Summary: To Whirligig or Not to Whirligig
Review: To me this book was just a tad bit confusing. After i was finished i finally understood the format. I like the concept of it all, but it was just outright confusing to me.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Glad that I read it
Review: I had to read this book for school. I am very glad that I had to read it though. The book had a very good ending. This book is very uplifting in the end despite it being very sad through out the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful novel
Review: "Whirligig" is the story of a teen, who, in a suiside attempt, kills a teen-aged girl. Her mother wants a whirligig placed in the four corners of the US in memory of her daughter. Through placing these whirligigs, Fleischman's wonderfully believable protaganist comes to terms with what he did, and learns to forgive himself.

Summary: Great read for adults, too!!!
Review: I read "Whirligig" in one easy sitting after my Aunt Pat, a 6th grade teacher, recommended it. Paul Fleischman's writing style is meaty, considering his intended young audience. The subject matter is interesting as well.......a good starting point for discussion in a middle or high school language arts setting. Instead of the traditional punishment a juvenile would face, the main character, a high school boy, is faced with a relatively odd task: Travel to the 4 corners of the US and erect whirligigs in honor of a young woman who was killed in a drunk driving accident. His growth process is fabulous dialog on the part of Paul Fleischman. The intermingling of chapters on how the whirligigs affect other people's lives brings the story full-circle, especially when our main character knows he will leave his legacy on a group of curious children he encounters. I have recommended this book to all of my friends, ages 12 to 70!

Summary: whirligig review
Review: The book Whirligig has a very unique story line because of its strange consequeces and unique plot twists. The book was a little confusing and the story line was hard to follow because the chapters skipped around. However at the end all of the individual plot lines came together to prove a good point... for each action there is an opposite and equal reaction.

Summary: Why Whirligig is a great book
Review: Whirligig is a must-read for all ages. This book beautifully illustrates the way the world today works: Just like a whirligig! Every piece of the world, just like every piece of a whirligig, is nessescary for the whole world to properly function. This book uses real-life situations and characters we can all relate to. Brent's on-going adventure is very similar to the adventure of life we all go through. Whirligig is simply a masterpiece.

Summary: Would that i could give it more stars!!

Summary: An enjoyable book!
Review: Brent made a fatal mistake and killed another person in a car accident while driving home from a party. Instead of jail, the victim's mother told Brent to make four whirligigs (wooden structures that spin in the wind) at the four corners of the U.S.A. (California, Washington, Maine, and Florida), looking like the victim. I liked this book because it has an exciting plot, and an interesting problem. I did not like the fact that the settings and characters switched off a great deal, like one chapter will be about Brent putting up a whirligig, and the next will be about the affects of a whirligig he will put up in a chapter to follow. This was a bit confusing, but everything fell into place eventually. I recommend this book for ages 11-15.

Summary: Out on a journey, to find himself.
Review: Whirligig is a book about a boy who goes to a party and is rejected by the girl of his dreams. While going home he wishes he were dead and decides to kill himself in a car crash. Instead, he kills an innocent girl in another car and is asked by her mother to put a whirligig on the four corners of the United States. He goes to every corner and finds another adventure in each state causing him to love the world around him more than before. There are a couple chapters about people who have seen these whirligigs and are inspired by them. Whirligig is a touching book, but it is not recommended for children ten and under. Whirligig will make you smile and cry with happiness and sadness. It is a great book.
