Summary: Whirligig
Review: This book is a good example of how one mistake can change your life.It really makes the reader want to think more about their decisions in the future. In this book Brent, after being humiliated at a party, gets drunk and while trying to commit suicide, kills another teen instead of himself. The book is about his travel around the u.s. while he makes whirligigs to honor the girl he killed and his re-entry into society after he makes all the whirligigs.Fleischman does a really good job of showing Brent, the main character's feelings but near the end he doesn't put as much effort into his writing as if he is just trying to finish the book which makes it boring.A few of parts aren't very interesting but over all it was a good book.It has a good influence on teenagers, kids, and even adults about drinking and driving.

Summary: Jedi Girl loved this book
Review: Brent has always move around a lot, and now he is the new kid at a very high class private school. When he goes to a junior class party he expects it to go well, and boy was he wrong. There he receives the most humiliating thing ever, and because of this he starts to drink. On the way home he decides he wants to kill himself, but instead of killing himself he ends up killing an 18 year old girl. The only thing that the girl's mother asks from him is to go to the four corners of the US and make a Whirligig that looks like the girl. So he does that and other people react to the whirligigs in different ways. This is one of the most heart warming books that I have ever read. This book really tells the suffering of Brent , but it also shows his pride when he has made a whirligig and displayed it. I felt like I was there, grew along with Brent on his travels around to country. Even though every other chapter is told by someone else's point of view this book is very easy to under stand. I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure that you will too.

Summary: A Bit Depressing
Review: Brent Bishop is like most teenagers. He struggles daily trying to be "popular." He gets his chance to prove himself when he is allowed to go to "cool guy Chaz's" party. Unfortunately, his chance for popularity is ruined that night since he is humiliated in front of everyone by the girl he has a crush on. He leaves the party and his life changes forever. In the process of trying to kill himself, he kills an innocent 18-year-old girl. As punishment he is told to build whirligigs in her honor and place them in the four corners of the country so that her spirit can live on. In this process he learns that there is more to life than he ever imagined. I liked the book okay although it was somewhat depressing throughout until you reach the ending. It made me think about how trivial some things in life are. It also made me think about how the things you do effect many other peoples lives. I recommend this for people who want to read it by their interest in what I wrote above.

Summary: Completely original story of redemption
Review: Paul Fleischman continues to show his varied talents as a writer in this story of a young man who is given a second chance at life. In an unusual but believelable twist, the protagonist is sentenced to travel the countryside, making and placing whirligigs in memory of the young woman whose life he took in a botched suicide attempt.

The story takes interesting and unexpected turns as it follows him on his journey of the rediscovery of life. A very thought-provoking, reflective read for teens through adults.

Summary: Incredible!
Review: This book was so touching. I loved how each of his whirligigs helped someone in their life. This book was so cool

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Tremendous - Like all the rest of his books!
Review: Fleischman knows how to get at the core of human nature and get his readers to really know his characters - even though you may not always like them. I am continually surprised as his ability to delve so deeply into a situation in such short narratives. If you like this book I would highly recommend Seedfolks, another of his that show interconnections between people.

Summary: Eye-Catching Whirli
Review: Brent just moved to a new town and he goes to a party. The girl he likes, Brianna, will be there. He picks his friend up and they go to the party. He sees Brianna and walks over to her and tries to start a conversation. Brianna gets mad and yells at him for hanging all over her. He gets embarrased and mad then drives home. On his way home, his conscience tells him to take his hands off of the wheel of the car. He does! When he awakes, he finds out that he killed another girl named Lea. He visits her parents and asks if there is anything he can do. Lea's mom tells him the only thing he can do is make four whirligigs that look like Lea and place them in the four corners of the United States. He agrees. Brent also has to take pictures of the whirligigs. This book was kind of different but i enjoyed it and I'm sure you would too. I might even read it again soon. If I were to rate it, I would give it a 10 on a scale of 1-10. This book is probably the best book I have actually read.
