Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fun read, impressive teen book
Review: Fast-paced, satisfying read and better than a lot of books I have read lately that are for adults.

This books reminds me of my teen years of a book called "The President's Daugher" (out of print..can't find it!!!).

Good: pacing, you really feel like you are in Sam's head, realistic love interest/boyfriend, scene setting

Bad: some repetition of basic themes, references to No Doubt that will not stand the test of time

Final: Great read, worth buying

Rating: 5 stars

Summary: The best book ever: All American Girl
Review: The book, All-American Girl, by Meg Cabot is about Samantha Madison who walks out of a shop just as the president arrives. Then a guy tries to shoot the president and she jumps on that guy. Thus she saves the president and the world thinks she's a hero. She goes to the White House for dinner and meets the president's son, David, and gets appointed teen ambassador. When she goes to a party with David, he and her big sister's boyfriend get into a fight. She really messes up her relationship with David, but after finding out that she is in love with him she makes it up to him by expressing her feelings in front of millions of people on TV.

Samantha Madison is, in her own words, a medium- sized girl with too pale skin and freckles. Always dressed in black, with a bunch of bright red curly hair sticking straight out of the top of her head. She doesn't feel special between her big sister who is the most popular girl in school and her little sister who is a certified genius. She thinks she's far from being a hero, even though the whole world thinks she is. I think it's weird that she always wears black, but for the rest I think she's a really nice girl.

I think the book was great. Even though the story is far-fetched, it's a lot of fun. The author really expresses the main character's feelings and the main character also tells the story, which is what I like. In the book Samantha makes a lot of lists about everything that's going on in her mind. By now I've read it three times, but everytime I've read it, I was really excited about the book and just couldn't stop.

Samantha messes things up with David by thinking that he was different than she expected a president's son to be. She goes to her art teacher's house and learns to understand his feelings and her own feelings about him. Because she saved the president, many news channels want to interview her. Even though she doesn't like it to be on TV, she wants to get interviewed. In the interview she gets asked many things, her cast got taken of, and it ends by the interviewer asking her what is going on between David and her. She says that there's nothing going on at the moment because she messed it up, but that she would like something to be going on.

The message of the book is that no matter who or what you are, you can always be or become a hero. This is because Samantha, who isn't smart, popular, and would never even dream of being a hero, saves the president of the United States. This shows that how stupid, ugly or weird you are, every person has it in them, that they can save someone.

Summary: A great book
Review: An All American Girl was a good book. I don't like parts of it like, all the artist talk and what her sister's BF looks like and some of the words she says but other then that I loved it! Its about this girl who saves the presidents life and the presdident's son falls in love with the main girl, Sam. She has to take art lessons that she does not want to and is always fighting the press. I can't tell you all of it so I better stop! you should read it!

Summary: yech
Review: To be blunt, reading this book was NOT a pleasurable experience. I felt like I was being continually whacked over the head with the Plot Exposition Shovel. I don't remember the authors I used to read as a teen like Norma Klein, Judy Blume and Paula Danziger being so blatantly moralistic and repetitive. "Draw what you see" ok, we get it; we only need it mentioned twice at most.

Secondly, David seemed to act more like Sam's big brother than her love interest.

Third, knowing what bands a character likes/wears does not mean you are off the hook when it comes to developing their personalities.

Fourth, it seemed like Catherine (best friend) just suddenly became confident and socially adept overnight. What was up with that?

Fifth, I can't see the President of the United States kowtowing to a teenage girl that easily, as he did with the choice of painting in the art contest. Doesn't he deal with tougher adversaries as leader of the free world?

But I liked the book's dedication.

Summary: One of my fave books!
Review: I totally disagree with the person that said David was pompous. Did you read the part where he drew a heart back to say he loved her? Did you read the part where he took her to get a hamburger cuz she was a picky eater? What about when he carved her name into the wood, and later added a + sign.
The only reason David was a bit cruel at parts is because he was jealous that she liked JAck! jeez u didnt get it did you. David was actually my fave character in the book (as is michael moscovitz in princess diaries. I always end up liking the guy characters more lol)
DAVID RULES!

Summary: Better than Princess Diaries
Review: This is a fabulous book. For fans of The Princess Diaries, you will love this book. It's clever, funny, and totally universal. I mean, who hasn't had a crush on an older guy that was off-limits? This book is definitely worth your time, trust me.

Summary: A great book that makes you think!
Review: I've read all the Princess Diaries and have enjoyed them, but this book is the best. It's about Samantha Madison, a teenage girl who isn't so keen about her life, but in the end realizes that if her life was different then she wouldn't be herself. It teaches important lessons about the difference between seeing and knowing. It also shows the true power of speech. This is a teen must read!!

Summary: boring, and annoying
Review: This book is about a girl, Samantha, who saves the president's life and falls for his son.

I may be in the minority on this, but I thought this book was horrible. I personally really disliked the Samantha character. Is she SERIOUSLY as dumb as Cabot makes her to be? Is she honestly still worrying every second over her parents finding out that she skipped her class? What's the big deal? Does she have to worry over it every 5 seconds? Is she REALLY so dense that she doesn't realize she likes the president's son? And why on the back of the book does it say "Top 10 Reasons Samantha's Life is Over" and "the president's son could like her" is on there.. why would that mean her life is over??

Samantha "fully" gets on my nerves in this book. She's annoying, stupid, and just plain dumb. She HONESTLY thinks that saving the president's life is "ho-hum, lalala no big deal". Hating the protaganist really doesn't help when reading this book, which had a lot of potential at the beginning, although the whole reason WHY she has to take the drawing class is ridiculous (she's not allowed to draw pictures of celebrities?? ohhkay.)

Summary: 16-yr-old
Review: First of all, I'd like to say that I was reluctant to read anything by Meg Cabot because of all the publicity about the Princess Diaries. When I picked up this books, I wasn't expecting much, just a fast, fun read: a good break from my summer reading books. What I got was much more. Cabot writes in a funny, easy way that made me laugh out loud and made me feel what the main character, Sam, was feeling.
I really recommend this book. You won't know how good it is until you pick it up and read it, so I won't bother to summarize it. My American Literature teacher would kill me if she heard me, but this has to be one of the most entertaining books that I have ever read. You'll be hooked from the first chapter. I finished in 1 day.
