Summary: A Harsh Reality of Decision-Making
Review: "We can never know all the consequences of our acts." What a statement! These consequences can be good or bad--it all depends on the direction we choose throughout our lives. Through a tragic accident, Brent Bishop, found these consequences to be an unwanted invitation to the realities of life. Although Whiligig has a heavy lesson for us all, you will find it to be an enjoyable read. It is fast paced and allows you to look at the effects of one decision and how it changes the lives of many different people.

Brent Bishop's family has moved to Chicago because of his father's new job. With his father's increase in salary, Brent is able to go to a private school for the first time. But his new high school does not welcome Brent like he had hoped for. He found himself playing the all-to-familiar game of tyring to fit in with the popular crowd. One night at a party, Brent finds that fitting in with the popular crowd leaves him with the feeling of being rejected. Brent's feelings of rejection take him on a journey which meets a tragic fate.

It's through this tragedy that Brent is forced to find meaning in life. Brent finds forgiveness and a new hope for the future by traveling to the four corners of the country experimenting with his new skills in carpentry.

Sometimes some of the most important lessons are learned through the expense of a tragedy. Paul Fleischman gives us a chance to reflect on how our decisions in life can change us in a split second. But even when we make bad decisions, there is always a lesson to be learned and our lives can more forward. Fleischman also shows us the harsh reality that our decisions not only effect us as an individual but the decision effects the people around us.

This book is great for junior high students who are looking forward to going to high school. It is also good for high school students who are beginning to make life-changing decisions. Plus, there is a lesson on forgiveness for adults. A book is always good when it can target such a varied audience.

Summary: AWSOME BOOK!
Review: This was an awsome book. Considering I am about to enter the age where I begin driving, this book gives an excellent reality. In other words this book tells of the dangers, emotions, and facts about just how dangerous driving carelessly or impaired can be. I would reccomend this book to anyone who is interested. The book is not extremely long in length, and is not hard to follow.

Summary: Ok book
Review: I gave this book 3 stars. One thing I didn't like about this book was that a street cleaner ran over a girl. What I lik adout this book was that the girl's mom didn't make the guy go to jail, she made him make the guy make 4 whirligigs and put them in the 4 coners of the United states and those states are Washington, Californi, Florida, and Maine. On the whirligigs he had to make them look like the girl Lea.

Summary: "Whirligig"
Review: About "Whirligig"

Whirligig, a book written by Paul Fleischman is a very good book. It is a realistic fiction book about a boy named Brent Bishop who is new in town. He had just moved into the area and had been invited by his friend to a party. Well, it actually turned out that Brent's friend had asked if he could give him a ride and had just plain invited Brent to the party without asking the host. Once Brent and his friend were at the party, Brent saw a girl that he admired. Her name was Breanna. He had liked her ever since he moved into the area. He tried and tried to get her attention but she just kept on ignoring him.
Finally, after many attempts of trying to get her attention, Breanna blew up in Brent's face. She yelled rude remarks at him, turning everyone's head. Brent was humiliated. He furiously sprinted to his car, leaving his friend with no ride, and screeched off. Earlier, during the okay part of the party, Brent had had a "few" drinks. In other words, he was as drunk as a horse. After taking the wrong exit, getting hopelessly lost, and screaming at the windshield of his car, Brent thought to himself. He thought, "why should I even go back to anything?" Then, Brent lifted his hands off of the wheel, passed out and crashed. It turned out that Brent had hit a girl and killed her. Her name was Lea. In honor of Lea and her parents, also in apology, Brent agreed to go to every corner of the United States and make a whirligig that symbolized Lea's spirit.

As I joined Brent in his adventures around the country, I realized how good a book this was. The story was interesting and didn't bore me like some others have. And it also made me want to read the book. Although, the story did have some weak spots in it. The vocabulary was huge. Some of the words were very confusing and made me have to look them up in order to understand what the story was talking about. If you either already have an enormous vocabulary or you like looking up words in the dictionary, you will absolutely adore this story. But if you don't like looking up vocabulary words, you're out of luck. I loved the writing style of "Whirligig" and how it just flowed like a river when I read it. That is when I didn't have to look up a word in the dictionary. I would recommend this book to the older range of people and would give it a rating of a four out of five.

Summary: The Unusual Whirligig
Review: I read a book called Wirligig by Paul Fleischman. I think it is a great book. I like the way that the wirligig is made. It is a creative book because of the whirligig. You will barely ever see anybody else use a whirligig in their stories. The book is about a boy named Brent Bishop. He has just moved to that town. When he started at that school he saw a girl named Brianna and he wanted to go out with her because she was popular and he thought she was cute. He went to a party that she was going to and he saw her and he was hounding her. There was alot of their schoolmates at that party and when she said out loud for him to stop hounding her he still wanted to go out with her but he knew that she didn't want to go out with him. He was humiliated so he left the party and he tried to kill himself by running into a tree with a car but instead he ran into another car and killed somebody else. The car belonged to a girl named Lea and she was the teenager who died. Brent had to meet Lea's parents and he didn't have to go to jail but he had to do something for Lea's mom. Lea's mom told him to create a picture of Lea and make four whirligigs and put them on the four corners of the United States. Her mother asigned him that task because she thought the joy that they brought Lea when she was a little girl would spread by putting wirligigs on the four corners of the United States. Her mother figured that it would keep Lea's spirit alive. So Brent went around the world, on the Greyhound bus and put the whirligigs around the world. When the people around the world saw the whirligigs they came together and they do supprising things to each other. I would recommend this book to a kid who loves creative things and maybe likes art. The book was great and I hope that Paul Fleischman or somebody else would make a book like Whirligig.

Summary: Whirligig
Review: Whirligig

Whirligig is a book about a teenage boy, Brent, who was humiliated by a girl he liked. Her name was Brianna. After that he drove off furiously trying to kill himself, but instead he accidentally killed a girl named Lea. All Lea's mother had to ask of Brent was that he go to four corners of the United States and make four whirligigs with Lea's face. He'd put one whirligig at each corner of the country.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it was an adventure across the country. I liked how Paul Fleischman switched from Brent to another person that lived in Maine, Florida, Washington, or California and that Brent made a couple of friends on his journey.
I would recommend this to adventurous people because he goes on a twisting adventure

Summary: Whirligig
Review: Whirligig is an awesome book created by Paul Fleischman. Brent Bishop is new to town and he attends a private school. His friend, Jonathan got invited to a party and he told Brent he could come along. Brent kept following this girl he liked and she finally put a stop to it. Brent stormed out of the party while being drunk! He decided to commit suicide, but in attempt of doing that he killed another person, a girl named Lea. The only request of Lea's mother was for Brent to go to the four corners of the United States (Washington, Maine, Florida, and California) and build a whirligig in each state. That would help keep Lea's spirit alive. If you decide to read this book, you will read how the whirligigs affected other people in either hatred, or amazement. This book is a great book because it teaches people to keep the spirit of a deceased loved one around. The book also helps you understand the mind of a person who has killed another, but by mistake (not because they wanted the person dead). This book has a little twist to it. Just when you think the lies have stopped they start again. I would recommend this book to anyone who is adventurous and out going.

Summary: Whirligig
Review: The book Whirligig is a book I didn't like. One of the reasons I didn't like is that the book wasn't very interesting. two other reasons are that the book was confusing and had too many big words.
In the book a boy named Brent goes to a party to try to get closer to a girl he likes. As he's at the party he gets drunk. When he tries to hit on the girl he likes she blows him off. Brent then gets mad tries to hit the host of the party and leaves. On the way home he thinks about his life and decides that he's going to crash and commit suicide, but he is unsuccessful and kills a girl named Lea in the process. Lea's mother's only request is that Brent goes to the four corners of the country and put whirligigs there.
I would recommend this book to people who can follow a book closely and that can read big words.

Summary: Whirligig
Review: Whirligig is the kind of book that takes you into the story. It is a book about a teenaged boy named Brent. While at a party he askes the most popular girl out only to be humiliated by her. Alone and desperate he tries killing himself killng another instead, the victum a teen like himself. The mother of the teen askes Brent only to do one thing, to make four whirligigs in the coners of the U.S.. He does so learning new and exiting things about himself and his surrundings.
My opinion about this book is All but positive. It showes you the prespective of a teen and what emotions they go through. It is well writen and described. this book represents teens far and wide I'm shure they would agree.
I recommend this book to everyone who likes books with adventure, drama, and a good prespective of teenagers. The reason I say this is because Brent traveles around the U.S. and thier is much drama durring the beging of the book.

Summary: SUCH, SUCH, SUCH A GOOD BOOK!!!
Review: This book has more depth then just about any that I have read. It has excellent scenes from the middle of country (Chicago) to all four corners (San Diego, Seattle, Maine, Tamps Bay) of the country. Fleischman is masterful with just 130 pages.

The plot is kinda odd. The main character, Brent, has just moved to Chicago from Atlanta. He assumes that being seen with this one girl would really help his reputation, instead, he gets dumped by her in front of a whole party. As he drives home, he decides to kill himself by ramming into another car.He escapes with scratches, & kills the 18-year-old girl in the other car. Her mom ask him to do something (that would allow people to remember her daughter) that involves the four corners of the country, obviously. Its amazing what a little thinking & alone time can do to one (Brent, in this case). Its such a vivid story, you might as well be on the Greyhound bus. If you are a fan of fiction in any way, shape or form, this book can NOT go past unread. Its even short for those of you who don't really like reading.
