE BOOK I WAS SO CAPITIVATED BY THE AUTHOR'S CHOICE OF WORDS AND IMAGERY. I FELT LIKE I WAS ACTUALLY THERE EXPERIENCING EVERYTHING WITH JEFF AND RAELYNN!! AFTER READING 1 OR 2 CHAPTERS I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. IF I HAD TO I JUST COULDN'T WAIT TO PICK IT BACK UP TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED.THE BOOK WAS SOO WONDERFULLY ROMANTIC. IT GOES TO PROVE THE POWER OF LOVE. THE ENDING WAS TOO MUCH!!!! I HAD TEARS IN MY EYES. I JUST COULDN'T HELP IT. THE ONLY BAD THING ABOUT THE BOOK---THERE IS NO SEQUEL. COME ON KATHLEEN TELL US MORE ABOUT THE COUPLE. I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THERE BABY!!!! AFTER READING THIS BOOK I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO PURCHASE MORE OF WOODIWISS' BOOKS.
Rating: Summary: My favorite author does it again. Review: Well I must say that I have loved every book this woman has written. It all started twenty years ago when I read "The Flame and The Flower" I was hooked. This is Jeff's story and there are only two things that bothered me about this book. One was that "The Elusive Flame" which is Brandon's son's story came out before this and in it we found out that Jeff had married Raelynn and that they were deeply in love so we knew that everything had worked out well before this book made it's apprearance. The second was that this book seemed to start in the middle. The are already married and its a bit confusing finding out the whys and the hows. I did like the secondary characters in this book very much. I will still recommend this book to anyone but I think I'll tell them to read it before reading Beau's story.
Rating: Summary: Bad Bad Bad Review: After reading through a few pages, I couldn't go on. Trust me, it's very very bad. Flowery writing, pages of charcthers telling eachother how beautiful they are. Stupid plot set-up with long drawn out descriptions of a previous event. No great love scenes. Yuck
Rating: Summary: Boring Review: I ordered this book before the release date banking on Kathleen Woodwiss's name.Having been a fan since The Flame and The Flower, I felt it would guarantee a good read, evidently she did too. I'm sure this book made best seller lists, and she made money, and I'm just as sure that I'm not the only disappointed fan. This is the second time I've attempted to get through this boring read. 200 pages into it and I'm still waiting for it to get interesting.
Rating: Summary: A Season Beyond a Kiss Review: I loved this story although not as much as I loved The Flame and the Flower. I eagerly wait for another story from Kathleen E. Woodiwiss! I read some reviews saying that they wish she would write more about the Birminghams and I agree whole heartedly! I did wish she would have mentioned Brandon and Heather more in this story, but loved it just the same! I don't understand other reviews saying how bad a story this was, one in particular who said they didn't even care for Her Flame and the Flower, all I have to say to that person is write a story yourself! I would also say to Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Bravo! You are a genius!
