Rating: Summary: Clifford the Big Red dog: Welcome to Birdwell Island Review: Clifford is one of the more famous dogs of all time. He's big, he's red, and for some reason there is always trouble. In the book "Welcome to birdwell Island", you see that the yard and area that Clifford is living in is much too small for him, so his family decides to move to birdwell island, so that their favorite big red dog has room to run and play. At first the people pf Birdwell Island don't like Clifford because he is so big. So our favorite red dog is sad. Well the of course trouble happens and the forest catchs on fire, there is no way for the fire cheif to put the fire out. Well that is all I am going to tell you because I think you should read this book! On my book rating scale I would give this book an 8 1/2 for little kids. It is am excellent book for the younger community.
Rating: Summary: The Big Red Favorite of My Kids Review: Clifford is one of those literary creatures who adults find hard to quite "get." I am among those adults, but I have to admit, my children love all things Clifford and when his show is playing on the local PBS channel, its "must-see-TV" time for thekids. This is the book that launched Clifford's career. Originally released in the late eighties, Clifford has grown into a children's icon. Norman Bridwell apparently hit upon a idea that resonates with children. Of course, most kids love dogs, red is a color that stand out, and I guess combine the two in a giant dog and you've got instant appeal to the toddler set. I don't mean for that to sound cynical. Clifford's stories frequently contain good moral lessons for the children and most often revolve around the concept of "love" for one's pet and vice versa. Oddly, in this, the first book in the series, there is no explanation for why Clifford is a giant dog (I've never sorted out how tall he actually is; sometimes he appears to be 10-12 feet tall and sometimes twice that height). Of course, my four-year-old could care less about explanations, she just loves him.
Rating: Summary: My 16 month olds favorite book Review: Clifford rules! I bought this book before I even had my baby and it has ALWAYS been his favorite. The big redness of Clifford and the cartoon like pictures and vibrant colours always bring him back for more. There are just the right number of words to read per page before he gets bored of it. I still enjoy it too!
Rating: Summary: Compelling Review: Clifford strikes gold again in the compelling novel about a girl and her dog. I am currently a sophmore at Old Dominion University with 'Clifford the Big Red Dog,' being my last children's book read. I not only found it interesting and entertaining, but also a full color portrait of children's literature as a whole. Whether you will share Clifford with a child or read for your own personal satisfaction, this is the book of choice. I give Clifford the Big Red Dog five stars and strongly recommend it for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Great for Beginning Readers Review: Clifford The Big Red Dog is the most wonderful book I've ever read because its easy to read. The part I most liked is when they take Clifford to the island in a trailer. I think that ever child should read this book some times in their life.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite classic childrens books! Review: Clifford The Big Red Dog was one of my favorite books when I was little it was one of the books my parens would have to read to me at bedtime, I still have the book too but is not in the best condition because when I was little I ripped the cover and scribbled all over the book, I'm thinking of buying this wonderful classic childrens book for my niece and since she loves dogs I'm sure she will love this book just as much as I did!
Rating: Summary: Brings me back to my childhood! Review: Gosh, I use to love Clifford and all of his stories. This one particularly is my favorite. I am so glad that it is finally in a board book so my daughter can enjoy it with out it being destroyed before her brother or sister comes around. The pictures are very colorful and the book is very sturdy.
Rating: Summary: Loveable Clifford! Review: He's a very big red dog, and Emily Elizabeth loves him--though she knows he's not perfect. After all, when gigantic Clifford chases a car, he actually catches it--in his mouth! He needs a doghouse as large as the family home, he digs up big trees for fun and he takes baths in a large swimming pool. He's an enormous dog with an enormous heart. Millions of fans of the original Clifford books are grown-ups now, raising a new generation of admirers. Even if you don't have a family pet, no one can resist the world's biggest, reddest dog. (ages 0-102)
Rating: Summary: He's big! He's red! He's a dog! Review: He's big. He's red. He's a dog. What more can you say? Clifford is so popular that's there's a Clifford book for every season and nearly every holiday. As if that weren't enough, there's also a whole line of Clifford's puppy day stories, which also cover every season and most major holidays. This dog is huge -- in more ways than one! The first book is very simple and very sweet, and it goes a long way toward explaining the popularity of the series. Instead of being a story about a big, red dog, it's a story about the special friendship between a girl and her dog. Emily Elizabeth loves her dog, despite what others may see as his shortcomings. yes, even Emily Elizabeth will admit that he has a few. For instance, when Clifford chases cars, he actually catches them and brings them home. When Clifford doesn't win first prize at the dog show, Emily Elizabeth doesn't mind. She'll take Clifford over any of those other dogs any day. Reminds me of my daughter's fierce loyalty to Blackie, our stray mutt with chronic mange. Even when Blackie is going through one of her Mexican Hairless impersonations, my daughter still thinks Blackie is the best dog in the world.
