Rating: Summary: Biblical vision and values for our children Review: ENOUGH of this "passive parenting" many adults hold so dear to their hearts! This book holds strong and solid advice for parents to be a formative part of their child's life by exercising love, understanding, and discipline. It is an incredible book and an easy two-day read. Isaiah 54:13 conveys the ultimate goal and message of this book, "All thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children". It reaffirmed for me biblical values for raising my child to please the Lord by preserving the delicate spirit within. You will absolutely fall in love with this book and begin your search for the next Dr. Dobson book...as I am!

Rating: Summary: Not just for parents Review: I was required recently to read this book for a youth ministry class I'm taking to prepare me for an internship. While the book is geared towards parents of younger children, much of the same material may be applied to youth ministry. Also, I find that much of it SHOULD be applied in my own daily life. This book offers great insight into how children develope and I would encourage everyone to read, no matter what your situation is.

Rating: Summary: A Lyrical Dialectic from the Master of Discipline Review: James Dobson, fundamentalist qua child psychologist, has done it again with this wonderful textually self-referential dialectic on child "rearing."Dobson, who's earlier work has inspired us to spank our children, really hits the mark with his proverbial cat o' nine-tails here. Gone is the winsome, friendly Dobson- replaced by a ruthless Dobson seeking to enhance "self-esteem" through the either/or of "hide and seek." Skillfully blending a poetic sense of kinder-angst with the ethic of the ubermensch, Dobson clearly establishes a nexus of wunderkind endlossung, with a result that is sure to elicit more than a few belly laughs.
Rating: Summary: A great preview into building your childs self esteem! Review: Upon strong recommendation from my cousin I read Hide or Seek. I have read many books on raising children as I aspire to be the best parent that I possibly can. I have found that James Dobson more consistantly finds the balance between loving your children and teaching your children hands down to other literature that is available. He has helped me to trust in my own capability and knowledge and develop a system that works for "our" family. There are so many paths that we as parents have to speculate about. Dobson helps to high-light a path that nurtures your childs spirit while developing a deep sense of respect for themselves as well as others.
