Summary: a cute summer read
Review: I have just finished All American Girl and I really enjoyed it. When I first went to get this book, I was a little iffy because it seemed like another predictable pre teen book with a moral. However, for some reason I decided to try it out and discovered it was really a captivating and touching novel. It was really thought out well on the author's part and had a fantastic, suprising and very cute ending. It did end up being a little bit predictable. I really would recommend this book to most girls, however, if they didn't like the Princess Diaries series they might not like this because it is pretty similar. I do think that this book was overall very good and enjoyable.

Summary: Absolutely Hilarious - A Must Read!
Review: Samantha "Sam" has definite theories about middle children and knows that they are all messed up, just like her. While her older sister, Lucy, is busy being Miss Popularity as a high school cheerleader and great dresser, her younger sister, Rebecca, is a total brain and goes to a special private school for way accelerated learning, Sam is spending her time dying her whole wardrobe black in protest and trying to devise ways to convince Jack, Lucy's boyfriend, that he is really in love with her. In her spare time, Sam draws portraits of her classmates with famous movie stars and makes pretty good money, too, until Lucy rats her out. The next thing she knows, Sam is stuck in this stupid art class where the teacher keeps telling her to "see" and acts like she is the worst artist ever.

After the first humiliating class, Sam is determined never to return, so she hides in the CD store downstairs until her housekeeper comes to pick her up. She notices a suspicious guy, whom she calls Mr. Uptown Girl on account of his listening to Billy Joel's hit umpteen times while she is waiting and thinks its pretty weird that he is waiting outside her art class, but whatever. Much to her surprise, he pulls out a gun and tries to shoot the president, who is just trying to buy a cookie, for heaven's sake, and then astounds everyone, herself included, when she tackles Mr. Uptown Girl and takes him down. Instant celebrity and hero status is conferred upon Sam and she finds herself dodging reporters, having dinner at the White House, and trying to figure out what the heck is going on with David, the president's son. Sam immediately recognizes David from her art class and is desperate to keep him from mentioning that she skipped class the previous week, but David doesn't seem to care that much. He does seem interested in her, though, but her heart is already taken, isn't it?

This is just a great story by Meg Cabot - I was laughing the whole way through. Sam is a riot and it is so funny to go through her thought processes and see why she is doing what she does. It was also a great story because Sam really learns to "see" and that it is okay to be normal and follow rules once in a while. With a great cast of supporting characters and lots of hilarious, if improbable moments, this book is a must read!

Summary: Left Me Angry!
Review: I would have liked this book better if the protagonist, Sam, had been given a more likeable love-interest. It is such a big part of the story that it rather ruins the book. One is left wondering what she could possibly see in the pompous David, who might as well be wearing a label "President-In-Training." He puts her down, laughs at her misfortune, and yet she feels "fluttery" around him. I don't think it sends a good message to girls at all, which is why I was seeing red at the end of the book. I kept waiting for Sam to call him on his lack of respect, and yet she wound up apologizing to him. It's enough to make you gag.

Sam is an endearing protagonist, genuine, creative and original. It was weird, but she seemed to be the only "real" person in her family. Actually, Sam, Catherine (best friend), and Jack (second love-interest) seemed to be the only "real" people in the entire book. Everyone else seemed two-dimensional, like characters in a comic strip. The older sister "Lucy" is a typical airhead and the younger sister "Rebecca" is a typical brat. However, Sam's narrative is a fun read. Although the book left me in a rage, I have to say that if an author can leave the reader with such intense emotion, she must be pretty talented. I guess I would recommend this book, but only if you are prepared to question the values it assumes to be correct. Don't just buy into the "guy is always right" mentality. Oh, and I couldn't stand the "draw what you see" mantra either. Let's just say you feel quite protective of Sam throughout the book, and wind up wanting to rescue her from the repressive, rigid society she lives in.

Summary: Best Book Ever!
Review: All American Girl is great read for all ages. It is definitely my favourite book of all time. I'm not really that into the lovey-dovey stories but this one was a complete mix of romance, humour and it was sort of real life, though it is not very likely to happen to anyone walking down the street. When I first bought the book I read it form 9oclock at night till half one in the morning. After this I recommended it to all my mates and lent it to a mate. I bought it in January this year and lent it to mate then aswell, but she only returned it last week because she enjoyed reading it so much and she read it six times. It is a good storyline and anyone who liked the princess diaries will love this book. It will really keep you reading so I would advise you to start reading in the morning.I hope this review helps you!

Review: This book is good and it has a good plot. Sam is a teen, who finds herself saving the president, and is turned into the nations hero. This book is a lot like the Princess Diaries series, because both Sam and Mia are unpopular, have stong opinoins on things, and are made fun of by the "popular kids".
They both also find themselves liking popular boys, but changing thier minds, and going for someone else. This is a good book for anyone who likes Prinncess Diaries.

Review: I really enjoyed "All American Girl". I would definitely say I enjoyed it as much as "The Princess Diaries" series. Sure, it was mostly fluff but not pathetic,cheesy fluff that was a waste of paper like some books. It was a very fun read for summer. Sometimes you need a break from your serious reading to read something that didn't require much thought & you could breeze right through it---this book did that. At the same time,it has that "cinderella" element to it that all us girls like to dream about deep down & that made it really fun to read. So girls, go read this for something different, & have fun!!!!

Review: Cabot out did herself this time! She wrote a book that was the total opposite of her hit series: The Princess Diaries. Its quirky and fun. I took one star off for stereotyping how the "All-American Girl" should be.

Review: This book should be the top of every girls list to read throughtout the summer and through the school year. This book is about an everday average girl named Madison. Madison is forced into taking art lesson because Madison is happening to fail German language class because all she does is draw. One day she is at her art class but she doesn't want to go becasue she is dripping wet from the heavy rain that is coming down, so she waits outside. There is a guy standing next to her and the guy keeps moving somthing around in his jacket, Madison thinks he stole something but he didn't he has a gun to shoot the Presidents of the U.S. Its a really great book.

Review: Samantha has a troubled life. She's in love with her older sister's boyfriend. She's also being forced by her parents to take an art class that restricts her creativity. Things get worse when she saves the President's life. Now she has to dodge the media and fulfill her duties as the teen ambassador to the U. N. Her romantic life also gets more complicated when the President's son takes an interest in her.

This book is every bit as enjoyable as the Princess Diaries Series and fans of that series should run out and buy it this second! Sam has a lot in common with Mia but is different enough that you won't feel like you are reading the same book twice. I especially like this books because it's filled with art humor and Gwen Stefani worship which I can identify with. I hope Meg Cabot decides to write a sequel.

Summary: A days worth of fluff
Review: This book is teenage girl fluff. I whizzed through the whole thing in a day. While David is every bit as adorable and wonderful as Michael for the Princess Diaries, I found that I didn't enjoy the heroine, Sam, nearly as much as I like Mia. The plot is just plain goofy, and follows the exact same line as the Princess Diaries. Still, it's a fun, brainless read of instant fame, makeoevers, cheerleader bashing, first kisses, and cute boys. Don't expect much more though.
