Summary: breathtaking
Review: This book was like a breath of fresh air...very Maeve Binchy and Rosemund Pilcher in feel...with characters who you fall in love with. Heartbreaking and hopeful...a book I would recommend to anyone who will listen.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A Rosamunde Pilcher wannabee
Review: This book was weak in all ways, I was disappointed to say the least. The characters were overly exaggerated in either their evil ways or their goodness. Having read a lot of books from England, Ireland, etc. I can say that the only British things about this book was that they occasionally drank tea, and their location. The plot ties up in a highly improbable way and still leaves things unfinished. My advice (if anyone cares) is stick with Rosamunde Pilcher... she is a sip of a hearty ale, versus a sip of light beer.

Summary: A Truly Wonderful Week In Winter!
Review: This is a truly wonderful summer read. I started this yesterday and didn't ever want it to end. The book is about Maudie who has to make a decision regarding a cornish farmhouse that has been in the family for years. Maudie came into this family as a step-mother and knows that once again with this decicision she will not be thought of kindly by her step-daughter Selina. Selina has always felt that Maudie was her worst enemy even though Selina's daughter has always found her to be a great friend. But with guidance from Posey her grand-daughter and one of the great characters of the book, Polonius, an english mastiff that becomes Maudie's best companion, the trip to the end of this book is a great read. Secrets are unveiled and guilt is finally put to rest by several of the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the author not only reminds me of Pilcher but another great, Maeve Binchey. Anyone who picks this up will not be disappointed. Will be looking forward to more books by Marcia Willett.

Summary: A Week in Winter
Review: This was my first time to read anything by Marcia Willett and I found "A Week in Winter" to be a delight. It took me through the life of not only the main character Maudie but many of her family members. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out the author drops a bomb shell. It's focus around Moorgate, a family home, brings all the characters together. It has love and romance, sadness, intrigue, death, the aging process, marriage and much more. Marcia Willeett writes as well as one of my favorite authors,Maeve Binchey.

Summary: I have found a new favorite author!
Review: This was one of the best books I have ever read! I am an avid Rosemunde Pilcher fan so I am always on Amazon trying to find books similar to her work. This was suggested in a review so I figured I would give it a try. I couldn't put it down! Only two of her books are available in the U.S. so I went on Amazon U.K. and ordered every book she has ever written to be shipped to me from England. It was that good. If you love Pilcher, you will love Willett! I have never been inspired to write an Amazon review until now! Take the chance -you won't be disappointed!

Summary: well-written English extended family drama
Review: Widow Maudie Todhunter sadly realizes she can not longer manage the two homes Hector left to her so she plans to sell her country estate Moorgate. She had hoped to give the estate, which is the entrance to the Scottish Moors, to her cherished stepgranddaughter Posey, but knows that is now impossible.

Several people show an interest in Moorgate. Her resentful stepdaughter Selina who never accepted Maudie as her father's second wife reminds her that the family has had many joyful memories especially with Hector's first perfect wife. Ironically Selina may detest Maudie, but her own daughter loves her stepgrandmother and wants Maudie to do whatever is best for her. Building restorer Rob Abbot loves the place after spending joyful hours working there. Melissa Clayton finds peace and love on the estate while battling deadly cancer. Others too express an interest. Maudie accompanied by Polonius her giant English mastiff begins to learn ugly secrets that destroys all of her dreams of the past and present.

Though a well-written English extended family drama, this relationship tale feels as if Cecil B. DeMille cast the characters. The audience feels some of the tension they cause to the star, but they move in and out and back in before the reader has a chance to truly meet any of them. Though this leads to feeling a bit of tea and sympathy towards Maudie for coping with the mob. Marcia Willet is clearly a talented author, but only the diehard English relationship fan will want to spend a soapy WEEK IN WINTER trying to keep tabs on this crowd.
