Rating: Summary: All American Girl Review: This book is about a girl named Samantha Madison, who lives in Washington D.C. Sam is different. She has red hair, wears black all the time, and has a pair of black combat boots with white daisies on them, which she decorated herself. Sam has a perfect older sister, Lucy, who is a cheerleader, Who has the boyfriend that Sam one day plans to steal away. Jack (Lucy's boyfriend) and Sam have so much in common, for example, their love for art. Sam's younger sister, Rebecca, is the brainiac. She always has the answers to everything. Since Sam loves art so much, her parents decide to sign her up for art classes at Susan Boone's. Sam dispises these art classes so much, that one day, she decides not to go. Instead, she went to go listen to music at the record store, right next door. When Sam goes outside to wait to be picked up, she sees the President and his limo pull up to go to the cookie store. At the same time, she sees the man sitting next to her, pull a gun out of his backpack. Sam immediately jumped on top of the man, ruining his chances of shooting the President, as well as breaking Sam's arm. Sam becomes famous. She finds out that one of the students in her art class happens to be the President's son (David). Sam and her family are invited to The White House to have dinner with the President and his family. Sam doesnt like the fancy food at all, so she and David excuse themselves from the table. They eat hamburgers, Sam's favorite. David carves Sam's name into the window sill, beside his. They become friends. The rest of this book goes on to tell about all of Sam's ideas to steal Jack. Jack turns out to be a real jerk, and Sam falls for someone else... Can Sam stand the pressure of becoming someone else to satisfy the public? Will she ever get over the fact that Jack isn't the right guy for her? Read this book to find out.-Kristin-
Rating: Summary: Could be Better Review: Personaly I love the Princess Diaries, Boy Meets Girl, and Boy Next Door. But All-American Girl did not ever compare to these it had such an unrealistic plot that it did not make sense. This girl goes through a few troubles but nothing as relatable as Mia in the Princess Diaries. It is worth reading but you should not drop everything just to read it there are better books out there. I would recommend this book only to teenagers who have already read The Princess Diaries and not just the first one all of them, and people who really enjoyed other Meg Cabot books but are willing to give her a chance to do something different. I hope this column helped you in making your disision!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent book! Review: Samantha is an outcast, and doesn't care. Her sister Lucy is the most popular girl in school, with a cute boyfriend, Jack, who Samantha likes. Her younger sister is a geinus. Suddenly her sister reports to her parents that shes been drawing her friends with celeberties, and they make her take art lessons. She saves the president outside of one, and everything changes for Sam. I recommend this to people who enjoyed the Princess Diarys. Just be aware that the book contains a little bit of inappropriate lanugage. I read this in 6th grade, and have read it several times since. I think this book is definitly worth buying!
Rating: Summary: All American Girl Book Review Review: This amazing, convincing and diverting tale All American Girl is witty and fun for everyone. Written by Meg Cabot, this book's structure is exquisite. A fun-filled ride with sassy taste. If your a young teen, and your interested in romance and comedy then check out All American Girl. "Great Fun," said Kirkus Reviews, after it had come out. Samantha Madison was an avrage high school girl until one fateful afternoon. as she stood waiting for her housekeeper to come and pick her u from art lessons she noticed the President's limo pull up. As he got out a strange man was waiting for him. The man pulled out a gun and had his hand on the trigger, "This is for Margie," he said. When Samantha heard this she did the only thing she could do...she jumped on his back! From that moment on she wasn't known as Samantha Madison anymore she was known as "Our Nation's Hero." As Meg Cabot writes she uses many different methods, such as similes, and very discriptive words, like "encouragingly" and "frizzon." She also uses both simplistic and sophisticated dialogue. I think that this book is excellent, especially because of Meg's writign techniques. I would definitely reccomend his book for it's outstanding effort. All American Girl s great and you'll love it too once you read it. This book is really more for the teen era, but maybe you will love it too. All American Girl is a great book and i give it **** stars. I really hope you'll check it out.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite book EVER!! Review: This is the best book I have ever read! Meg Cabot is a great author, and it totally shows if you read this book. (She also writes the Princess Diaries, for anyone who didn't know). The main character is Samantha. She likes No Doubt, hamburgers, and art. She is the middle child, and between her genius sister Rebecca and her drama queen sister, Lucy, she happened to be the oddball. She goes to John Adams Preparatory School with her best friend, Catherine and Lucy. Sam also likes to write lists. *The Top 10 Reasons Why I Can't Stand My Sister Lucy* is the one that starts out the book, including humor and explaining about Sam's feelings for Lucy's boyfriend,Jack, and how she is always being compared to Lucy. The #1 reason why Sam can't stand her sister? Lucy told about the celebrity drawings, which forces Sam to take art lessons. She takes them, and after a quarrel with her new art teacher, and being embarrassed in front of a cute boy (David, the president's son) she vows not to come to the next lesson. Though trouble ensues when she is playing hooky: An alleged shooter attempts to kill the president! What does Samantha do? She jump on the man's back, forcing the bullet to miss the president. Unfortunately, Samantha's arm is broken, so she goes to the hospital. Sam also becomes aware of the star and hero she has become. Read the rest to find out what happens!
Rating: Summary: All American Girl Review: Samantha Madison is in trouble at home and at school. She is selling celebrity portarits and not doing well in school. She is sent to an art school as a punishment, but she embarks on an interesting adventure. This was a very good book. I would recommend this book to readers of all ages. I liked this book because it was very funny. It's also about trusting yourself and friendship.
Rating: Summary: So what? Review: Many teenagers are now reading this book. But what I want to know is what is the point of it? The main character is way too strange. Her sister is totally unbelievable, a popular girl, does NOT want to help her dorky sister look better, she just wants to stay away from her, especially in public. Second, popular girls date only popular guys and vice versa. After these few points have been made. The reason I read this book was because many others liked it. The story is so fake that is not even interesting anymore (I'm a fantasy book fan, and even fantasy books are more credible than this), I mean, how possible is it that you see the president go and buy things when he could just send somebody else to do it?! Then, the top ten reason lists that you can find throughout the book are way too annoying, at about half of the book, I just started skipping them. So, this is why I DO NOT recommend this book. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining but Kind of Like the Princess Diaries Review: I enjoyed this book the first time around. The plot line is completely out there but it's a good story to read when you need a laugh, all of Meg Cabot's books are like that. The main reason why I've read the Princess diaries books 4 times each. While Sam is a believeable person with her attitude and personality she isn't so much on the outside. Her sister, Lucy, is also a believeable person but is kind of over-the-top, the main problem with most of Cabot's characters. The same with Sam's little sister, Rebecca. I could relate to school life and the entertainment mentionings in the book. Sam's lists were very enjoyable and brought quite a bit of humor and reality to the book. I have read this book over so I DID enjoy it. I just think that it's kind of a repeat of the Princess Diaries, with the completely out-there plot line, humorous, bumbling teenage main charcter and the humorous and very enjoyable remarks and lists. Almost any teenage girl will like this book and that's who I reccomend it to. If you're under 11 I wouldn't reccomend it to you because some things can be a little inappropriate. I think I'm safe in saying boys will not like this book. If you enjoyed All-American Girl then I strongly reccomend you read the Princess Diaries (they're WAY better than the movie, I assure you). But keep in mind they do have some things that are inappropriate for younger readers, so i reccomend TPD for girls over 11.
Rating: Summary: Nice Chic-Book. :) Review: Samantha Madison is your average New York teenager. Except for the fact that she saved the President from being assassinated by a guy that was standing outside of her art class. And so she is appointed U.S. Teen Ambassador and spends her afternoons bouncing super balls off the Press Secretary's walls. Oh, and one more thing: the President's son thinks she's cute. This book is very funny, much like all of Meg Cabot's books. It is half romance, and half comedy and all teenage girls will like it. You can easily relate to characters in Sam's high school, although Sam herself is sort of un-believable.
