Summary: very intriguing
Review: Having grown up in the military and having friends that went to military academies, I found this book to be very well written. The actions and personalities of the military officers was right-on the money and well researched and a good book. It was hard to put down. I am so excited that they are making a movie out of this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: DeMille at his best
Review: As a huge DeMille fan I recently reread this book for the first time. I have to tell you, I forgot how good it was. The man is a pleasure to read, you care about his characters and he makes you laugh.

To answer the question about his books becoming movies, at last count, movie rights to six of his books had been sold.

The Generals Daughter will be the first to hit the screen and it stars John Travolta. I can't wait. Now if he would only write a sequal to Gold Coast.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: OK if you're desparate and only have "Ulysses" on hand
Review: It seemed a bit boilerplate for me. There's the trademark stuff by DeMille; the sexual angle and the brainy detective work. It does seem to lack the enterprise of The Gold Coast or Plum Island.

Still, it reads well and does present the darker side of humanity in a reasonable manner.

For DeMille fans, it gets 3 stars; for others not familiar with his work, 2 stars - start on The Gold Coast or Plum Island first.

Summary: Power Struggles + Sex = The US Military
Review: Visit the military world of masculine tradition and watch as the murder of one powerful woman brings that world to its knees...literally. Warrant Officer Brenner escorts the reader through a repulsive and compelling murder investigation on a Georgia Army base. Sex, power, and political games are mischieviously played on the fields of military protocal. If you don't beleive it is happening, think again. The reality of these games is made tragically clear in this suspenseful mystery.

Summary: Suspenceful to the very end
Review: The story was very slow to start but the intensity continued to build to the very end. I just finished Nelson Demille's "Plum Island" and wanted more of his style but I found "The General's Daughter" to be a completely different writing style. I didn't feel I was reading from the same author, only a new one with an incredible new style. What a talent!! I want more of him.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Intriguing
Review: This novel held my interest more than Demille's Gold Coast. While the premise, a general's daughter as a seductress for revenge, was believeable - the tale weaved by Demille ultimately became unbelievable. However, whether I bought it all or not, it was a good beach read!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: As good as the rest of his books.
Review: I noticed an ad for a book signing. Nelson DeMille was autographing copies of General's Daughter at Tower Books. I had already read the book. I've read them all. I thought it would be a bit of fun to meet him. I offered my copy for signature and praised it. I wanted to engage him in conversation so I asked him where he was on his tour. "just getting started?" "Nope, this is our last stop. Tomorrow we go home." "How is Seattle for you?" I expected an answer like, "oh we've been here before and love such and such restaurant and the view over Lake Union at dusk." Instead, he looked at his companion and they looked at each other and shrugged and said "it's the best!" The best what? "More books are sold per capita in Seattle than anywhere else in the country. Boston is number two." "Must be the rain", I replied. Someone should do a map showing book sales per title.

I love DeMille. He is my favorite author. A nice guy, too.

I can't understand why his books haven't been made into movies.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best Detective Story I've Read In A Long Time!!
Review: I loved this book because it deals with a little known subject that interests me to no end: military law enforcement. It manages to describe its inner workings within a fast-paced story with well-defined and very enjoyable characters; I literally could not put the book down! Kudos to Mr. Demille on a great job!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A mystery murder that would keep Columbo searching for clues
Review: DeMille, you've done it again! I'm new to reading your Novels, but after Spencerville, Gold Coast and Charm School, This one kept me up at night, reading untill my eyes said NO, but my brain said don't let go! What a mystery! Hitchcock would hire you in a minute! Would like to see this book go to the movies!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A humorous military mystery that keeps you guessing.
Review: DeMille strikes gold again in a densly plotted mystery that takes place on a southern military base. Mixing his military background with a witty sense of humor, DeMille crafts a novel that excels on every level.
